The President's Wrist Must Be Sore

I was at the twins' school this morning. They had the 4th and 5th grade award ceremonies, and a promotion ceremony for the 5th graders. Cary got a Silver Eagle award last quarter, so I was hoping he'd get one this quarter. He didn't but he did pull off 3 B's and 2 C's, and given his difficulties with language, I'm happy with that. Naomi got a Golden Eagle award (3.5+ GPA), so that was good. They showed a video slideshow with pictures from the schoolyear. I blubbered like a silly fool.
One thing they did for the 5th graders only is hand out Presidential awards, academics, citizenship and athletics. The academic and citizenship certificates were apparently signed by both the President and the Secretary of State. I'm thinking those two must have writers cramp.
But anyway my baby's off to middle school, and her twin brother is only a year behind...

Congratulations to your kids! Naomi's GPA is great! Those awards mean so much to the kids. And, yes, the parents as well. I blubber too. It's so touching. I have watched two and now a third go down the ranks. My grandson is doing well and really improved this school year. I say that with a sigh of relief!

I think so. With mood disorders and other behvioral things it can be a tough row to hoe.

Congratulations to the twins
\it is wonderful that Cary is doing so well. Re President. Don't they use an automatic thingy to write their signatures or did they really sign every single one of them?

I don't know about the signature, as I didn't actually get to see one...
I don't know, I get weepy a little bit at these things anyway, today was just more so.

Just had a thought. Did yo blubber over the children or because of what you have to tell them?

This reminds me of my second job! Where I had to sign off on reports at the end of the day. It became so repetitive that I didn't have to read the reports and just sign them. There would literally be hundreds of reports per day. My wrist got so sore that I said that was one of the reasons I quit that job.
Yey! School's out!

I had that for a while too, and therefore my signature ended up being a squiggle...

You must have felt so delighted at your children's award ceremonies. Cary did fantastically to get B, B, B, C and C in his exams. Naomi did wonderfully to get a Golden Eagle Award. The video of the school year showed you what they have been up to so that was lovely. The President and the Secretary of State must still have an aching wrist from all that signing of the certificates.
My disabled son will be starting primary school. My oldest son will be leaving school and going to a further education college. This summer I will be finding out his exam results. Like you did I am sure I will be blubbering on that important day. I love it when my older son's school have an award ceremony. He got a Humanities award and a 100% attendance certificate.

I remember those Presidential Awards from when my son graduated elementary school. This year he is graduating Middle School.. OMG next year he'll be a high schooler.. scary!! Dearra is too though, right? Or was she a high schooler this year?
Yeah I'm going to have lots of end of year celebrations this June (our kids get out on June 23). As mentioned, the oldest graduates middle school. #4 Graduates preschool.. heading into Kindergarten. The twins are also graduating and moving on to a new school.. but it's sort of wacky here. We've always had 2 elementary schools, the first WAS K-2 and the other 3-5 then middle school and high school. They changed it up last year (as the twins were entering 3rd grade) and made the first school K-3 and the other 4 and 5.. now I guess they are considering 4 and 5 part of middle school because that school is technically connected to the middle school.. and while they used to have 2 different principles, now they have 1. They used to start later than the middle school, now they start at the same time.. they used to ride the elementary bus which would go to one elementary then the other.. now the 4th and 5th graders ride with the middle schoolers and high schoolers. So this year the twins will be graduating from their elementary school and going into 4th grade.. and I'm not entirely sure if they're considered middle schoolers now or not.. I know technically they're not.. but our district is wacky.. so I don't know.
I still have 1 at home for awhile though. He's not eligable for preschool until the fall of 2012 because his 4th birthday isn't until January 2012.. so he won't start Kindergarten until 2013. I might see about the affordability of a nursery school or something this fall because he so desperately wants to go to school! He's ready.. they're just not ready for him, LOL.

I think those certificates are massed produced so there isn't really a hand behind the signature. I received one when I was in high school but it has gotten lost somewhere along my life's road. Congratulations to your kids. Those are good grades.

Oh, I'm sure they are. Can you imagine if he really signed every single one of them? They probably weren't even in the same room where he breathed the air!

I love going to the award ceremonies. It means so much to the kids to be recognized. Congrats on the awards. I bet that president does have a sore wrist. When I went to my daughter's, there were a ton of kids being recognized.
I have one graduating next year and one in the 8th grade
Time sure does fly.

Hmm writers cramp, I won't want us to spoil the kids but no, no writers cramp from them. lol
Wow Congrats to all your kids because I read the responses and comments and see how they are all progressing.
3.5 GPA is fantastic and well let's hope the twin picks up a bit, though it seems that with twins example he might just do so.
Ha! the blubbering days, I think all of us had had lots of these moments. Such a great feeling. Good job mom, and say that because you are on top of all their activities.!

He did have a 3.0 in March, but he got sloppy the end of the year. Still, 3 b's and 2 c's for a kid with autism is not bad.
