my mylot reputation

Well, I am getting close to getting my mylot reputation. I think that I am at about 80 as I write this. I am getting both excited and nervous as I write this. I am going to feel bad but also embarrassed if I get a low number for my reputation. What can I expect? Will I get a notification from mylot that my reputation is such and such. Will I be given any details? Will a star show up with a number in it besides my profile picture? How did other mylotters feel as they were approaching this mylot milestone? And how do you feel about your number. What about those persons who got a low number? Did you feel bad? embarassed? angry? hurt?

I can't remember what I felt when I received mine as it such a long time ago. When you reach yours it will just appear like magic with no notification from myLot. As a new user it might change frequently, going up and down before it settles. Don't think about it too much and concentrate on having fun, then it will take care of itself As the user above said, some Lotters just forget to rate so don't be dispapointed if it is low when it appears. Your friends, and others, will help put it where it should be if that should happen

My star just appeared and I got an 8. I am really happy with my 8. I was not expecting it to be so high. And it came just as you said, like magic. I was responding to a discussion. I was not even thinking about my star. I posted my discussion and just like magic, there was a yellow star with an 8. I am very happy.

hi bostonphil just keep making quality posts and do not get caught up in the idea you must make a hundred as they will likely be unpaid as you will run out of steam and not make good posts. fewer and better gets people to rating you a plus and the more pluses you get the higher your number and star will be. also you should rate us too so we all can get our stars moving up.no mylot does not send out notifications about our rating when you get a star your rating numb er will move u p each time you get a plus rating from us so just do your best and remind all your mylot friends to rate all of us as its u s the mylotters that do the rating. so we must do it or nobody will ever move their stars up.

Actually, I am a she, not a he. And thanks for the good feedback. I will remember it and use it. I have heard similar things from other mylotters. Participate, quality and have fun. Those seem to be key words.

You are right Hatley, He should focus more on making quality posts. I’m glad I can copy and paste now because I write all of my posts in Microsoft word now and then paste them in the space. I don’t worry about how many posts I do in a day, I just stay active and try to make quality posts.

I was a member of MyLot before they had the reputation stars, so I did not have the anxiety that you have. It was a ten to start, but went down to a nine for almost two years, and that bothered me. As far as I know the star just appears shortly after your 100 post.

When I check my earnings stats I find that the first day I earned anything on MyLot was November 14, 2006. The star is only visible in certain views. I cannot see stars right now either.

It is always nice to hear from you GardenGerty. I do not see your star and number. Can you choose to display it or hide it? How long have you been with mylot? You have a high number beside your name. How old is mylot? I am glad that you are one of my friends.

I see your star now and it is a 10. And I can tell you that you are definitely a 10 in my book. You're very kind.

I was the same as you ... when I first got close to getting my star I did not know what to expect. I think that I was a little nervous that it would be low, because nobody really likes to feel that others do not think that they are contributing quality to whatever they are doing. I did try my best to contribute to the discussions, and as I had no control over how others rated me I decided not to worry about it. You are off to a good start here, I see. Congratulations on your high reputation. The best advice that I can give you here is something that another person already said ... just enjoy what you are doing and contribute the best that you can, and you should be just fine.

I don't really have other sites that I am working on the Internet. I am starting to dabble a little, but I wouldn't say that they are anything more than "experimenting" right now to see whether or not I like them. It took me a long time to give in and come on here, so I don't give in easily, although I am glad that I finally decided to try it here, because I really do enjoy it. However, I can still relate to putting other things off to be here interacting. There are times that I put off housework to be on here. I mean, I don't really like doing the housework anyway, but it really does need to be done and I feel better once it is done and over with, so this is not just an excuse to avoid doing it ... I just get caught up in what I am doing on here and don't want to leave ... plus time passes so fast that I think I have only been on here for a couple of minutes and it has actually been a couple of hours.

I like and enjoy mylot more with every day. In fact, I am doing more on mylot and neglecting some of my older sites. Mylot is among my favorites. It is the new kid on the block. I have to sometimes remind myself to get off of mylot and get to work on some of my other sites. I was very pleased to get my star and number. It picked up my spirits. I thank all my mylot friends for their support, love and kindness. Keep mylotting!!!!

Hello bostonphil, When i was new i also was hurt/embarrassed when i first got my reputation you it was 5 then slipped to 4 it varied a lot but once i got my first reputation i thought in my mind now i have to focus on my comments there is no need to post quantity you should post quality responses to earn as well as for your reputation. For you as soon as you complete 100 your reputation will appear against your name you won't get any notification. By getting your reputation only you will get to know if you are doing good or not what other MYLOTTERS think about you.

Thank you for sharing this information with me. I will feel hurt but also embarrassed if I get a very low number. But if it happens, I will keep what you have told me in mind. What is your rating now? I do not see a star beside your name with a number? Can you hide your star if you don't like the rating and do not want other mylotters to see it? How did you deal with your low rating?

Now, I see that you have an eight. I did not see your star when I was commenting. Once I post, your star appears.

Hi Bostonphil, Don’t worry. Your mylot reputation may take a day or two to stabilize. You might start out as an 8 or 9 and then move up, or you could start out lower and work your way up. Your ratings don’t stick until after you get your 100 post count, I’ve been told. Once you reach 100 you will get your star. When I got my star I had a red 9 and in the next day I had a blue 10. Just be attentive to the people you respond to, and rate them… ] Some folks don’t bother to rate, but not rating I think may cause people’s stars to go down. I’m not sure, but I think it has to do with some kind of ratio between your posts and the number of people who rated you. You would have to read the guidelines for sure to know for sure, but that is how I understand it.

Well, I am going to find out soon enough. I am not worried about being an 8 or 9. Even a 7 is ok. Has anyone ever been a 1? I would hate to be a mylotter who got the lowest rating of in mylot's history. It seems like you did well right from the get go.

That's interesting. And that is a good way to look at it. Maybe persons with low numbers get involved in controversial discussions. Or as someone else suggester have a sense of humor that does not sit well with others.

I'm not sure bit I think I saw a 1 yesterday. I saw a 3 this morning. I'm not sure why their numbers are so low. Maybe they like controversial discussions. I try to stay away from the wars on the lot.

Hi bostonphil, I'm sort of amazed by my own reputation. My reputation never seems to change. I have had the same amount for almost 2 years now. I had an extremely low reputation for awhile. Apparently people at MyLot didn't like my brand of humor. I also had a stalker that would rate all my comments low.

Wow, this is really interesting information. How did you know that you had a stalker? Did you ever find out who that person was? Did you report the person and is he /she still on mylot? Why did that person stalk you? There are a lot of scary and creepy people online but those same people are also out there among us. I am my own person and I often say things that the majority do not agree with. I always think for myself. That can get me in trouble. And has gotten me in trouble. Mylot says that they have controls in place to prevent what happened to you but those controls did not work for you.

When I was new here my first thing want to reach is having a reputation or rating number for me till then I found when I reach 100 points or numbers I have a chance to rate others which sometimes they rate me to.. From then I never rate others in negative rate all are positive which in return mylotter rate me also in positively. But as my observation if your discussion or comments have been deleted by admin it will affect your rating, please note about that...
