caught doing MYLOT in the office....

Well, it is not my boss who caught me doing mylot in the office. It's my officemate. LOL. I blushed. haha She's quite intrigued what I am doing over here in my table, so busy typing when I should be pressing some numerical keys on the keyboard. LOL. I am not doing accounting for sure. Then a meeting was called, sadly, I wasn't able to finish a discussion I wanted to start, and my PC is the server, whatever problems with the connections, they'd go check my pc. And there, my office mate opened my PC, look at it, and was accidentally brought to mylot site. Waaaaaaaah, she didn't tell she read my discussion. Then yesterday, I told her I am doing mylot here in the office. Sometimes to release stress, to chat with people here through discussions (educated fun chat)... Ah yes, she said. I have read one of your posts there. Waah, I am blushing, because sometimes I just post anything here, some even personal things really. And she goes teasing me, I know your nick on mylot, and I will join mylot, and follow through your discussions... Well, I already invited her to join mylot before but she just don't believe me when I said, this is an enjoyable site. She's just quite intrigued with the idea that I posts some things here, that I didn't even share with them here in the office. Should I change my username here? LOL. Did this happened to you too?

Hello Chuyins, I hope she's not looking for something to gossip other office mates about YOU You know some Filipinos tend to drill your secrets that they feel some what excited about it. unfortunately, am pessimistic that she can last long in this site knowing that she's doesn't have a clue. and her passion for social network earning is not known but only curiosity. I guess you gonna have to be careful what you say in mylot in case she really joins.. don't change your username. actually, if she doesn't know your mylot username i suggest you don't tell her. probably change your avatar too Have a nice day.

that's what worries me, that's why we should practice being anonymous in mylot because some issues aren't meant to say it personally. THAT has gotten her curious.

Yeah, I get your point there LK. I'd be extra careful from now on. Thanks for the concern. Appreciate it dude!

Ah she's my friend. she just got curious in my online activities. she's not that convinced yet that we can actually earn online. I've shown her proofs of payments but still isn't on it. but i leave it all up to her. I'll show her more proofs soon as I got payments. She's kind to me though. She was just really intrigued how I come to trust mylot with some of my personal issues that I haven't even opened up to her.

That's great. Now you'll have a referral! I also wanted to be anonymous here. But, then, a lotter who responded to my posts discovered who I was! I'd never be caught lotting at the office. All of them are busy at FB

That is right. Well, I think your brave putting your picture in your avatar (well, assuming THAT is really your picture. Could be someone else LOL). I can't put my real picture in there, else, more people might recognize me!

ah, yeah that's me. The real me. well, I didn't reckon it's being brave putting your picture in here. It just dawned on me right now. LOL. But I wont change my pic. I'll leave it there.

Ahaha FB is just a phenomenon here in the office. They always open it first thing in the morning and last thing before going out of the office. Mylot though isn't pretty obvious because it doesn't look like FB at all, and yeah, it's not that known in the office. I am the only one doing mylot in the office. hahaha Yeah, at some point we want to be here incognito by others. Somehow I feel that I could post just anything about me here because no one actually knows me personally, well except for toni here who's been and I've been considering my real friend even offline. But for others, they don't really know me. I enjoy the benefit of being open at least in here. And I was able to do it because no one really knows me in person. A paradox. LOL. :)

I'm not caught yet, and hopefully will not be caught ever . And hey, you don't need to change your username. If she joins myLot and learns something about you that you are not comfortable sharing in the office, then that's something that she should respect . Just my two cents .

Yes, make sure you log out before even closing the browser because if not, your previous session may still be there and if they try to open myLot, it may still open to your page .

You have a great point there Manubla. I don't do it everyday though. And if any meeting should come up, from now on, I should log out from mylot. It's a lesson learned too. hehe

Yeah, I should make sure I have properly logged out, before leaving my area. I should always be reminded of that too.

Don't you ever change your username here hahaha. I have known you with that username from the other chat and i got used to calling you with that name already. You got caught but it came out well anyway. You have invited another person and have shared this wonderful site. I hope that she would be active here as much as we are and she would participate in our discussions too. I have never been in such a position since i work at home and sometimes i do start a discussion or respond while having a class but i never got caught anyway lol.

Ahaha yes my friend. I have been consistently using this username. Thank you for reminding me that. Yeah, it really got her curious why mylot could intrude my personal issues just that easy. haha Well, I didn't intend to make her my referral, but it would be great if she'd join mylot under my refs. Good for you, you just work from home. You will rarely be in a situation to get caught while working. :) Well, I do spend some time here on mylot even if I am here in the office, just to break routines and boredom and at times to release stress.

Chuyins i can't say if you can change your user name or not but to change your user name its like to loose your identity on MYLOT like someone has changed his name. The better option is to please your office mate & take her in confidence & tell her lie that whatever you write on MYLOT don't believe it blindly on all. Also there is one more option to close you present account & start afresh.

Hi Sjvg, I have decided to stay as is now. Well, I am not so afraid that she'd discover something so confidential about my posts. I haven't been so complacent enough to post just anything that's detrimental to my colleagues or of the company... so no worries.

I think you should not change your mylot name (well you really can't change that) It's a cute name. You're lucky to got a chance to use your nickname unlike me I used my real name when I registered, thinking that it is required to use your real name, LOL. You should invite your friend here in mylot the more the merrier. Now I'm starting to invite my friends from Facebook to join me here, I just don't know If they would be interested but i got to give it a try. Right?

Haha thank you for that, made me smile. I've been consistently using this username in the sites that I join, for ease and convenience sake, and this is somehow related to the nickname my mom gave me upon birth. Well, I invited her already, she still don't get the hang out of here, and I have lots of explaining to do, because she's not that easy to convince. I would be glad though if she signs up even if not under my referral. You are right, the more the merrier. I might try inviting via facebook too. One of this days. I am still on a mission. Not to hang out in facebook yet. haha Want to devote my time on work and mylot. haha And hey, "you gotta nice name...." so no worry! :) chuyins

I'm amazed at the number of people who play on the computer when they're supposed to be working. Or texting on their phones. I guess it's a good thing that I'm not a boss any more because everyone would be fired. About 8 years ago in a town in TX, the employees of a very large chemical company were reminded that when they were hired, they were told that they could not use computers for personal stuff - ever. They were reminded that they could not check personal email nor could they go to sites that had nothing to do with their work. About 6 months after they were reminded, one Friday morning 25% of the company was let go because they didn't listen to the management and they continued using computers for personal things. I was impressed with the company for following through that way. http://www.gather.com/viewArticle.action?articleId=281474979285116

That's quite interesting! I suspect that there are a lot of people that actually post away on My Lot during their lunch hour at work or perhaps while they are even involved in work! That sounds like quite a wacky experience you had in any case. Now that you have been found out using My Lot at work perhaps it's a good idea for you to change your username. If your work colleagues want to keep an eye on what you say then it would be very easy for them to do so. You could even try to get your work colleague to become your referral on My Lot so to speak. I wish you luck. Andrew

Hello Andrew, I would surely and gladly welcome them here. Yeah, I usually do mylotting during lunch break. Off peak hours in my work. Sometimes if I am in a very stressful situation, just to break the routine and release stress I do visit mylot.

Well you are lucky that it is not your boss that have seen your computer.Cause for whatever good reason you are doing it in your office, still your boss will still think it is not right to that while he is paying you. I don't think you should change your name, as your officemate might not really remember the username you used or she won't be able to see your activities if you just change your privacy settings. (^_^)

Mylot is not evil on my book. in fact, it's a far more healthy forum site compare to facebook. at least here you get to exercise reading and typing. you might even learn to type with out looking at the key board, because that's what i have learned in mylot for being newbie for six months

Very well said LK. You've gone way too far from me now LK. I joined this site since last year, but I ignored the site, just like som of my friends whom I shared this site with. But now, I am actively participating here, and is enjoying the stay. This isn't really evil. This is great! Good. And very beneficial.

Hi! I am also surfing in mylot sometime in my office, and all my colleague know that I am on mylot, they just wonder why I have so much to write and keep seeing me typing on my computer. Some of my colleague even teasing me saying that why kind of love letter I am writing and to who I write to. I never ask anyone of my colleague to join mylot because I know that non of them are intersted to write in a forum like mylot. So, I am the only one who keep typing in front of my computer whenever I am free. LOL

That might be the case with me too. I work as an accountant so most often they saw my fingers typing words not on numeric keypads, so my office mate maybe got quite curious and that meeting just called it in for her to see what I am doing. And yeah, every lunch break they'd see me typing on my keyboard. And they all thought I am on facebook, but when they look at my screen it doesn't look like FB at all. So they got curious...

I think you don't have to change your username. Unless you're not comfortable being called or teased by that. And I know what you did will start you to become richer for you will going to have lots of referrals from your office. I wish I can do mylot in the office too.

I am not that complacent though in posting anything here that would be detrimental to the company or about my colleagues... so no worries. About her becoming my referral. Well it's up to her.

hi chuyins well lucky you it was not the boss or does the boss mind if you do mylotting at work?well anyway all turned out okay. hope your coworker will join under you as mylot has room always for more people As long as you do not get in trouble for doing mylotting at work I guess its okay. No the job I had did not let me get close to the computers during working hours. on my days off I often came and used the computer to mylot but not on working hours as our boss did not allow that at all. she had no sense of humor whatsoever.

I guess boss wouldn't mind if he notices me doing mylot. He might not know what is it anyway. lol. Well, he caught one of my colleague here doing facebook but he didn't say a word. I don't know, hehe Yeah, lucky me it turned out okay and well. I would love to welcome my officemate in here if she wants to. it's all up to her though. As for me, I enjoyed being here.

I wonder what would be my excuse if my boss or an office mate would see my mylotting. Well, that would definitely be awkward for you. So far, I haven't told any of my office mates what I do when I don't have any task at hand during working hours. They're just not interested and just like you, I also post some random stuff even about the office and I wouldn't want them to see my old discussions where I was so pissed off and all. Unfortunately, we can't change usernames here. I tried before but to no avail.

Good thing she did not complain and or let higher up office know that you are myLotting. You need not worry about your username if you have nothing to hide that is. She may read your discussions even though she is not a myLotter, but maybe that might convince her join someday.

Hi hardworkinggurl, My officemate is nice, she's a good friend too. She just tease me every now and then that she'd know my secrets as she's gonna follow me on mylot. haha She's also interested on reading my write ups. I did gave her my blogsite. But she's just too curious about the things I write down in here... :)

I have a cool boss who doesn't mind me using the internet for things other than work just as long that I make sure that all tasks that need to be done are finished at the end of the day. I also do my share by extending my stay in the office on days when I really have a lot of things to do.
• Philippines

Good for you Jenggai, well, my boss doesn't really say a thing about anything you got caught you're doing. Never heard him scolding anyone for using any social networking sites. But I really don't want to get caught by my boss. It's just so shameful. Like you, I do extend my stay here in the office if something should be done.
