No More Worries About Not Getting The Window Seat

Airbus just unveiled their latest concept of flying with the newly designed "Transparent" plane which literally has a see through cabin.
I believe it will be a great experience where I envisage an IMAX cinema experience for the entire flight. However, I would have my reservations for those who have Acrophobia and/or fear of flying.
Other impressive enhancements in the cabin concept, includes the 'vitalizing zone' helps passengers relax, with vitamin and antioxidant-enriched air, mood lighting, aromatherapy and acupressure treatments.
And, in the 'interactive zone' there will be virtual pop-up projections taking passengers to whichever social scene they want to be in, from holographic gaming to virtual changing rooms for active shoppers.
Just can't wait for the launch.

WOW.. I had not seen this. This is truly awesome
. I would love to travel in this. Seems a long way off.. 2050
Come to think of it. Shouldn’t we be even more advanced in 40 years considering how many technoligies we acquired in the last 40 years???

stary1,
Honestly, I wouldn't be surprise that by then there will be tours to the Moon and that these flights will be going supersonic.
So, there's really no telling by then what will happen and what we are going to have on the travel scene. But, I suppose this idea would really save the commercial airlines a load of headache operationally when passengers are having more preferences for the window seats.
Have a nice day.

I agree with you skysucess, and I wouldn't mind a tour of the moon.
LOL you are correct about most want the window seat, but I have heard some prefer the aisle. My Mom liked the aisle because she felt safer if she couldn't she out the window. Others like the aisle because they want to get to the bathrooms sooner. I prefer the window seat. I would love this type of technology

I really like this idea because the views must be great. However, I also think out its disadvantage. Such as some people may be afraid of having the suntan. The airplane is in the high sky and if the plane is transparent, I wonder whether the sun rays will be so strong. And some people may just want to have a break in the plane. They may have difficulties to fall asleep if the plane is transparent. And if there is a storm or lightning, some people may be so scared since they can see it in real.
I love China

youless,
I am sure that the shades can be controlled by both the cockpit or passengers. Also, the panes will be something like our transition lenses which can moderate and tone the sunlight.
However, I can assure you that flying at night will be a totally new experience considering sleeping so much closer to the stars and moon. As for the storms, I believe it will be an exhilarating experience considering what a breakthrough it will be for us to experience it live.
Anyway, it will really be sometime before this aircraft is launched but I would not be surprise that by then China will be the first country to order these for their airlines.

Quite honestly, I don't think I would like that. Most of the flights I have been on have been across the Pacific (going from USA to China) and they make you close the windows most of the time so the cabin can be made dark. I guess if the window shades were open, the sun never sets at that altitude. I think it would be ok on daytime flights so that you could see what was going on, but if it was sleeping time, do they have any way to make it dark if it isn't dark outside? I wouldn't mind the other features you talked about like the vitalizing zone and the interactive zone, but would the seats be crowded together like on most planes or would it be more like first class where there is a little more room to move?

daeckardt,
I do agree with you that it would affect passengers on the West to East flight routes but I am sure the shades can be controlled from the cockpit with the added technologies liken to our transition lens which would block out the excess UV rays from the daylight and yet be as crystal bright in dim light or night time.
I like this idea especially when the flight is a red eye where we will actually have the direct effect of sleeping under the stars. On the other aspect, I feel that the flight would be much more eco-friendly being that less electrical energy is required with a potential aspect of generating its own electrical energy by making use of the available sunlight to generate solar energy.
I like the other ideas but I believe the airlines will eventually be looking at converting those spaces for either passenger seats or cargo space for commercial sake.

Sounds great! Just so long as the TSA keeps their paws to themselves. Until they stop, I can't fly again.
If they ever do, though, I'd LOVE to take a spin in it! Wow!

Maggiepie,
Sounds like you haven't gotten over your bad experience with the airport security but just don't let it get into you and deprive you of the joys of traveling.
I am sure the experience with this aircraft will be a great one especially if you are a window seat fan.
Have a nice day.

I highly doubt that this would catch up in the mainstream.
A lot of people have fear of flying and height. Put them together in one package then it could be a disaster.
However, for daredevil, I think people would pay for this type of luxury.
It just depends on what market you are rooting for really.

I like the whole entertainment side of things.... But... transparant??? EEEEK! You wouldn't get me on that. I consider myself to have a healthy fear of heights and I'd end up having a panic attack on a plane like this!

icantthinkofaname,
I think the floors of the aircraft will not be transparent although I really love the idea of it. For one, the cargo deck is below and I doubt if any airline would like to reveal what or how they are carrying their cargoes.
So, I don't think there will be a problem about height than the fear of flying which more of another form of psychological barrier. Anyway, it will be interesting to watch the actual launch of such an aircraft in time to come.
