hi! i've visited indonesia and actually stayed 5 months there at one point. we have a lot of stuff from indonesia including wood carvings, furnitures, clothes, artworks and trinkets. we had bought a lot of batik shirts and cloths. great patterns, if i may say so. i even witnessed one demo of a mother-daughter tandem of hand-made batik in yogyakarta. the ones in jakarta malls have a wide price range. of course the more beautiful ones are really expensive, especially the ones commercially sold in bali. the arts and culture of indonesia is really worth treasuring. i hope it will be preserved for a long time. selamat pagi!

I LOVE batik! When I was in high school, we had a student teacher who taught us how to do it. Not something I would want to do every day, but it gave me a GREAT admiration for the art form and the fabric. I have some beautiful batik fabric in my "stash" I want to sew with some day.

i am not really big fan of Batik Tulis i think---that is because of the price what i am prefer to buy batik first is the comfort of the batik it self. i love the batik made from cotton. i don't like silk batik even it is comfort than cotton.

Batik Tulis was very expensive, for people whose income is not much. Buy Batik Tulis can not afford. So the choice, only able to buy a cheap batik.

Hi Ifa!. Most batik in mall is the printing one and not handmade thats called batik tulis which I think is the truly batik and a master piece because its takes month to made one. I personally think the printing one like regular fabric not so special because its like mass production not like Batik tulis.

yes, you are right indah. Batik is one our ancestral heritage. Batik is well known from Java especially Jogja and Central of Java. In Bali, we have Batik as well. Batik style in Java with in Bali a little different because of cultural differences. In Bali, we have another batik called batik ikat or tenun ikat. We call it with Endek. Endek is used widely in Bali, especially for Hindus prayer cloth. Even, Endek is used for uniform employees and government officials.

Hi, I came form my mother wombs :) and I wear batik in every Friday, and in some occasion like weeding party, and I have had sent some pieces to foreign friend to their home, and believe me the delivery cost is about 10x or higher then batik price :p, and when they have it on their hands, they say like this "wow, so beautiful my, can you send me another motif, my wife like it very much" ha ha... and I replied "why not, but my pocket will dry out my dear" I'm proud of my ancestor inheritances........

Is it true that expensive shipping costs? You send to where? I once sent a batik, for my friend who was in Japan, and in my opinion, no expensive shipping costs.

It's very expensive. Why do you use courier services? Is not there a cheaper than courier services.
• Indonesia
11 Apr 11
To Vietnam and to Poland, I'm using courier service at the time, not using Indonesia post services. Hmm.... let see, I bought the batik for daily use the cost is about 130.000 IDR and the cost of delivery to VN is USD 238 VAT excluding, and to Poland USD 472 VAT exclude, and now you can calculate how many batik you can have with those delivery cost :) it was about a year ago

I have never worn Batik clothing, but my aunt used to Batik her pillow cases to hide stains. It is very pretty... but I'm not sure it is something I would wear on an article of clothing.

Well I am in the USA and I use batik in many projects. In fact I am using a fiery colored piece as the background of my sister's wedding quilt. It is a large 45" by 50" base for silhouettes of guitars and music notes. I also just finished making matching Easter dresses for my 4 girls from a batik of pale yellows and purples, well almost finished any way I have silver piping to put around the bottom still on the oldest's.

Hi indahfth, I had not heard of the batik brand so I went online and saw they had a website. I have very similar clothing but they are not the same brand. I like the way the beautiful colors go together on some of the designs. Here is the link and let me know if it is the same. Not a referral link: http://batikclothing.com/

Batik are not a brand clothing but its way to made pastern in fabric by using hot candle with canting. Its made by making tiny dot with until got specific pattern and usually called batik tulis (hand writing batik) the most expensive one because its take month to made a piece of it. Now there are printing batik but its will not defeat the unique and complexity pattern of Batik tulis. I personally prefer Batik tulis because its will show its self for its quality and great for collection, something I can give to my future daughter.

Batik art is not just high- value, is also not just a piece of cloth used as clothing. Batik has a million meanings into the image of Indonesian national identity. meaning to the motif, which made one of Indonesia's wealth, became very special. At least there are more than 3500 heritage motif, with a million meanings, philosophical values, and hope in it. A piece of batik cloth, to reveal the social status, which originated the environment, cultural history, and for what occasion use.

My friend used batik in one of their program last year. Batik are really useful to use and I have two of this. I remember we use it also for a dance number during the family day. You can use it as a blanket and coat if you are feeling cold.

Hi Indah!. I had it few and made it into formal dress and formal shirt. I love the colorful one but in one tone so its not look to childish. Batik now become a world heritage so every one can preserve and modify it. I hear many world class using batik pastern in their latest design, and off couse the pater will look unique and exclusive .

I am Filipino but I grew up in Brunei and I have worn batik before. I remembered we have this Bahasa Melayu festival at our school and we were told to wear either the batik or the traditional costume. I chose the traditional costume but I had to wear batik the day after that because I attended a special occasion there. My mom has loads of batik clothes too.
