Many kinds of cakes in the freezer at our corner little gas station store.

They had fudge, carrot, peanut butter and chocolate, as well as raspberry white chocolate. I got my husband the chocolate cake with peanut butter frosting. He turned 54 today. I did a little something for him today. We're doing the party for him on Sunday. Next reason I get to go get a cake, I'm getting the raspberry filled with white chocolate frosting, that looked really good. I usually make cakes, but I've been tired lately. I just couldn't get movitated to make a cake. Besides, I've been eyeballing the cakes in the freezer case for years. I worked 4 days last week (check out all this justification will ya?). Anyway, my husband loved the cake I got him. It had Reeses cups on top. Have you ever bought a cake? Have you ever bought a birthday cake? Have you looked at some of the cakes that you can buy? What ones tempt you to buy or make them? Was the cake as good as you thought? The one I bought for my husband ws really, really supper rich. You can only eat a little at a time. Since it was in the freezer, I thought it might be ice cream cake, but it wasn't. So I bought some ice cream, too. Maple Walnut, that was rich, too. This will all be gone by Sunday. So I'll have to make or buy another cake and get more ice cream. Maybe my sister-n-law will volunteer to bring either the cake or the ice cream. We'll see. Stay tuned!

I never imagined that you could find a cake at that kind of store. I would say it is OK you did not make the cake. You helped your husband have a nice birthday and that is what is important.

We did buy my granddaughter a Baskin Robbins frozen cake one time. She really enjoyed it. My grandmother used to make delicious cakes. She always had one ready for someone. Her icing was delicious too and we always had Neopolitan ice cream. The kind with vanilla, strawberry and chocolate flavor all in one. Peanut butter frosting, huh? That sounds interesting.

I've always wanted one of those. The price usually scares me away. We used to get neopolitan, but nobody wanted the chocolate. We love everything in chocolate except ice cream. Not sure why. We also found out we like Butter Peacan and Maple Walnut ice creams really well or berry ones or French Vanilla. So it was a "You eat the chocolate." "No, you eat it!" My husband adores peanut butter frosting. He also goes crazy for ice creams with nuts in them.

I wasn't crazy about nutella years ago. Maybe I should try it again. Too rich for me maybe! Thanks and take care.

I do enjoy Butter Peacan and Maple Walnut. Not real big on peanuts though I do get hungry for it occasionally. I like nuts. Am real partial to Nutella with hazelnut(a big fav)Yum! I like sherbert when I'm sick.

I've bought many a cake at stores. Our grocery stores all sell sheet, half sheet and quarter sheet cakes that you can decorate. They are now also making cupcake cakes that having icing over the whole thing. I can't eat them, but they tell me they are yummy. Actually, before I knew better I had some, but I know better now... I have certainly made a few cakes and found a mix now and again that is safe, and I enjoy cake, but the icing is harder, sometimes I can find safe ones and other times I can't. Ya know, Cool Whip or its like makes a good substitute, you just can't decorate it!

Yeah, it's amazing how much stuff has the things you're allergic to in it. Not a fan of cool whip and my husband won't eat it. I like real whip cream and he doesn't like cream besides ice cream.

I can understand, but trust me, when you have to make compromises, things start tasting much better!

When I went without sugar for a year, everything started to taste sweet. The last month, even meat started to taste sweet, so I know what you're talking about.

First cake - First cake my son decorated except I did the border and Roses.
My husband sometimes buys cakes, but I prefer to make my own. this picture is the first cake that my 8 year-old son had decorated. (I did the border and roses though)It was chocolate and filled with butterscotch pudding, next one will be chocolate with a peanut butter filling..:P Though the raspberry filling sounds awfully good too... I also freeze my cakes if it won't be eaten soon, it keeps it from getting stale and probably why the store had them frozen.

Thank you..:) Since I am really the only one who really loves cakes, I rarely make them as well. I don't know if you remember, but my son doesn't like cake, regular or ice cream cake, (don't ask I have no idea whose side of the family that came from....ll), so for his birthday I make him some shape out of rice krispie treats..

I haven't had time to make any cakes either. I have browsed the cakes and the ones that tempt me most are the icecream cakes. I have wanted to get one for a while now. It's starting to warm up outside a bit now so I might have to get one. My b/f picked up some lemon muffins with vanilla cream in the middle the last time he went to the store. I am on the verge of being addicted to the things..mmm.

If they're the lemon poppy seed ones, I agree with you. Must be the stuff in the poppy seeds. I haven't had enough $ for the ice cream cakes, but maybe in the summer! Then we can compare notes. Would love to try one. The water melon role one I had at someone's house was small loglike and looked like a jelly roll, but it was all ice cream, that was terrific! Like ice cream with watermelon sherbert and the seeds were little chocolate flecks. So terrific! YUM! Can't wait!

Hi, I love to eat cakes...all sort of cakes are fine with me.but I am not fancy over chocolate cakes. The most I like is cheese cake, fruity cakes. Of course, I also like to eat sponge cake and those non-baked cake. Lately, I am trying to bake a cake and so far, I am quite satisfied with the banana cake outcome that I make few days back. This morning, I tried to bake the sponge cake. The look is not that good, but the taste and texture of the cake is fine. I must practice more to have better outcome. So far, I always buy a cake for birthday, I am not up to the level to make any birthday cake as I am not good in decorating the cake. Normally I will opt for those fruity cake for birthday as I am not a chocolate lover.

I love cheese chake and fruity cakes, too. But it wasn't my birthday. If it was, the raspberry would have been mine! Love banana cakes, too. You have great choices in cakes!

Anymore I usually will buy a cake somewhere instead of making one. It is usually a lot easier, but since it is just my husband and I it seems like whenever I buy a cake it has to be a smaller one or invite some friends over to share it with us as well. Usually we will get our Cakes from either Albertsons Bakery or from Costco as we prefer freshly made ones most of the time for sure. And if it is an Ice Cream cake we usually go to Dairy Queen for it. Wish your Husband a late Happy Birthday from me.

My Hubbie says thank you for the Happy Birthday wishes. We have neither a Costco or a Dairy Queen here. Many people are very happy with Price Chopper cakes here. Thanks and take care.

Now you have done it, you have made me hungry. My husband would enjoy that peanut butter chocolate cake, I think I would like the white chocolate and raspberry. I have bought cakes, they are generally as good as my own or better. The icecream sounded scrumptious as well. I may have to go make lunch soon.

If we lived near each other, we'd mess up each others' diets with that white chocolate and raspberry. Take care.

Rarely do I buy a cake but when I do it is usually a pound cake (no frosting) or a coffee cake of some kind. I check the dates on them to be sure they're fresh as those kinds have a lot of butter in them. I don't like to purchase cakes with fruit in/on them as I can't be sure how fresh the fruit is. Most of my cakes are ones that I make myself. I do get an ice cream cake occasionally and that comes from Dairy Queen.

I want to make a real pound cake where you use a pound of everything, but I haven't. The ones I've bought are heavy, moist and gooooooood! I can see why you like them. Sadly, we don't have a Dairy Queen. I haven't had an ice cream cake, they're soooo expensive, the price scares me, but I do want to buy one.

cake - this was the cake i ordered for my mom
I LOVE CAKES! i love to eat them, i love to look at them and i even love making and decorating them. Its like these are the little precious things in life that is taken for granted. Anyways, yes i love them but unfortunately since i moved out of the house, i still do nto have any oven and therefore i cannot bake them nor make one since i also do not have any materials. But i am planning on buying one if i could save that is.. I love to look at them especially when i go to the bakeries or pastry shops, the recent one that i ordered from a friend for my mom's birthday was delicious. I even love watching shows about cakes, like that of food network's Ace of Cakes where Duff, the owner make mind blowing creations! The design was insane, i also watched an episode of Oprah where the owner of Cake Boss was featured, he made a cake that looked like Oprah sitting below her favorite tree. It was soooo amazing! i am even dreaming of becoming like them..i hope.

Oh, oh, yes, I knew there was one more in the freezer at the store and I couldn't remember the name of it. That's what it was, blackforest. What makes it a black forest cake? I don't know if I've ever had one. Thanks and take care.
