Two liters of fluid and two pints of blood later, I am ready to go home! It is amazing how being a little short of such things can make such a difference in life! The shortage of blood didn't show up until they gave me the first liter of fluid yesterday before doing another blood test. When I got the discharge paper today, I asked the nurse and she said that before I got that first liter of fluid my blood was concentrated so it didn't appear to be low. Altogether I got over 3 liters of fluid between the cancer center and the hospital in addition to the 2 pints of blood. I feel like a whole new person! Have a great weekend!!!

Dearest Debbie,
It is perfectly understable that you suffer from anxiety. Do take the pills they gave you for that Estoicism does not lead anywhere. I have been having some health problems, but they I so small compared to yours that I feel I don´t have any reason to be unhappy for them.
As the rest of the friends told you, keep up the liquid intake. I like green tea, no sugar for thirst. A small bag goes a long way if you do it yourself and then bottle it. Take care!

I have never cared for the tea that is available in America, but the green tea that I was able to get in China was ok. Most of the time if I don't drink water I will drink powerade/gatorade to replace the electrolytes I lose and I have trouble sometimes with straight water. Thanks for the suggestion!

I can buy tea that is not in bags here. It is a lot more expensive, but it´s worth it. Take care!!!

Though I have never suffered cancer personally I have had blood transfusions. When I had baby number two and four (the one I lost) I had some uncontrollably bleeding from medications. I needed three transfusions with number two and and four with the fourth. What amazes me the most is the rush of energy when you get them. I know it has something to do with the oxygen and what not but it is still amazing. I have had dehydration issues since though and I am never with out a water bottle. Good luck and hope the good feeling lasts you a long while.

I don't remember the rush of energy, but perhaps I was just so tired that I didn't notice it. I thought I was having dehydration issues again this week, but the doctor came in and it turns out that I have fluid buildup in my ears and sinuses that was causing some of the "head" issues. I do try to drink more since that incident but it still seems like I'm always thirsty. Sorry to hear about your fourth. Thanks for the comment!

Just remember to get your electrolytes too. Not having enough of them is counter productive and can make you sicker.
As for the sinus I think there are a lot of people suffering with allergies the last few years who never did before..and they're bad this year.

Personally even with all I am going thru right now with all the extra pain and such, it can be quite annoying to know that from one test to the other they can often get a lot of mixed results. But at least with yours they are able to catch everything without sending you home and then having something happen. Plus from what I have heard having to have Blood given after something like this is natural?

I think you are right about it being pretty natural to have to get blood. They check my blood levels every week after chemo and I guess that week, the counts were even lower than normal so they got it back into the normal range.

So glad to hear that you were feeling better after the fluids and the blood transfusion. My hubby had to go to the doctor's office between infusions last week because he was feeling pretty down. It turned out that he was severely dehydrated, but they simply sent him home and told him to make sure that he was taking in plenty of fluids. Since then he has been drinking a lot more and seems to be doing better. However, I'm afraid that he might end up dehydrated after the infusion this week because it has gotten so much warmer outside.

Alas I hear some great feelings out of the sad and long days you have had. I am glad the re-hydration has helped and you feel really great. Now rest enough though so that all kicks in the right way and you can resume in full gear.

I actually didn't leave my bed today, but it was mostly because I was trying to finish the final project for my class, which I did! I am still feeling a bit light-headed, but it is possible that it is just anxiety about the feeling that is causing the feeling and making it worse (just a guess). I hope that is all it is. Have a great week!!!

I am still feeling a little light-headed today, but I just now realized that it could be caused by anxiety. I talked to the on-call resident at the hospital and he said I sounded a bit anxious so maybe that is the only problem. I hope so. Have a great week!!!

I am glad getting rehydrated and more blood has helped you feel better. It is hard, I am sure to keep track of what you are drinking. I know that some of our beverage consumption is social, going for a cup of coffee or a coke, etc. We need to make you some virtual gatorade I am thinking.

That sounds good. The fruit punch flavor is the best in my opinion. Just make it powerade instead. Thanks for the comment!!!

Thanks! I was doing much better yesterday, but today I'm feeling light-headed again. I'm really hoping that even though I have been eating and drinking today that the problem is more the fluids than the blood. I called in today and talked to the on-call gyn/onc resident and expressed my fear. If I'm lucky, it is just anxiety rather than a blood problem. I haven't tried taking the one medication yet that might help with that so maybe I should. Have a great week!!!
