Tomorrow morning I will have a body check. I wonder whether I shall have the breakfast before it. However, I heard that it is not good since I will have a blood test. It seems that I shall have the breakfast at least after the blood test. What do you think?

Hello there, You should have consulted your doctor about that. Here, before we have a full body check, the doctor tells us not to even drink a glass of water . So yeah we go to the hospital with an empty stomach. Good luck for the check up

I don't think you're supposed to eat before a blood test. Your doctor should've said something about it. I wouldn't eat breakfast before, I'd wait until after. Maybe bring a snack that you can eat when you're done.

youless, First of all, I think you will need to know what test or check you are going for and your doctor would tell you if you are to avoid any meals before the test. I am just surprised that you are asking us here. Usually, if the test does not involve scoping for your gastrointestinal then, there would be no need for you to abstain from food and/or water. Even if it is some blood test. So, how was your test? I hope that all's well with you.

If you are going to have a blood test or anything like that they usually ask you not to eat. I would call and ask them for sure. I get very fatigued if I don't have something to eat before I venture out for the day. If nothing else call the hospital and ask a nurse. I would want to know for sure or you could waste your time taking the test.

I am having my blood test done once every year. From my doctor's advised, it is better to have breakfast only after you had done your blood test. If you are having a full blood test including checking your blood sugar level, then it is advised not to take any food. You are only allowed to drink plain water. Besides that, you will need to fast for more than 10 hours prior to the blood test, to have an accurate blood test result.

Follow my doctor said, we are allowed to drink plain water, as it won't affect our blood test. Hope your blood test result will be fine....

If you will attend a check up concerning your body. You have to perform fasting. You must not eat anything starting from 7PM at night until the next day. If you will eat between that time. The result will be inaccurate. Take your breakfast after the check up.

When I go to the doctors for a complete physical, I am given instructions NOT to eat or drink anything for 12 hours prior to the exam. I don't know how your dr. feels about this, or why my dr. requests this, but it would be better to ask your dr. yourself, to see what s/he wants you to do.

Hi youless, it's nice to have body check regularly for taking well care of our body health. It will be more accurate and effective if fasting at least 10 hours before doing the blood and urine test. I know this for I'm always told to do so the time I have made an appointment to have blood test the next morning in one of the local diagnostic center here. Therefore I hope you do the same fasting for at least 10 hours before the body check as well for the purpose of accuracy I had my body health check as well as blood test on the 16th of May. The I received the result on the following day. After receiving the result we visited the consultant doctor there to get some advise what we should do to improve health according to the health check report Happy posting

It depends on what type of blood tests will be carried out. When your blood sugar is to be tested, it is best that you do not eat up to 10 hours prior to the drawing of blood. That is why most clinics, laboratories or hospitals only accept samples before 8 or 9 in the morning. Other blood tests will not require the patient to fast. But to be sure, do ask your doctor what type of tests will be done and whether or not he/she will allow you to take food or drink prior to the tests.

You should not take any meal for at least 6 hours before the body check up. Normally the doctor will ask you to fast several hours before the body checkup. And if you are going to have a blood test, that is what you must do. Because, if you take any meal before the blood test, it will affect some of the test result such as your glucose level will be higher and if you take coffee before the checkup, your blood pressure will be higher than normal. That is why you should fast before going for a body checkup.

It really depends on what testing. There are many which will not be affected if you eat but then there are some blood tests that you cannot eat X amount of time prior to the testing. I suppose the best and safest way to approach it would be not to eat prior to the test. See this way if it didn't matter it won't affect it. But if it matters then you would not have eaten and all is fine. Good luck with the exam and blood testing, and hope all is alright.
