The black cat crossed infront of my car and now I wonder.....

how long does the bad luck last? I haven't had any bad luck. I know....such things may seem silly to some but, Hey, I am superstitious. I admit it. But this cat thing was a week or more ago and nothing. So, my question is this: What is the length that such a thing lasts? Is there an expiration date on spells, hexes, etc.?

I thought that it was when a black cat crosses your path the hex would be today? hehe.. Well, if I were you, I wouldn't think much of it and it'll just pass. I mean, there are a lot of black cats everywhere and if we try to watch out for them each time, that'll be a lot of time wasted. Anyhow, I believe that if you keep yourself busy you will be able to forget things that happened (minute things I mean), and if there shall be hexes that's the time you will remember that you did have a cat cross your path - but most of these are actually minute hexes as well. Something that would just make you grin, if you think about it. For now, I think it has lapsed, or perhaps there indeed was something bad that happened but you were too busy to notice or it was too small or unimportant to notice. Have a great MyLot experience!

That kind of stuff doesn't bother me. I wouldn't have a clue if it was real or not. I don't have a whole lot of luck, as it is. So I wouldn't be able to tell the difference. Best Wishes!

Please do not believe in superstitions, as they are figment of our imagination. Cats do not bring bad luck and if they they cross your path, the validity of ill luck or ill affect is for few minutes only.

I think the only expiration date I have heard of if the seven years bad luck for breaking a mirror..as far as the cat goes..maybe that is a one time occurance thing. My grandmother used to use her finger to mark an x in the air when a black cat would cross it..lol.it's funny that I'm not superstitous but I find myself doing the same thing when one crosses my path. It x's out the bad luck.

I have heard this marking a x thing from another responder and I think I am going to start doing that. It is funny how the superstitions start and get seeded into your subconciousness.

I have a black cat and she constantly is getting in my way, back and forth, back and forth. If there's an expiration date on bad luck, I wouldn't know because my cat keeps renewing it.

I think it is like a day or two.

Hmm... I am not superstitious. (And so I realize now, I can not really answer your questions...) But as you said, you are, and that's what matters here. =P The problem I see is, because you are superstitious, you are now willing to attribute anything bad that's going to happen to that black cat crossing... even if it happens so far from the time the cat crossing happened. And even if nothing has happened yet, you still expect it to happen at any turn it seems. I think it has a good effect though. Maybe since you are expecting it, you are more careful that you normally are. And maybe that's the reason why nothing bad has happened yet... because you are being very very very careful.

Oh, I think just the opposite is true. I would be more careful/

I think if it is more than a week ago you are safe. It would be too far off to attribute bad luck now. Personally I always think of black cats as being special and lucky. My black cat crosses my path many times during the day.

Well, maybe I should try to change my way of thinking then and see black cats as lucky and not unlucky.

I don't know. I am too but every time one crosses my path I break the spell by placing a cross in a circle in front of me. Like in the air, on the windshield of my car, etc. I don't know that it would help now, but I'd do it anyway. Just think of the cat and get him/her in your mind as you can she it and then make the cross and circle. I hope this helps.

Oh and your black cat may of had some white on it somewhere and there may be nothing for you to worry about since it has been this long. That's what I would think.

That's all you can do. I'd not worry about it. Many cats to have white on them in places you can not see unless you have them up close and are playing with them.

I did the circle and cross and thought of the cat. And It was pretty black but may have had some white underneath. Too long now anyway I'm thinking. Thanks.

Superstitions are simply creations of the mind and a fertile imagination. If you are weak-willed then everything will haunt and affect you but if you have a strong will then nothing can affect you, even a black cat.Always think positively and don`t let negative thoughts intrude into your mind. There is nothing like a time limit or expiration date for such things, just shut them out of your mind and think of something pleasant and your good thoughts will become an armour and protect you from everything.

You will be fine. No cats are bad luck. Cats are cats. Lovable, cuddly, cute, but bad luck? No. As you said, you haven't had any bad luck and it's been a week. If something really did cause bad luck, it would seem to me that it would take effect immediately. I have been around plenty of black cats, and many other cats too, and never had bad luck.

For me in Jehovah God eyes it is no connection to the time you encounter now.

expiration date? yeah...that also got me thinking since I'm also a superstitious person...I think a week is the max though for a black cat crossing your path, while some might last for as long as a moth like breaking a mirror...

Breaking a mirror is seven years bad luck!
