How many RICE i should eat?

most specially if am on a exercise and diet. there's no way am sacrificing rice because i can't eat other things if it's only bread and butter. that would be a lot for sure not to mention if there's soft drinks and soda's involved.
I think i have eaten too much to boot today. so, am not sure if i can still do the 10 to 20 minute exercise later on. rice has been my constant temptation. not eating much can cause me to have a head ache, that's a reality. but i guess i should start sleeping more hours more often than before. 
Any advice on my rice problem would be worth while.

Hi lateran,
I don't know how much calories do rice contains. I eat rice daily in day meals with chapitis. I am not that much health consious i eat whatever i get to eat when i feel i am hungry.
Important part is you need to take some specific amount of calories as when you are on dieting (dietician knows that better) you need to burn those extra calories by some physical work that may include jogging,exercising etc.Its that simple.

I have no idea what a chapitis is but probably it's something of an Indian specialty. as for jogging, i have said many times that jogging isn't that much of my specialty anymore since i got other equipment that will make me do my job of exercise here in my room. but maybe i should try it just one day.

Chapatis are eaten in INDIA.Wheat is ground & made like powder. Its mixed with water & sort of paste is prepared then this paste is rolled round in a thin film on surface & is baked.Then GHEE or butter is applied on it.It is eaten with fried vegetables.This food is eaten almost by everyone in INDIA and is a common meal.
I said any exercise can be done to burn calories its not necessary you have to jog only. @shattered (1728)

3-5 cups a day is the recommended volume for those working out.
Do not deprive yourself of food especially when you are working out since your body needs the fuel.
2 During breakfast 1-2 during Lunch and 1 for dinner.
Once you get used to exercising again, you could reduce the volume of rice to 3. That is if you really can't get rid of rice!

that's a good advice there. yes, i will do my best to reduce my rice consumption, it seems to me that has contributed to my weight gain through out these years and probably this is a good start to reduce some pounds. but getting rid of rice isn't that easy. too bad though my brother tried and he ends up eating a lot of viands and drinking sodas.

Increasing viands is not that much of a problem except for the budget!
But taking more sodas can't be good.
Try reducing it slowly. Crash diets are only useful for immediate albeit temporary relief
It's not good to shock your system.
As long as you don;t eat too much rice, it shouldn't be a problem

I know how it is to try to lose weight. It sure isn't easy. I never have the time to eat right or get enough rest. We have to get a routine for exercise and eating and sleep for it to work out right.

it never was, i mean i tried for so many years and it never last a month or two nor half of it. i have my usual routine and i know it does work. some times it's not that easy to exercise when you have use some energy in doing house choirs or some work at home or other things

ry^^ people say that rice is healthy. anyway im happy that you are doing exercise. thats great for you to feel better^^ maybe you should do 30 minutes to 1 hour walking and that would help you to lose weight. i used to walk for one hour more or less before with my friend and her mother and i lost a lottttttt of weight. i did that everyday less on saturday i think. do the same and soon you will feel so good. about food you can eat normally as long as you walk that hour
everyday and sure try to avoid soda. drink like one can per day and not more. and drink a lot of water. im sure that soon you will feel great

I am actually drinking it with small glass cups per day, but recently i've been drinking energy milk to avoid getting too weak in the end. well, i've done it some times but compare to the treadmill, it's really hard to loose weight that way because it's rainy season and i only get wet and not sweat
. for now i've been avoid drinking a lot of sodas lately and it's been doing good to my digestive system. not to mention i stop drinking coffee too

What about brown rice? less calories good for dieting

I got no other choice lately because i got not much to do. and besides, some women still looks at me but my extra poounds is really something i should be getting rid off. i don't have access to organic rice, nor it is available in this area. it's been a week since i avoided junk foods and it's been great too

In your question how many rice you should eat?
well, for me it is depend on your body size. :D
If you often eat 3 cups of rice everyday then you want to loss weight. the following day should only take 2 cups until you reach the 1 cup of rice everyday. It is just an assumption. It only means you should not quickly adjust your daily in take of carbohydates which the rice has, so, your body will not be affected to much for quickly adjustment.
I advise, instead of regular rice which is the white one. replace it by Brown Rice or Red Rice. Good for those you wants to loss weight and maintain their body figures.
More Fiber!
More Protein!
Enough Vitamin C
then Less Carbohydrates and saturated fats!

My husband who is on an exercise diet only eats 2 cups of rice in a day, that is to be divided in 3 meals. He said that a hundred calorie intake will take one hour in a tread machine so in order to lessen his time with the machine he should lessen his calorie intake. He just complement his meal with lots of vegetables and fruits because he is used to always have full stomach after eating. I guess, you have to consult your doctor about the headache you are experiencing when you take less rice.

i think i might asked my mom to buy more vegetables and fruits this time. but i hate vegetables that are too sour i think. for me, i believe it was more of an adjustment period. just like that time where it takes too many hours before i eat my very first breakfast, i had to do exercise first.

I love rice too and I eat a lot of it, especially if I like the viand too.
But having head aches must be because of hunger, just don't eat too much rice, and yes you have to get enough sleep- 7-8 hours is the recommended time.

Who wouldn't love rice, it fills the stomach if the viand is so freaking teen. i am not sure though if i still get a lot of seven to eight hours because i usually sleep now around five to six. it's rare that i sleep around eight hours or seven. usually i get to sleep more after eight or seven hours

I was going to say the same as everyone else but figuratively speaking depending on what else you also eat with your rice. See if you only have rice 200 calories is not enough so let's say you have 2 cups that would equal 400. So it has to vary depending on the allotted calories per day and contents.
Do make sure you have no less then 3 meals per day. Since you are exercising breakfast is very important.

i usually eat more than 2 cups a day but having two cups alone? oh, my it's so terrible. i can't take less than 3 meals, nor i could only take two meals per day. but i do my best not to eat much any more and i think it's working some how. i love the idea of exericising and limiting my diet for a lot of reasons, like loosing my tummy. but thanks for the advice, i didn't think two cups alone would make 400

It should be noted that 1 cup of rice is roughly around 200 calories. That's plain white rice. Fried rice would be higher, depending on additional ingredients and type of oil used. Depending on your diet, you should be able to gauge how much you can eat in a day.
Stick to one cup per meal, if you must. Don't snack on rice meals, just eat them during the three main meals [breakfast, lunch, dinner] so that you can easily track the amount you're consuming.

that's pretty hard don't you think? i personally think that is something worth of a huge sacrifice considering that i get huge head ache if not eating the usual or medium consumation of rice. besides, the number of viands is just so little that i am like eating a freaking ration
