A Salary Increase would be a nice inspiration at work.

The celebration of Labor Day on May 1 bring hope to all employees in the Philippines that the President will mandate an increase for the salary of the whole workforce. Though I am working with a government agency, I am hoping that in case there would be a salary increase, our agency would be included. Because I am working with the GOCC or a Government Owned and Controlled Corporation, our salary increase depends on our budget savings. But since, our rate is patterned with another bigger government agency, I am not so positive about it. I hope that we just adopted the salary increase pattern or the salary standardization of the National Government so that we have a clear pattern on when and how much would be the increase of our pay. I feel that our future is at the mercy of our big bosses who unfortunately adopted another way of establishing the salary rate which only benefits the higher management.
I think salary increase after a certain year would be a nice inspiration at work. Don't you think so?

I think it is a good inspiration, especially now that the purchasing power of the peso has gone really low. But I hope the salary increase will include Employment-By-Job-Order (EBJO) / Contractual / Casual employees. I'm an EBJO in a government agency, and our salary is P300 (Bulacan area). We only have allowance of P2000 a month and nothing more. I really hope it includes us and not just regular employees, since most work is done by EBJOs.

There are lots of employees here like you who are either a JO or a CS. Unfortunately, they are always not included in any salary increase for they are bound with the contract that they signed in. In our agency, they give an increment of 20% to the monthly salary to augment the other benefits that a regular employees had. But I know it is not enough because the job stability is more important than the monthly rate. Like you, I started as JO, then a Contractual Employee until I got the opportunity to be in plantilla position with a salary grade of 14. 8 years ago, I was promoted as SG-18 but then my rate did not substantially change up to this time. I hope that with the coming new Administration in our agency, they would have a concern with the employees' welfare and satisfaction. If at my rate now, I am still not happy with my pay, I am very sad with the others who have lower SG than me and those who have bigger family.

Malacanang Spokesperson Edwin Lacierda announced yesterday that definitely there would be a good news on Labor day. I hope it would be sufficient enough for us to cope up with the high price of commodities nowadays. As of present, I am worrying on the future of my children. How could I give quality education for them if my salary is not enough to pay for their tuition fees. I hope we could feel the change sooner with the administration of our new President. I know he was doing his best, the exposure of graft and corruption in the military had warned other high ranking officials to stop or maybe to minimize the corruption that they were doing. I hope we could get back what was stolen in the Philippine Pockets and shared with the poor people living in our country.

Yes to get increase is really inspiring and it is really nice to be part of a company that gives regular increase to employees as incentive. But nowadays, it is really so hard to look for such kind of company. So many people are underpaid in fact and yet they still work because they have no choice for there are no other job opportunities in store for them.

I really hope so, all basic commodities, the transportation fare and all the things we buy or pay raises but the salary is still the same. How can we be able to live with a very low salary if the prices are too high. So sad that a regular worker only gets a very low salary while the management, key personnel and the owner benefited well and have lots of benefits that they do not need at all.

Indeed, a salary increase would be a very nice inspiration at work. Getting high quality job performance from the employees depends on giving employees opportunities for their personal growth, achievement, responsibility, recognition and reward. Pay money -is the primary need and reward. Once the compensation (pay and benefits)is established properly, it is necessary to use other means to further motivate improve employees output.

Hi there!
I agree with that.. It will help us motivate and work harder. It's been too long for that increase of salary issue but still it remains as is. That's why most people in the Philippines work abroad because of the insufficient salary.
Good people, bad government.

I have read in the news that Filipinos are the most dissatisfied workers. I think the main reason for that is they dont get what they deserve. When it comes to salary, there are so many company owners who dont follow the labor code. People work 8 hours a day but they still get the minimum wage while people from other countries work for only a few hours but they got paid fairly. Who's to be blamed? The government of course cause everyone in the position is corrupt. That's why I dont pay taxes cause the government will be using it for their own benefit and not for the development of the country.

yes! i certainy agree with you. the price of every commodity is going up and our salary is still the same. I hope and wish that there will be an increase in the salary so that we are all able to afford all the things that we need.
