Towards a better me

I've been depressed for sometime now, sulking about why my life sucked, and why, oh why, I can't diss this current job that's been weighing me down for almost a year now. Then, I read this article in yahoo about your looks having an influence on your success. At first, I was skeptic, but then it got me thinking, if I were called to a job interview tomorrow, would I be ready? Would I make a good impression on the interviewer? My credentials and my resume is good (in my opinion, at least) but would my looks affect my interview? So, I dragged my self out of depression, made an appointment at the salon, and now I have uber, gorgeous hair. That alone has raised my confidence level at least twice the day before. I've also started eating healthy, and doing exercises to take off what the months of depression had piled on me . I try to get enough sleep (still trying) so I won't have these bloodshot eyes and huge bags underneath. And best of all, I'm praying and reading my bible again. Sincerely. And it's starting to give me the peace that I've been wanting for a long time. Tomorrow, call me up for an interview. And I'll be ready. Confident, beautiful, sparkly! Aja!

As much as I think looks shouldn't matter, looks do sometimes help with our self-esteem. In that sense, I think you used it as a healthy tool. Great discussion and perseverance.

Yes, I think so, too. I always believed that when you are good on the inside it will reflect of the outside. But, sometimes, when we make the outside look good, it would do wonders to the inside. Hope that made sense.

Oh, gloryacam, it is great to hear such a positive post. Sometimes our mood follows our actions. We have to act as if we feel better and soon we will. I think a thousand people need to read your post and follow your lead to start getting their life in line and on a more positive track.

You're right! And I DO hope, a thousand people read it, too! (And comment, and I'll comment back, calculating, calculating ) But, yes, during these times of bad economy and general unrest, we all need to be more positive in life. Thanks!

Good for you!!! Confidence really does wonders to an interview.. I just had my first interview in 4 years, and I was so nervous, but I keep thinking to myself that the right attitude will get you the right job and I was right! It was really a great feeling when I passed my interview and when they offered me a job. Just boosted my confidence 100x more over!

glory I am so proud of you sweetie! You march in there and give it all you got. Do not dare get depressed if it does not work out as it will be experience for the next lucky company that calls upon you. Anytime you get in a blue funky mood again, remember this feeling and how you went about prepping for tomorrow. This will surely bring right back up again, and remember you are you great yesterday, tomorrow, and everyday! Best of luck, I will say a prayer for you so that you get the job and have great news to share with us. Go get'em!

Thank you, dear! But I wish they'd call me for an interview. Now, while I feel that I can conquer the world! I don't like what I've gone through, and I'll take your advice. When I'm starting to go that path again, I'll remember what feeling good about yourself feels like. And, thanks! You only have good words for me.
