Education is an important tool for each and every child in their growth and development in the world. It can be discouraging for a concerned parent when they feel that the education system is not doing enough for their child and may be letting them down in the process. What necessary steps can a parent take when they feel the education system should be doing something more to encourage their child's education and their future?

Over here , Parents go to the principal of their school and complain Or they take their child out school the bad school and enroll them in a better school and home school them or they get a tutor. Or...Some sue the school. If they tried to get the school to improve and when they don't , they sue.

You have to try All of them. Some will do great with a tutor , others just a change of school.

Parents do have several education options available to their children. Knowing which course of action is best is not always an easy path to follow.

I would go by the steps method. First call a meeting with the school principal, counselor, teacher and whoever else works with your child. I would tell them your concerns and ask them what things are they doing and able to do to ensure your child is getting the input he needs. If they don't answer all of your questions to your satisfaction I would go about them to the school administration.

This would be the sensible thing for a concerned parent to do. sometimes it can be exhausting going through the chain of command in the school system.

A lot of parents are not trusting the education system and are taking matters into their own hands byt home schooling or being active participants at their children's schools. Our school has a whole lot of parent participation so we all trust that the kids are getting the best. You have to be prepared to take a hands on approach, which I know can be hard when you have jobs and other time constaints but it is really important for the sake of the kids.

Children are very important to a parents' life. they are the legacy they leave behind. Knowing that we give our children the best that we can is all that we can hope for.

Parents should not depended on the school education only to educate their child. They should teach their kids from home as their child only learn subjects to sharpen their skills but it just a little bit help in constructing the children attitude, behaviours and manners. They should not let the school alone to take care of of their children as parents play the more vital roles in their life.

Parents truly are a child's first teacher. this is something that should continue on even when the child goes to school. A parent's job doesn't end at home. the school should take on someresponsibility but the child should be the first consideration.

Yeah, but now parents seems to neglect their responsibility because they are too busy with their works and let the teacher to fully guide their children which can't be possible because the teacher need to guide the other children in his/her classes as well~ The victim? Absolutely the child~

Well, as a parent, I see to it that learning does not end after school hours. I tend to check on my kids work and always ask them "how's school?" and we will start discussing about it including their homeworks. I make it a point that they first finish them before doing other things on their spare time. I also help them to do some reviewers to prepare them with their exams.

Parents do need to make the involvement in their child's education to keep going. The school is just a building. Education is the learning process and we need to nurture it in any ways that we can.

Parents should always provide additional education to their children in from what their the school offers. No matter how good the school is, parents can always give their kids more education. If the school system is lousy even more reason for parents to step up and help their kids. I know it’s tough because many times both parents work but they also have responsibilities to the children they have. Education can include inexpensive trips or even rent tapes and teach their kids about foreign lands and geography and history. So much learning can be presented in a fun way and kids will benefit greatly.

Sometimes it can seem like the parents are caring more about how their child's education is going than the school they are attending. it would just be great if everyone could work together towards one goal for the child.

agree the ideal is work together, but if that fails parents need to do what they can to make up for poor schooling by teaching their children themselves. I damire people who home school because I could never do that. I tried to expose my children to many subjects.

The state education system cannot be considered to be the total of a child's education. Education is something that begins at home.

I agree that a child's education should begin in the home. how it continues in schools is where the teacher's guidance needs to step in. thanks for contributing your thoughts.

That is a great question. It is very hard to have an education system that we feel is just not doing the job. I think that parents should try to supplement what they can. There are sometimes some very good programs in one's area they can use. Here, there is the Boy's and Girl's club, The Girl's club, and a few great summer programs at some of the colleges and parks. The fees to these places are often very reasonable. I think the Boys and Girls club is ten dollars a year. There is arts and crafts, study periods, library time, sports, and swimming lessons too. I think if a parent can narrow down their child's needs, they can focus better on what the school isn't doing. They might even reinforce their child's futures by seeing what they want to be when they grow up and find programs that focus on the needs of someone wanting to be that. Of course, they might change their minds later, but that's ok too. They have been educated in certain areas they might not have been before. Then they can maybe try something else.

I agree that there are some great programs out there for our children today. as parents we need to take every opportunity we can to further their interest in their education. what teachers cannnot accomplish must be made up somewhere.

I would send my children to get skills outside the school, like music, singing, sports, photography, sewing, designing, computer programming, etc... based on their interests.

That is a very good point to take . getting children involved in interests outside of school does help them in so many ways. itr doesn't have to be all academic to be worthy. thanks for the response.

In the end, its not what the school teach us that matter, but what our experience told us how to do or handle things that really matters.

We need education to achieve our goal in life and needed to make our dreams come true.So when your child cannot finished study, parent is the one feels sad. When we educate we learn to face failure and success in life, instills a sense of pride about the knowledge one has and prepares him for life. Parent should accept the fact that not all your children finished studies, because everyone has different attitude and thinking.

Thats very good question you have asked , I think that a responsibility of parents to see whether or not their child getting good education or not . If not then it may have many reasons , it may be coz of school or coz of child. parents should provide a good educational institute which has good reputation and this is also not enough . Prents should teach their children about moral values and good manners this is what a person should learn in present days . Bookish knowledge is something else which one can learn easily but the manners and principles are need to be given by parents.

It is a combination of so many qualities that make the educational experience something worthy and rewarding. When obstacles and challenges get in the way of that path, it can make you feel full of doubt at your child's future.
