Grandma's turn to play-

I remember when I was a teenager and enjoyed it when my mom left the house because then I could turn my music up loud, eat the last oreo, and do as I pleased without my mom breathing down my neck. Well, here it is Friday night and the kids have gone for the week-end. They have said their goodbyes and I am listening for them to leave. Then I can turn the tv up and sprawl out on the bed. Do you do things when the rest of the family isn't home that you don't do when they are there? Are you glad to have some time totally to yourself without the rest of the family around? Do you like having the house to yourself for a while?

hi celticeagle. yeah, i do love to have the house all for myself as well. i can do as i please. i can listen to some cds, watch movies that i won't watch when my daughter is at home , or i can simply kick back, read a book or doze off and catch up on some much needed sleep . lol! anyway, having time for myself is really a luxury i don't experience as much as i want to. i have no regrets though as i value and enjoy the time that i spend with my lovely daughter. anyway, now that i've thought about it, my only personal time is the one i spend commuting to and from work. seriously. anyway, i'll gladly trade away all my personal time for the time with my daughter.

It sounds like your daughter is very important to you. I have raised one already and a grandchild and am helping my daughter with still another child. SO I feel I have done my part and when they want to leave for a week end I don't a problem with it at all.

Well it is just my husband and I, and our Pomeranian if you count him, but I have been known to watch YouTube listening to music a little more when I know he is not here like at work, etc. But for the most part my routine is about the same as it is just the 2 of us, unless we have found a renter for the extra room in our house.

I live alone so I always have my house to myself, unless I am babysitting my grandkids or they are staying over.

If his wife went to her mother's home, then that is a festival to a husband. He can drink and can make a party with his friends. If our family members are not there, going somewhere, we are alone, then we do some enjoy up to one or two day. after one or two days, we can feel their absence...

hi celticeagle, we only have an apartment and theres only hubby and me but when he is away I also do enjoy the break like now as he is going for groceries using the car, and I can mylot and be online without being disturbed. Taking an additional nap would also be a great idea for sure.

It is nice to have the house to myself sometimes. I can't think of the last time that I had that though. My b/f is here constantly..lol. I have recently become addicted to a crazy video game and if no one else was here, I would play it until I got my fill...LOL. I would also Mylot all night It's been so long since I have had any alone time...I might just walk around in circles not knowing what to do.

I know the feeling. Then when they are back I wish I had done some things. It is nice though.

I also like to spent the time all alone at the home and do my stuff. I like to turn on the TV and play my best shows or movies. I also do a lot of surfing while I am alone. I do not like it when I am alone but once I am alone i forget the world and somehow I get engaged in my own stuff.

I'm a big reader, I love to read books mostly by John Grisham but a lot of different books as well. My husband on the other hand does not. He hates reading so we mostly watch TV when he's home. There are sometimes though when I get tired of watching TV & would much rather read a book. I can't always do this when he's home, so yes there are times when I long for some alone time just so I can read my book for a bit. Then of course when he's not home I miss him & wish he were home so I guess I can't really decide what I want now can I? ... LOL

I think alittle time to yourself is healthy. Nothing wrong with distance making the heart grow fonder. But enjoying that distance at times.

There were times when i just want to be alone and spend some time for myself at home. And when I'm with my "private time" i am spending it watching television or cleaning my closet. I am also taking advantage of that time to rest alone - there is serenity in resting alone in your room :)
