What is the shortest time you have been employed in a company? I was having a chat with a friend and i post of brought up the same topic when i told them that my current job is a record breaker because i am only here for 6 months. And then one said she had the winning title because she was in a job for 3 days and then resigned. Haha. So, what was the shortest time you were employed in a company?

I actually worked for a company for only one day! I realized that by the end of the day that a telemarketing company job was just not for me! the company was better off without my help.

I lasted a month at my telemarketing job. Only reason I lasted that long was because there was a month of training. My second day on the phones I realized it was not going to work out. Lol.

I tied you, sender. When I was in college, back in the Middle Ages, I sold encyclopedias--for one day. I knew it was not for me. I did not even bother to collect my pay for that day. I earned enough from the experience of knowing that I am not and never will be a pushy, aggressive, door-to-door salesman.

I worked for 2 days at one job and a month at another one. Those don't go on my resume.

Personally i have been quite diligent at keeping at the few jobs i have had for long peiods of time. But i can see the funny side to this discussion and would like to share my brothers girlfriends short employment story. She was really excited that she got a job at the local chicken shop serving but was sacked on her first day after he dad came in and ordered food which she rang up at the right price then he got 2 drinks and sat down and she forgot to ring it up but he was still waiting for his food when the boss came out said she was giving him special treatment and sacked her on the spot. Poor girl, she honestly forgot but was to embarassed to argue the fact after such a short amount of time and infront of her family.

3days? Wow..that was a record. Never knew anyone who resigned after 3days of being in the job! As for me, my shortest would be 2 months or 7weeks to be exact. The job was not that stressful but the journey from home to work plus the shift is killing me. Plus it was my first ever job and I was not used to working that kind of job for it was way too far from my profession and love. It was worth the try tough and the pay was good but my body just can't take the fatigue anymore.

The shortest time that i was employed to a company was 5 months and a half. I have to resign because i am not happy with it. The pay is good, but i realized i miss my family in the province. So, i resigned and went home to the province.

Well, the shortest amount of time I have ever worked somewhere for someone was 7 weeks. I got let go for a situation beyond my control, and actually felt good in time about no longer working there, as personally they are one of the worst run businesses out there for an Electronics store as they often get lot of complaints as well.

3 days? And here I thought I held the record! LOL The shortest time I've been employed with a company was 5 days. It was for a small assisted living facility. And even though it was small, the workload was just too much for one person to handle alone. As it was, the girl that trained me quit because of it. She worked there for a whopping 2 and a half weeks! She only stayed on because she had given her notice. I would have done the same, but my MIL convinced me to do otherwise so I just walked out. I felt bad at first, but I don't regret doing it as that job wasn't a typical job. It was a nightmare! Happy mylotting!

I had one job with a temporary agency that they didn't even keep me for a full day because I couldn't keep up with the machine I was operating. Of course, since that was a temporary job, that doesn't really count. I worked in one fast food place that worked me maybe one day in a week and I told them if they didn't schedule me more that I didn't need to be there. Needless to say, I didn't work there long!

My shortest job lasted 2 months. I worked in a home for people with special needs. I liked the work as such, but there was a very bad atmosphere among the co-workers. There was a lot of gossip and my co-workers often talked about me behind my back. One of my co-workers and I worked together in the beginning because she had to show me the different things that I had to learn. She gave me instructions about the work and afterwards my co-workers criticized me for following her instructions and said a lot of bad things about me. When I told her about the other co-worker's reaction she claimed that she had never said she things that she did. I didn't feel welcome in the group of co-workers, many of the others had been there for 20 years or 25 years and they didn't like new co-workers or new ways of doing the work.

I worked at wal-mart for a month as seasonal help. I didn't think the job was going to be more than that. It was just for the christmas season. my job now, I just gave them my 2 weeks notice and I've been there for about 4 months or so. my first job I had when I was 16 was for about 3 months during the summer. honestly I couldn't stand to stay at any of those places for that long, 4 months at this place I'm at now feels like a lot longer. I suffered through 4 years of high school and that was the worst experience of my life. I'm going to go to school online to become a medical transcriptionist and I think thats a job I could do for the rest of my life if I need to and it could be bearable.

I'm not sure if I would be the record breaker if I would tell you my story. I'm the type of person who doesn't want to leave the company for so petty reasons. I stayed with my first job for almost 10 years..could you imagine that? Then the succeeding ones lasted for a year, then 6 months for it is contractual basis, then the other one lasted only 3 months...yes, just the same with your friend. But I remember that the shortest I had is when I started today, I was introduced to other department's staff, I noticed something when they started asking which department I was in, and someone commented that he wanted to bet that I won't last for a week. This made me think but just shrugged my shoulders for I know how I managed to deal with different people, and even capable of doing challenging tasks. But when I got a conversation by phone with the owner or the CEO, and meet him the next day...after lunch, I decided to submit a resignation letter. That made the person who made the bet won. And that was the time also I proved that they have the reason why no one lasted in the said position though with high salary. True enough, there are some things that we did not expect to test our limitations. My total days in that company as staff?.. actually it was only 1.5 days. Happy mylotting. After then, I have more than a year with the next, and now..I'm in my 5th month with my new employer and hoping to find a stable company for me to stay my entire working age. Happy mylotting.

Three days? Ha, ha. That's good. It doesn't take a very long time for someone to know whether it is the kind of job he or she wants. My first job was the shortest job I've held---6 months.

My shortest time would be a day. And this happened twice. The first time was on my first job. The workplace was so chaotic and it was my first time to an unfamiliar place so I quit. The second time was when I was to head the Accounting Department of a company. However, base on conversations with the employees, it isn't a very good company and the processes are still being handled manually. I was really looking forward to companies using automated accounting system because I never had an experienced with it and I know when you have such an experience, your marketability would increase. Most big companies right now are into automated accounting system. So I really wasn't happy with it so I just quit. Fortunately I was able to look for a better company and I am really happy with what I'm doing right now.
