How Can I Fight Sleep?

Philippines
May 30, 2011 9:02am CST
There are times when there are so many things to be done so I cannot go to sleep yet even though I'm terribly sleepy. Since I cannot drink anything with caffeine in it, what can you suggest so I can stay awake?

you are pregnant so when you're feeling sleepy you just should go for it and sllep, because that's mean your body needs this! Please take care of yourself

As you may see later on, I totally agree with this. She needs to rest to have a healthy pregnancy. Maybe a nap during the day, definitely enough sleep during the night.

for some women drinking coffee and not having enough sleep is not having bad effect for baby, but she can also get bad and then is high probability of loosing baby... I lost my baby so I don't wish this to anyone, and don't look at your officemate! just go to sleep when you have to that's all, don't regret later if something bad will happen.

Yes, someone told me about it too. Here's why I think I can stay later than I should. I had an officemate who was having thesis while working, and she's pregnant too. She barely got enough sleep, drank frapuccino most of the time to finish what she's doing, yet her baby came out healthy and cute. I wonder why all pregnant women can't be like that...

First time I've heard about this. I'll try this one of these days. I usually feel sleepy in the early afternoon, which affects my work.

I read somewhere that eating an apple helps. Drinking water too. You could also go for a walk.

I have an apple here which I don't feel like eating, but now that you mention it, I finally have a reason to do so.

The best way to fight with sleep is to wash your face with fresh water & don't lie on bead instead sit on chair. Then again you feel sleepy again wash your face involve yourself in the work which you like most like if you like playing video games play it if you like watching TV then watch TV but don't lye on bed when you watch TV as most of the person sleep while watching TV when they lye on bed.Again if you feel sleepy go & have a walk outside in the balcony or outside your home.

A jose silva method is to get interested in the work u do. when u get interested u r working on ur nervous energy and it stimulates ur brain in lsuch large extent that u wont fall asleep.

I would agree with these words from Richie... Welcome to mylot. That is quite a genuine thing - I always have sufferred from insomnia and the doctors have always told me that it happened because of my passion - I love the work, or anything I do - and it always gets deep in my head.

Ah so that's it. Thanks! :) It happens to me most of the time but sometimes the body takes over the brain. You get what I mean?

I am going to agree with the responder who reminded you that you are pregnant, and need extra sleep to help have a healthy baby. Make sure you get eight or nine hours of sleep, either all at once or by taking a nap. The people who say splash your face with cool water, or take a walk are right. One other thing, some people find the aroma of lemons or of peppermint to be stimulating and help them focus and stay awake. However, if your body needs sleep, you really should listen to it.

One option is to start doing yoga regularly. If you have a limber back, the energy will not be blocked and will be able to flow more freely. This is more of a long-term thing rather than a quick fix, but if you start feeling tired at any time, just start doing some stretches. There is a reason why it feels so awesome.

You can't fight with it ,instead you can make a deal with it , like if you don''t sleep for a day , you have to sleep the next full day .

You know, I already thought of it. But I'm a light sleeper. So I really can't sleep all day. :(

I just read you were pregnant. Are you sure you absolutely have to do everything you think you do?? Maybe you could compromise some of your standards or have someone else help you. Maybe if you ask yourself is it essential I do this, is it more important than sleep for yourself and baby? Congrats a miracle happening to you, take good care of the blessing and yourslef :)

One thing I suggest is to take a stroll. Not an extremely long one that would tire you out, but something to get your blood running. Whenever you start feeling sleepy, try standing up and stretching. Take a break; wash your face and then get back to work. Also, never work on a bed and make sure you're comfortable in your position.

Uh-oh...I'm guilty about working on a bed.
