my moment of fame?

Hi everyone,
As many of you know, I am not feeling well because of the chemotherapy that started last week. I had an interesting day though. I got up this morning to get labs done in town and the guy at the front desk took me to my appointment and waited for me to take me back to the motel. I slept for several hours after that and then spent a little time on the computer. After I went out to get ice for my water, I went upstairs to check my mail. When I was getting ready to go back to my room a lady approached me and asked if I was busy. I told her I wasn't and she wanted to know if I could help her out. Of course, I said yes. What she wanted was me to go and say a few lines in a barn. It would have been nice to be paid for the experience, but if they make this into a series (on the travel channel?), then I might be able to be in it regularly as it might be in the introduction. They told me I had a really good drawl. I just had to say I needed a bull for my heifer and she was really picky. In the last shot, the other guy said they (the bulls) were picky too. It was too funny. It made for an interesting day I think. Have a great day!!!

Sounds like you had a great and interesting day indeed! Glad you feeling a bit better and that all is going well.
Since you have been through the treatments before it seems you are handling it all better. Hope you get the chance of making this a series, I think that would be fun.

I think it would be fun, but I don't know how long I can put on the "southern drawl" if you know what I mean. it is one thing to do it for one or two lines, but if it is for 30 minutes or more, it might be difficult.

Just listen to a lot of things on TV that have the drawl they like. I find that who ever I am around or whatever I am listening to comes out in my voice automatically. Maybe a good session with Paula Deen would do it for you.

Like GG says this may do it for you and you are pretty determined so I think that if you are enjoying it you may find it fun and can actually do it.
From some of your previous discussions I do see that you are very determined which is good especially during the whole treatment time, especially on the days you are feeling up to it. It may give you a boost on the good days and something different to do.
We like to say one day, oh we know her.

I am sorry to hear that you are in a position where you have to take chemotherapy. However, your entertaining day, I'm sure, was a welcome distraction. I hope you have many more days like this one that will bring some fun into your life.

Wow, that was funny. I am glad that it was a good experience and it lightened your day. I do not get the travel channel, but maybe by the time it airs I can afford cable television again. I hope you have lots of positive interesting experiences. All heifers should be picky, dontcha know. Heifer is one of my pet words, grandpa was a cattleman, and my baby cousin could not say "Heather" my given name, but always called me Hefver. I got teased a lot by family over that.

Now that is funny! She didn't know if it would be accepted, but the chance that the scene would be shown weekly at the beginning of the series would be interesting to say the least. It would be my "moment of fame"! Thanks for the response!

See even if a few times, I think it would be good for you to do some outdoorsy fun things.

Yes, even though it was just a 5 minute ride up the hill to a cattle show arena, it was nice to get out and do something different.

I guess they don't like the idea of dealing with someone with a disability. I don't know if I will hear from them again or not, but the fact that they asked me to start with was nice in a way. I just happened to be in the right place at the right time. Thanks for the response!

I am SO glad that you had fun today. An adventure helps a lot when you are not feeling well. So we are going to become TV stars now?

I am doing ok today. My brother came and took me to the store. I bought a slow cooker, some stew meat, potatoes, beans, carrots and an onion and will make a real meal for a change. Unfortunately, there are no easily accessible electric sockets so I unplugged my computer for a while. We will be renting a car this weekend and looking for a car to buy since it is taking too long to get this van fixed. Have a great week!!!

We will see. I won't know until after the footage gets to the network so they can decide if they like the idea or not. They said they would let me know. Film would be shot at this truck stop where my motel is located so I am in the right place if they do decide they want me.

I don't mind. I had a recurrence of ovarian cancer. I have to limit my fresh fruits to those that can be scrubbed to make sure they don't affect my weakened immune system. The first time around, they told me I couldn't have ANY fresh produce, but this time they said I could. Thanks for the advice!

When they told me I was diabetic, they just suggested reducing the amount of carbohydrates consumed, not eliminating them altogether. I agree that too much of those things is what CAUSES diabetes, but you do need some of them for health. I bought a slow cooker today because I was tired of eating out of a can so I will see if I can find some good things that I can prepare using that and see if I can start having more fruits and vegetables. The only thing they told me was that it had to be something that could be scrubbed well or else it had to be cooked because my immune system will be weak during treatments. Unfortunately, that means no strawberries and those are my favorite! Thanks for the response!

please search the internet on what fruits and vegetables can do to your health. they will boost your immune system to fight the disease. when i was diagnosed as diabetic, the doctor advised me not to eat many foods like carbohydrates, sweets and soft drinks, etc. the more i follow the doctor's advice the more i become weaker and weaker so i search the internet and eat moderately of the foods that are banned for diabetics. gradually, i regain my strength and maintain my weight.

Sounds like it was something that helped keep your mind off of the treatments. When i was going through my chemo treatments I felt the sameway, I slept for a day and a half after my rounds. But I remember going to a baseball game with my mom for a minor local team. They did fan of the night and I got to be the fan. This was my 7th month of treatment, so I got to go on the hometeam dugout as they announced me and announced I was going through treatments and hoped I was going to be done soon. Afterwards a lady came up to me and asked if i would speak to her daughter who was just diagnosed with what I had,of course I said yes and was able to help someone else who was going through the same thing I was. It was a nice feeling and took my mind off of things.

Nothing ever came back to me on that experience. I kept hearing about the show, but I never watched it since I am not into television at all. I think that was a great experience you described. It really does help when you can encourage someone else who is going through something you have been through and they can see it is not the end of the world. I know I was talking recently about setting up a gynecologic cancer support group in this area and I had contacted a couple of like-minded individuals in the area, but we haven't actually met to discuss it yet. Maybe after my doctor returns from maternity leave we can do some more serious planning because she likes the idea. I just hope I can make this happen. Have a great year!!!

They had actually planned to do this shoot over the weekend when there was a cattle show by the truck stop where the motel I live in is at. But by the time they were ready, all the cattle were gone so they just picked the first person who came along...me. I still sometimes say "about" the way they do in Canada since my ex-sister-in-law is from there.

You are right about that. I have been having a hard time of it over the last week. They started me on antibiotics today for something "growing in my urine". I guess that is what was causing my fevers. Hopefully I will be over this before Monday so they don't delay my next chemo. Thanks for the response!

I use to pray a daily rosary since 15 years ago. I don´t leave a day without a rosary. I´ll be praying for you, for the success of your chemos! Please keep me updated with your relief. I know it is being hard for you, in any way, psicho and physic. Keep on touch telling us, the mylot community, how is your treatment going.
My very best friend is in a wheel chair, and she has some fevers due to the urine, too, and she is treated as well with antibiotics, and she is going fine.
And I know three friends of mine that have finished with success their chemos. I´ll be praying.
Blessings!...
Dainy
