Erratic, idiotic drivers, this one will get into so much trouble soon.

I was driving down one of the busier roads leading downtown today when I had to deal with an erratic driver in front of me.
I had to make sure to give him and other drivers enough space just in case he decided to do something more foolish than he already was.
This jerk, not caring about others on the road, when someone wanted to pass him on the right side, started veering over to that lane, barely giving anyone enough room to get by him.
He was doing this frequently and it was really starting to annoy me. I didn't want to stay behind him any longer than I had to, so I decided to pass him.
As I got beside his van, I discovered that it was a transit maintenance van. I wrote down the van number and drove off.
When I got back into the left lane, he moved to the right lane and I slowed down to get a look at him. I don't know what his excuse was for driving erratically, but it must have been because he was eating something and not paying a lot of attention to the road.
I was glad to get away from him, people like him cause accidents on the roads that you really want to stay away from.
On the way home, I was stuck behind a slow driver, I went to pass him at one point, and he moved right in front of me, without signaling his intention. Once he did that, I moved back into the lane I'd just come from and pulled up beside him at a red light.
Go figure, he was eating something and deciding that going slow was a lot safer than going with the flow of traffic.
I get so sick of people like that, they really make the roads dangerous for the rest of us.

I think it is ridiculous that people eat while on the road. Not to say that I have never done it myself, but I try not to do it if it is on a busy street. If I am eating something messy, I will make sure I am parked because I don't want to cause an accident! I hope that you reported the transit maintenance van because there is no reason that someone who is on the job should be driving erratically! Thanks for sharing!

I admit that I eat while driving, but I'm always on the road with my job.
But, with anything else, I'm always careful and eat something that's not going to cause a problem. If I find that it's going to interfere with my safe driving, then I stop eating. I've been eating and driving long enough to know when it's safe and when it's not, but these drivers clearly didn't as it's probably not something they do on a daily basis.
I will be reporting that driver, I know it wont be as newsworthy as the bus drivers who are caught on their cell phones. I was actually hoping that he was on his cell phone, it would have made my report more interesting to the transit company. Their name has been smeared throughout the news lately for that issue.

Usually when I eat in the car it is something that I can grab with one hand and easily put down if necessary. As far as people talking on cell phones, I don't think that is the wisest move either. I usually try to get off the road before I get on the cell phone. Of course, now it doesn't matter because I don't have one any more. Talk to you later.
