I can wear my glasses!

Two weeks ago I was finally able to get myself and DD1 into see the eye Dr. I had to keep canceling for a while because I'd end up working and they never had an appt that fit a time when I could get in there. I had mentioned I have had these new cute metal cat-ish style glasses for some time and I have not been able to wear them w/o getting a headache. After some prodding by my myLot pals I got the glasses looked at. He said my script is about the same as my old ones. Then he looked at my frame, the shape of the frame is why I was having troubles. They were straight across instead the frames should have a lil bit of curve to them to bring the lenses closer to your face. He did an exam on me, shaped the glasses & didn't even charge me the co-pay!

That is very good service. My eye doctor has moved out of town. I have not seen one in three years. If I had known this, one of the great eye doctors here in town was doing free vision screenings on Tuesday. Grrrr. I would like to go to her, and had actually thought about it. I need new glasses badly.

Doesn't hurt to look into getting a free exam and seeing if your script has changed.

Was that a one time deal for the free screening or do they do it on a regular basis? You should look into getting an exam anyway. See when they will do it again. Too bad you aren't in China. All the eye exams that I got there were at no charge. There was one place that I went to that did an exam and then I did another one across the street and bought my glasses there. Neither place charged me for the exam and they used fancy machines rather than just having me read letters or symbols on the wall. They had me do that when actually fitting me for lenses, but for determining the script, they used a machine.

I'm so glad!! I love that type of glasses, too. myLotters are very helpful, aren't they? And next time, get your glasses from Zenni Optical for around $8 a pair!

What do they charge for lens? I've seen them as cheap as $10 for frames at wal-mart but then it's $30 for lens.

That's it, Bunnies! Starting at $8 and going up to about $20, depending on the frame you choose. Frames and lenses altogether for the price. They're on the net, look them up! Clark Howard gets his glasses from them, he's an economist with a national radio show and always has great places like that to suggest.

I think that is great! Sometimes opticians will do that as a courtesy to customers. It would also be a good way to show good will so that customers would be more likely to come back. It doesn't really take any effort to look at the script and see if there is any difference. Many places will do that for you. If the frames needed to be replaced they would have charged you, but since all that was needed was an adjustment that is usually done for free, at least in my experience. Did you go to the same place you purchased the glasses or somewhere else? That could also be a factor.

The same place I purchased the glasses. Hard to explain but his company has their own Dr's, Dentists, and Opticians. Their optical is one of the few places who will accept their insurance. And there's no fuss, no forms to get things done thru them. I just think the Dr knows I don't have alot of cash to spare and it really sux to have a new pair of glasses I can't do anything with.

Did you have to pay for repairs there before? Like I say, most opticians will do basic repairs for no charge, at least in my experience.

Oh wow, imagine it was only the frames! I'd never heard of it needing to be a bit curved so that it bring the lenses closer to your face! :) Wow though great he didn't make you pay a co-pay because well of course it wasn't your fault.

Success! I am glad to hear that not only did all work well but you did not have to pay the additional fee. So true about myLot! We ask we get. Enjoy the glasses and pain free days.

Yeah he said don't worry about the co-pay. Probaby because he knows I was upset another time when the ped sent my DS to a specialist when he could of examined my DS for the $8 co-pay not the $150 deductable for the specialist to get the same flip'n answer as the ped gave.

Woo! Good job! I love not getting a co-pay.. but be careful it's not eventually billed to you. Last time I took my youngest in to the peds the secretary said there was no co-pay for a well child visit. I knew she was wrong, and kept telling her so, but she didn't listen. Lo and behold, a few weeks later I get a bill for the co-pay.. Hubby says "You should have known better!" I did know better.. but she didn't listen! Then, I also got billed for a co-pay for my oldest son's follow up to make sure his ear infection had healed.. that one ticked me off like crazy. I shouldn't have co-pays for follow up appointments! Apparently I do though.
