This year, I decided I would do something new or interesting each month. My list this far: January - I worked a nightshift (as an extra shift because they were short-staffed) February - Drove over 500miles (round trip) for a family funeral March - took myself away for 5 days, walked, drove onto the beach, flew a kite, built sandcastles, April - indoor skydiving May - Went to a Monkees concert June - Rode a Segway Next month I'm doing the Race for Life (2nd year) & later in the year, I have a "Falconry Experience" booked. I have 3 or 4 other things I aim to do before the year is out. What have you done that you would recommend, the more unusual the better

Hiya Wizzygal, In my Photos on my profile I have put the photo that I was going to put into a response that has taken more time than I would care to admit to put it there. No matter it´s there it´s a terrible photo really as I could not get a fixed view of it as you can imagine as we were going past in the Car and he could not slow down either. I was suggesting it as an activity perhaps I am calling it the wrong thing altogether as well as I always use Spanish you see. Is it hang gliding what he is doing in the Photo. When I saw him doing that I thought of you and you wanting to do something else different so I really tried so hard to take this Photo I craned my neck like a Giraffe trying to get a good shot of him but there were really strong Cross Winds too but he looked so fantastic up there and the scenery is fantastic too. I like all your other activities that you have been doing. Sandcastles and kites lucky thing I long to get my bucket and spade out again (grin). Nice to see you around wizzygal luvya.xxx

Hiya! Yes, that's something I wouldn't mind having a go at. When I've gone back & reminded myself of how to get photos on here, I'll put the skydiving/segway ones on. I've just ordered myself a 'spacehopper' so home to go bouncing off round the park or on a beach as soon as I can get the chance to drive to the coast

Looks alright to me. I remember taking a photo of my brother when we were on holiday once. When we got the prints we had to look really hard to find him as he was standing under a leafy tree in the middle of a meadow...wearing green cords & a green anorak =) I couldn't have coped with those shoes... I cant even wear heels these days. That fridge in the car... probably great for keeping frozen pees in!!

Hiya Wizzywiggal, Those shoes were really funny and it showed a bit on the Television once about People that actually did get to wear them sort of like wearing two pogo sticks on your heels. I am still seeing the picure in my head of that silly looking fridge that looks more like a Toilet than a Fridge. Yes great for keeping frozen peas in and that´s about it too. I can´t wear high heels for long at least for walking long walks they make my ankles ache as the shoe does not ben with the foot itself. They are much like those wooden Scholls I used to have but I gave them away to a Friend she loved them. I am thinking about your Brother and how you would have found him amongst all the Green that is very funny Wiz.

Wow Wizzy! That is an awesome idea to put some spark into your life! I would like to ride a Segway, they look like a lot of fun! The Monkees! Are they still going? I heard of a guy on the radio early this year or it might have been last year who did something mind blowingly out of the ordinary every day for a month. He got media attention and did it for some sort of charity too I think. I cannot remember the details now, but what he did was incredible. I think that I might make this a goal for next year. To do something wild every month. You have inspired me Wizzy! What else have you done in the last few months since this discussion started? The only really exciting thing for me this year (other than moving house) is that I finally got myself a motorbike again after being without one for over ten years. I have been enjoying that!

... I did the Race for Life in July (I did it last year but cut 6mins of my time this year) & got called for Jury Service. August... I took my mum to see the pre-release screening of Mr Poppers Penguins (on free tickets); We went on the Anderton Boat Lift & I did the falconry thing... owls, falcons, kestrels etc. After last years Ferrari experience, I thought it would be fun to try a free 1hour motorcycle session but that didnt go quite according to plan. I am not very tall so my legs were not long enough to balance the bike they put me on. I didnt get far before it toppled leaving me in an undignified heap. I said I was "fine" & got back on but I really couldnt control the thing & by the time I got home I had the biggest, ugliest bruise which lasted for months =( I'm thinking maybe a motor-trike would be a better idea. Moving house would be a major triumph for me... I have been going for the last 4 years but the decluttering & practical aspects are taking longer than planned.

I have to confess that I dont actually do 'running'... however the event is just to cover the 5k walking, jogging, running, crawling.... Both years, I have entered as an individual - not part of a team - & people have been kind enough to sponsor me. Next year, I want to do something a bit different for either Cancer Research UK or Marie Curie nurses. Maybe I should have a go at quad biking.... I've lived in this house for 24years now & when I do get round to moving I want to downsize by about half so... more stuff has to go or I'll be sleeping standing up in a broom cupboard!

Well done on your race! I had no idea what it was about so just did a MyLot search (and earned 10 cents for doing so) for it. Did you manage to run the whole distance? And did you dress up for it? It does look like a bit of fun! I took the family to see Mr Poppers Penguins a month or so ago and we loved it. That does sound like it was maybe not so fun doing the motorbike thing though! Perhaps the 4 wheeled ATV's or a trike would be better for you. Moving house after ten years in the one place was a major headache. Not only did we have loads more stuff than we thought we had, but also running a business from home was like moving two houses in one!

Sadly I have not done much out of the ordinary. I walked up to Clingman's Dome which is a really long uphill climb, but when you get to the top you are actually in the clouds, that was pretty cool. That is in Tennessee. I have not really done anything really extreme in my life, I have never bungee jumped, rode in a helicopter, skied on land or water, and I have never even ridden on a Segway. I have ridden a horse a few times though. Probably the most exciting thing I have done is ride on roller coasters or body surfed in the ocean.

Well, the stuff you have done sounds quite interesting. I haven't done any of them (except maybe some very gentle roller coasters several years ago) I do like the sound of Clingmans Dome but I'm a long way from Tennessee

What about tree planting? Mother Earth needs renewal of its forest. The threat of global warming is imminent, participating in such activities lets you contribute in the efforts to save planet Earth.

That is indeed a good thing to do. I am fortunate that I live in an area close to woodland. It saddens me to see the trees chopped down because of disease or for safety reasons & its good to see areas being reforested.

I always challenged myself on doing something that others are afraid to do. I once went to a haunted place here in our town just to prove that there is/no ghost. My heart was pumping so hard but the excitement was extreme. Adrenaline rush is kind of addictive and I don't want to get hooked..hehe.

Ahhh, that is something I have considered... ghost hunting. My son has paid for us both to do one of those aeriel extreme ropes courses... neither of us like heights & I have visions of it being more of a 'fear extreme'. I think we'll both be trying to keep going for each other ( or not)

I do not think of the things I do as unusual. In the last year, however, I have provided event staffing at a venue, as part of a security team. Mostly kept people going where they were supposed to and not going where they were not supposed to. I have done census in a town 200 miles from me. I also began training to do security transportation. TSA has nothing on me, I can do a pat down and I can put you in hand cuffs. However that job fell through. Those are things that come to mind right now. In the last few years hubby and I have found out about chestnuts and attended a chestnut festival learning new recipes. We also went when the new crop was ready and bought chestnuts at a chestnut farm. Saw what they looked like on the tree and how the owner grew and harvested them.

I haven't had chestnuts in ages. We always used to have bags of them to roast at Christmas, tho I prefer them uncooked. We used to eat them during breaks at school too.... I may have to get some just for the nostalgia - I think I liked peeling them as much as eating them
