So, do you actually believe in exorcism? Do you believe some people acting crazy and abnormal because demon possession, or they should see the psychiatric instead? I recently saw that movie "The Rite", it claimed it was based on a real event, and true story. I just don't know whether that is a truth or not. It is a bit scary to believe the existence of demon even though without any scientific proof, still, there are many abnormal activities and nature of human behavior that we can not explain from scientific angle too. What do you think of it?

In my religion, the priest must first find proof/signs that an individual is truly possessed by demon. It must be performed with permission from the high authorities of the church. some signs of being being possessed are: A cold feeling in the room. Change in voice. Individual is speaking in languages that he never heard or learned. Has physical strength above his age and normal condition. Hates the name of God, Jesus, Mary or other religious individuals. Suffers intense pain when scriptures or prayers are being read. Unnatural bodily postures.

Demons are pretty real.. I have seen some news and documentaries (in our country) about people being possessed, by either demons or "engkanto" (environmental spirits that have the ability to appear in human form)... It's quite rare though, most of them are peaceful if you just leave them alone and don't bother them...

I'm really not sure. I do believe that there are demons that can invade you with bad thoughts and evil spirits. But the way certain movies protray the happenings of trying to release these demons seems so unreal to me. I remember seeing a movies like this before "The Hunting in Connecticut" was the title. It was a movie based on this same concept and, everything seemed so unreal, just my opinion.

In my country there are some stories of people being possessed by demons and they act very strangely and unnatural,I've seen on TV the actual videos of them. There are no scientific explanation to this and sometimes even the person possessed doesn't know what transpired after the incident. So it goes to say that we have to stick with our spiritual faith and hang on to that. :-)

I also did. Yes, I do believe on that. Devil do really exist, they tend to disguise for them not to distinguish exactly who they are. But, I always belive that good will always be on top than bad/evil.

I think I do believe in this to some extent, especially these days. some people's minds are not normal and they do not live normal lives and their minds are corrupted to make them do evil things.

I have no idea if people can really become possessed or if exorcism is doing anything apart from distressing eveyone. what does disgust me as the mother of an Autistic child is hearing that a mother believed her Autistic child was possessed by the devil and put him through a for exorcisms trying to get out the bad spirit... This boy was suffocated with a bad over his face during an exorcism. This is horrifying! I could never do that to anyone.

Well, Christ exorcised demons, as did His followers. And I believe in Him. If you read one particular new testament account, Christ evicted demons from one man, which demons promptly entered a herd of swine (those poor mentally-challenged swine...) which immediately threw themselves en masse off a cliff. Today, exorcists still work. Are there false ones? Charlatans? Of course. Every good thing has its bogus version; that doesn't negate the reality of the real thing. I know one true exorcist, an Eastern Orthodox Christian. He was brought in on at least one local case of a patient in the state mental hospital here in Austin, Texas, & his work was witnessed by staff & others, though few will talk about it. There are many cases where one could & should consider psychiatric help, but others are clearly not due to any variety of mental disorder...unless people with schizophrenia can levitate.... I'm just sayin'... Maggiepie "In nature there are neither rewards nor punishments; there are consequences." ~ Robert Green Ingersoll, lawyer & orator (1833-1899)

NO! I don't believe in exorcism at least not the sort that we see in TV, and movies. I believe that some people have extreme mental illness in which they "sike" themselves out into believing that there are possessed. the mind is very powerful especially if a person is not mental strong there susceptible to suggestion even self suggestion meaning if someone believes there possessed or that they can be possessed they can cause a mental meltdown, and that person can appear as if there possessed, and the only cure is the same cure you see in films a placebo if you will, or hospitalization. I think there's a such thing as sickness of the mind (not) soul or body possession. don't get me wrong I'm a really open minded person, I mean I'm usually the person who thinks any things possible. but possession is one thing I've never believed in not because of fear but because I just don't believe things like that are real though they make it look really convincing in movies but its not real. As I said I think that people who act out like there possessed are suffering some form of extreme mental illness, and people tend to be easily swayed by things that appear supernatural, people also tend to accept what they see on film and TV as real, but there actually there just being tricked by illusions of the mind. sorry I don't mean to sound close minded because I'm not, but things like that just don't exists and for the record I'm a spiritual person who grew up in a religious family but I have a tight grip on reality, and I don't believe every claim made or movie I see for that matter.

I think some are real while others are hoax. I do believe there is demons, even if it can be proven by science. Maybe such happening is lesser these days cause not any believe them or the demons just possesses human body now and it create a havoc in our normal life. There are many un-solved cases in this world, so my believe is that because unexplainable or people would not see and believe about the other option and demon does it.

I don't believe in demons and things like that. But I suppose exorcism can act like some kind of shock therapy if the sick person actually believe they're possessed. Or as some kind of placebo cure. But I'm sure getting psychiatric help is always the best and safest option.

This stuff scares the living heck out of me, YES This stuff is true the movie The Rite I thought was crap. There was a famous exorcism case that took place in the 70s, look it up on youtube type in Michel exorcist. It still gives me nightmares to this day. Usually my posts are longer but this is a topic I would like to stay away from.
