Why are VAMPIRES so popular on TV and on movies?

Whether they are liked or hated in any setup of a show, vampires seem to be the most "showbizically" popular on TV and on movies, as compared to their supernatural cousins like the ghouls, the dwarfs, the ghosts, the zombies and the horrorific like. Since the ages of stage theater, vampires have this some type entertainment value that they're frequently "part of the cast." In my opinion, what makes vampires so popular is that they are portrayed to be almost-humans and that they are capable of love so they have to struggle having to see the ones they love die if they don't turn their sweethearts into their own species. Vampires are also typically shown as witty-mysterious guys and gals when they are in their human form making them very attractive to many, or whatever. LOLs How about you? What's your explanation regarding this?

"showbizically" I like your term huh... Maybe becoz vampires are sweet and they knows how to fall in love you know "churva" (ahahaha) okay, film directors and producers will always look/search for what's in/trend/fad and will be a hit...as simple as that. vampires hit the movie fans...give them what they want

Got that term from a friend. Am glad you liked it. They sure are portrayed with a lot of "churva" (Soooo gay. LOLs). Like that for Vampire Diaries and the Twilight Saga. I don't really like the latter though. Can't stand it - think they're a little too "OA." Vampire Diaries series = much better.

well...i don't like either sorry but i don't go for movies like that, maybe when i don't have any choice or when my kids are watching,so i watched with them. But good thing they also doesn't like those movies "twilight" never caught my kid's interests. they'll prefer to listen to their music and play their instrument (guitar, flute, organ) than watching movies. but, they can never resists animated ones...looking forward for kung fu panda

Vampires are often describes as handsome creatures with very mysterious personality. That is the big factor why girls love vampire movies or series. I was once a big fan of Vampire Lestat, a character from the books of Anne Rice played by Tom Cruise in the movie Interview with the Vampire. Still wondering if these creatures really exists though. ^.^

good that you like rice's vampires. i used to be a fan myself. but since some "new" vampire fad surfaced, i came to loath them in general. most people say they "like" them. i'd say they do just because of their popularity. but these people really don't know and don't care what vampires are all about. they probably don't even know what the talamascans were or who bram stoker is. and interview with the is where you'll see cruise, pitt, banderas, and dunst among others in a single movie all in their early roles.

Vampires are usually portrayed with subtle violence, even though they are the villains. They just bite on the victim's neck and that's it. When not in monster form, which by the way consists only of having a pair of fangs, they are just like humans, except their dislike for sunlight such as Edward Cullen and the rest of Twilight vampires. Well, as for the casting director of vampire-themed films, maybe getting a handsome actor is definitely an added factor for the movie.

Well, i think vampires became popular because the actors that played this role really looked HOT! :). They are very handsome and beautiful.

Everyone loves to be a sexy predator who can suck blood in a style people would do anything to 'look hot' these days and the shows portray them as the hottest guys/chicks (Twilight is a fine example) Everybody loves to be a vampire

I guess it has alot to do with the supernatural. I think alot of people like the scary looking people and their fangs.

Been wondering about that very same thing myself. The subject has always been around on TV and movies, but lately there's a glut of this type of program. Perhaps the Harry Potter craze for some years now had opened up a Pandora's box of dark characters. Unfortunately, I don't have an answer for you. When or if you find out, do let us know. LOL

Something unknown and yet mysterious seems to to qique our curiosity and keep it there. the world of vampires has gained a lot of popularity with the sensation of twilight. i think it will be be that way until another phenomenon comes along to replace it.

I have no idea, I have always liked vampires though, ever since I saw Underworld..and I am quite happy that they have become so famous these years. And I agree with you, one reason for this is that they are attractive "capable of loving"- some people even want to be vampires themselves.

Yes i think vampires are gaining an increased popularity now a days on telivision.......The way they symbolize love, emotion, power and cruelity is widely accepted by many people....and especially since they are humans ,it scores a plus point in media than a supernatural hero.....i think after the series of twilight saga many t.v channels have incresed shows on the vampires.....
