An update on my dad for my friends and others here on the lot. dad has been admitted to a nursing home for rehab, PT, and to tend to his UTI. He is still bleeding and there's still clots. His next urologist appointment is May 10th and hopefully things will be better at that time. It's not the same without him around. Even though I need a break from caring for him, the house seems empty without him. Ever get the empty house feeling? Thanks all.

Yes, I know that empty house feeling. I had it after my mother went home after visiting me for 9 months. I wondered once how it would be when my dogs were no longer here and got a glimpse of that empty house feeling that I'd experience. It's hollow and empty and cold.
I hope your dad can come home soon, in good health. Hope the wife's surgery goes well, too.

I understand that empty feeling. He has pretty well been constant there for a long time. I hope your wife did well and will be back soon to keep you company. My wish and prayer is that he get his strength back soon and return home.

Well, it has got you to visit us, at least for today. You have really provided him a good place to be.

I'm sorry Grandpa Bob, I will you and your fmaily in my prayers.
Yes, I experienced the "empty house feeling" every time a child moves out, expect this last time, within months of my third child moving out, my second child moved back in..

Our 29 year old son recently moved out again. But it isn't the same feeling though as dad was here all thew time and our son was here just a few hours a day and when he slept. So we don't miss his presence as much as dads.

I was just asking about your parents in the other discussion, wondering if all was well with them. I am sorry to hear he is in the nursing home, but thankfully there he will get all the help and therapy he needs.
Gosh do I know this feeling so well about an empty home, I have been feeling this for a while since the kids have grown up. My life was them and although they are doing oh so well, I can't help but miss the havoc while they were at home.
I hope you father does well there and that all will be fine soon.

They have no idea at this time why. But his appointment May 10th will be a help I feel. I think they'll do the scope to see in there to find the problem. Deb's surgery is the 4th, next Wednsday.

I am glad that you are getting a little break. I hope he gets better, of course, but having seen my grandmother take care of my grandfather, I know you must have needed some time to breathe. I now watch my dad take care of my mother and long to be able to just give him some time to take care of himself. I hope you can recoup a little energy for yourself as well. : )

I took a few walks today of a mile and a half each. That released a lot of stress. Then I took my Beagle, Buster, for a couple walks as well. So I am finding time for me sort of. But Wed is my wifes surgery so back to stress. HAHAHA!

Oh grandpa bob, dear one I'm so sorry to read this about your dad. I do know what you mean about needing a break but not in this way. And I know how you mean when the house feels so empty too because of my mom being in the hospital for almost 2 months. Bless his heart and yours! Hopefully in the next day or two he'll be feeling a lot better with the antibiotics that he's being given. Please know that you and your dad as well as your wife are in my thoughts and prayers

Thanks. I don't think he'll be much better in the next few days healthwise. His spirits are up though. Thanks also.

Hello Grandpa Bob.
Again, i am sorry to hear that he is has not recovered yet, and i am hoping and waiting for good news from the next doctor appointment.
I have had the empty house feeling, when my girlfriend was in the hospital in February-March and i already had my foot fingernail operated and could not go to visit and see how she is as she was in a different city and i wasn't yet allowed to walk to much.

Hi, GrandPa Bob. I haven't been on MyLot in awhile. I am sorry to hear about your father. I was one of the ones that enjoyed your posts about your gardening and your dad, family and also the dog Buster. I will put your dad in my prayers and pray for a speedy and full recovery. I will be checking in to see how he is progressing. Be blessed.

By the sound of your other discussion, it won't be long before he comes home. I bet the house does seem empty. I have my step daughter and her daughter living with me. It would not be so bad if they helped out with utilities. They also have stuff piled up all over my house. I say they are house apes, I have to see some humor in it. I am looking forward to having my house back to myself. But at the same time I know some part of me will miss having someone around. Its just a tough situation that I am in, its also been going on a year now. Enjoy the time you have now, your dad will be home before you know it.
