Is it always true that behind every great man there is a woman?

Not all the time. I believe this applies only to men with women as a partner or as their wives. There are great men who did not essentially need a woman to succeed. There are also gay men who had succeeded without a woman (of course). Women (I am one, FYI), can serve as inspiration but we have to accept that each man is different from every man and from all other men. Different men to different inclinations, different men to different likes and dislikes, and so on...

Dear Ms. Bingskee I agree that behind every great man there is a woman - no matter whether he is gay or straight or anyting else - Simple reason - he wouldnt be there if there was no woman.

I disagree.. if god wanted to create a man, man could even be born to aliens.

But god didnt want the world to be devoid of all the love and caring the women give... and so as per my knowledge - no man can be born without a woman however as per science, woman can give birth to a man without having the need of a man http://www.independent.co.uk/news/science/the-prospect-of-allfemale-conception-444464.html [not a referral link]

Ok .. I agree. The wife gets up in the morning and goes to the loo, husband follows, wife goes into kitchen, husband goes right behind her to check whether or not she is making him what he likes, ...in short..women do everything and man becomes great by standing in front of her.

...husband follows...husband goes right behind her.... Then how comes he becomes great by standing In Front Of Her After hours of trying to figure this out, I give up

I'm not sure whether that applies or not.... All I can see is great men, maybe women are hiding behind still This world is so full of both genders, it is impossible that no woman ever gets behind a man great or not. ..... Hmmm hmmm seems I failed to express myself well.

well, i know of an already popular schoolmate now turned politician who does not have a woman partner by his side. he is gay. but thesids is right, a mother can be considered the woman here. but not all mothers can be considered as inspiration. tried to decipher ha ha

Hi... why you are thinking that woman as a wife? she may be a mother. Is not it? Everyone needs a mom whatever he is... gay or something else.... have a nice day.

Hi bingskee I look at this way that besides a good man there is a woman and between the two they create a wonderful home. We all know that not homes and couples see it this way. In my home currently this how we have it. Besides my great man there is this great woman besides him. See he does his laundry, cleans floors, cooks and does dishes and or I do the same so besides us two we have a wonderful home.

i get your point. you are talking about man and woman side by side, not one above the other, or lower than the other. that would be ideal. i did not mean it that way. the question meant for me that the reason for a great man's success is a woman. it is how each of us interpret actually. no harm done.

i think in many a powerful reign a woman has pulled the strings. you only have to look at my marriage to see that. (kidding, my wife is the boss!) Napoleon and Alexander the great had woman behind them guiding them. men can do the dirty work but women are smarter at decision making. it is a good partnership.

I don't think every man has to have a woman behind him to succeed. For the gay man you mentioned he most likely has a very supportive partner. I think it can be a team effort with each partner (or spouse)offering the other support which helps them both succeed. But there have beeen cases where people succeeded and were single - or even had a spouse who opposed them... that's a sad case. But it's important for those who are married to be supportive.

indeed, macdingolinger, not all successful man has a woman by her side. it is not always the woman, it is who were there that serves as strength, be it a man or a woman.

Yes, there's normally a woman somewhere - nagging! OK, call it inspiration if you like. It isn't necessarily a wife, it could be a mother, a sister, or just an annoying secretary. Perhaps this is the reason why men are more likely to succeed than women. In order to give real equality to women, it's time we men started nagging. What do you think?
