I hope y'all don't have the trouble seeing small print like i do. The local paper for the last 2 weeks have printed part of in such small print had to use a darn magnifying glass to see it even w/my glasses on.. VERY AGGRAVATING!! Also on my prescription drug bottles they will add a green label that is written in such small print out comes the glass again. Very aggravating agian. They should know us old folks have bad eyesight but i bet a bunch of young folks do to. My eyes have never been good . I started wearing glasses when i was in the 4th grade , a hundred years ago. lol. I have an aneurysm behind my right eye that really affects my seeing plus i have cataracts on both eyes. If i type in all caps that really helps but then everybody gripes about that. So many nice people on here complained about me doing that till mylot told me i would either quit doing that or they would quit me. Thanks so much nice people that can see well. Do u have problems seeing small print??

I don't have much problems seeing but I can relate to things being wrote too small.People writing in all caps doesn't bother me. I can over look things like that. It's not like it is hard to read it or anything. My mom she had a cataract surgery and she had a lot of problems seeing before that. You might if you haven't recently have your eyes checked again to see if it is close to time to do the surgery now. I heard that when it is time to do the surgery you don't want to wait to long after wards to do it or you could go blind. Which would be real bad. They say if you have cataracts you need to have your eyes checked at least every 6 months to see how much the cataracts have got worse. My step-dad has cataracts too but it isn't time for him to do it yet. You have a good week! Good topic!

Good morning & thanks for responding. Was just at the eye dr. last week. He finally said he thought i could have mine taken off but i think he's leary about this aneurysm behind my eye & i am to. Sure don't want to get it stirred up. Right now is not a good time for me to think about surgery. MY youngest son would be the one to take me & they are expecting any time plus his new job really keeps him busy. My doctor didn't insist i do it right away either. I think he is leary of this aneurysm & i am to.

My mom didn't know that she had a aneurysm in one of her eyes until she had the surgery. They told her about. The eye that had that she had to put more drops in it more often. I don't blame you for wanting to wait until your son is in a better situation. It would be terrible if his wife went to labor the day of your surgery.

At night after working online all day my eyes get tired and it gets very hard for me to see any print. And especially after I take my medication and it starts to take effect. I have some eye lubricant that I use and it helps alittle but if I am real tired I just have to give it up. Even wearing glass don't help if your eyes are clouded over.

The doctor says my eyes are fine. I told her about the film I get over them sometimes. She said to get some of eye rinse. It does help but not completely. Old age I am thinking.

I have noticed that I have this problem more and more. I have wondered if there was a way you could change your screen resolution so that you could see what you are typing better, and read better. I need new glasses and that is the plain and simple fact.

Thanks, I do okay on the lap top, until I get so tired I really should be in bed. It is good to know, though. I could do control and roll my mouse on the desk top.

Hello Antiquelady, I could see small prints when I was girl, and I could recognize the car that was in the other side of the street. I was almost blind. My mother made my pass by a surgery, and it was great! I didn´t wear glasses til last year, that I have problems reading small print. But now I have a husband and kids. So I don´t mind having again glasses over my nose =)... kind blessings!... Dainy

About 2 years ago I had this dreaded sight problem bug me. I used to have real good 20/20s and I could see and read a bus' sign from very far. Now everything seems to be blurry. To read text messages on my phone I have to extend my arm as far as I can to even make out any word, and this was the only time I thought being a taller man mattered because I would have longer arms. Lol. Yes, I totally agree with you on those small print on medicine bottles. Specially if the medication was intended for us aging humans. I can't bring around with me a magnifying glass all day, unless I were a detective like Sherlock or something that would be cool. I've also put off for another day seeing the eye doctor to get me some glasses for years. Not only are they expensive here, I am not too comfortable wearing them. Those contact lenses too seems impossible to wear. I have tried to wear glasses, as I remember a eye doctor friend did offer his glasses to me to try out. It was near perfect, yet in my line of work which is to design websites, I have a hard time adjusting. You know, the part where one has to peek into those two lower sections of the glasses for reading. Anyway, I'm the impossible kind like some dogs will never get used to a collar on their necks type. My granny too did have glasses at a young age. I don't really mind if you type in all capitals on here. IT REALLY DOESN'T BUG ME AT ALL. Luckily I can see pretty well my screen at arms lenght for now. If my eyesight gets worse, I may need to have longer arms and that would be a big problem. . Have a nice day antiquelady!

Good morning & thanks for your cute response. I always enjoy hearing from u. They can make u glasses w/out any lines now. I have never had them because i'm so use to bifocals & they don't bother me. Sounds like to me u do need to get u some glasses. U may be doing damage to your eyes by not wearing glasses & the longer u wait the more complicated it could get. Don't want your arms to grow out of proportion, lol.I appreciate your kindness about the caps but everyone was not that kind. Hope u have a great day.

I ‘m short-sighted and I have to wear glasses all the time. As I’ve gotten older my reading has started to get effected which means that for me to read or write I need to take off my glasses whereas most people need to put them on! That can be a real pain if I’m wearing contact lenses! I relate to your problems with vision because mine has never been good for as long as I can remember. I appreciate your need to type in capitals and it’s a shame that admin doesn’t! For the record, I didn’t mind your capitals!

I do have trouble seeing small print. I was just laughing the other day. We have just gotten our new phone books, I cannot read them even with my glasses on. Neither can my son or husband. I told them we were going to have to get the page magnifier to keep with it. You know, the one that looks like a sheet of paper that will magnify the whole page?

Yes, I do. It takes me longer to read the small print. I wear glasses and can not see to read a thing without them. I have to have them on to read. I have tried some reading glasses when I lost my glasses and it's just not the same. They don't work as well. Some times it looked like I was looking at capitalized Greek letters and let me tell you I never took that in college. When the letter are larger I can see them better. But that is my problem since I have the sight problem. I'm just glad I can wear glasses and can see with them.

I do... especially when I'm too near it. I can see my letters sitting back about 3 feet from the screen (ain't that disgusting?) If I get closer, on go the reading glasses! But I have to say, as I told my doctor about my toenails - If I can see it, I can't reach them, and I'm not limber enough to pull them up to see with my glasses on!

That sucks! I don't have too much trouble reading fine print. I do need contacts to be able to see.. but usually as long as my contacts are in or I'm wearing my glasses I don't have trouble. My foster mom used to need a magnifying glass on occasion, as did my Godfather and he was still very young. They should make labels on prescription bottles for those with bad eyesight.. perhaps you can talk to your pharmacist about this.

Hi, Jo....I too have to keep a magnifying glass handy. I have one here by the computer and one by my reading chair. I even have to use it on some computer viewings. I would think that myLot would give you a break if you explained why you have to use the caps in posts. I know those who read them regularly would understand. I've had to use glasses too for the past 4-5 years. At first, it was just for reading and then I realized that when driving I was having trouble with distances. So now I just wear them all of the time.

Like you, my husband has cataracts. He uses a magnifying glass in addition to his glasses all the time. Since I'm a few years younger than he, I can still read the newspaper without the magnifying glass. There are a couple of things that frequently give me trouble, though. To save space, the newspaper has shrunk the comics. Thus, they can put more comics on the page, but it makes some of them hard to read. I tell myself, "It's just the comics. It doesn't matter." and let it go. The other thing, I can't blame the paper for, and since it could affect my wallet, I think it does matter. I'm referring to the small print used for the expiration dates on coupons. They even sometimes print them in a colored area. The 5s and 8s are indistinguishable from one another, if you can find them at all.

I had problems doing stuff with small print when I was a child around the 4th grade like you. Then I had to go see an eye doctor. But once I had gotten my glasses then everything had worked out fine for me. Sometimes I wonder why some places choose to write stuff in such small print. Are they trying to deceive people or just trying to fit all the words on one page.

Not quite yet but am sure it will only be a matter of time. You can make your screen print bigger and I will tell you to press the ctrl key and the + sign and this will enlarge your screen. You can make it smaller again by pressing ctr key and the - key. Try that and see if it helps. But you are right about the prescription bottles they really need to make a huge sign on them because medications can be confusing ant that is very important.

Hi Jo.... I can't understand why small print is the 'in' thing these days. All it does it get people into trouble because they can't read the small print and it entraps people into things they normally wouldn't agree on. Small print should be outlawed/banned altogether. Why is small print around? Is it because these companies have something to hide? Well, yes, they sure do and I say 'shame on them' because that's entrapment but the law says if you signed it then you should've read it. I say 'Really? If I could've read it, I would have!' As for the computer sites, who made all these rules about caps and using the bold print? I think it's just plain stupid. It should be a case of 'to each his own thing' because not all of us are lucky to have good eye sight. It's like someone trying to carry on a conversation with a deaf person. That's not right. You should be able to do what you feel is good for you, not someone on the internet telling you what you can and cannot do. Besides, who bought your computer? YOU did so you should be able to do as you want. Since finding out about your poor eye sight, I've tried to remember to put my response in bold print so you can read it with ease and I'll contiue to do so!

You write in caps all you want Jo. It has never bothered me and your friends here understand. I have never had a problem with my eyes..but my family has. My youngest has an appointment Friday for her eyes. She got here and there glasses last year but I am thinking she needs them most all the time. Take care and you are more than welcome to write anyway that makes you comfortable as far as I'm concerned.

I know what you mean. It is very hard for old people to read newspapers with columns in fine print. Maybe they are trying to save money by reducing the number of pages of the newspapers. I suggest that you write to the editor of the newspapers and tell them about your problem.

yes,me as an old folk understands the situation of having a hard time to read very small letter. I had an experience when I left my eyeglasses, I got an item which I needed badly but just placed it back to the rack because I might go out of my budget, I could not read the amount written on it.
