Thoughts on agnostics.

I'm an agnostic but appreciate and respect religions to a certain extent. I've heard a few people who find a lot of strength and security through their religions. So, I was wondering if religious people think of me as "missing out" in those areas of life. How do people view agnostics? Are we pitied?

Religion is a very passionate subject..no one should be "pitied" for their beliefs nor should they be thought less of for them. I think that there is a place for everyone whether it be the religously devoted or people who don't believe at all. There is a level of comfort that each one gets from their spiritality or the lack of. Finding where you belong..well..that is the hard part..lol. I still don't know if I belong in one place or another sometimes.

I am also an agnostic and, to be honest, I don't fully appreciate or respect religions. Hypocrits don't impress me. Nor do born again fanatics. I think some religious people might pity us as I pity them. I think alot of religious people are weak and this phrase alot of them use "let God handle it" erks me to no end. Don't find any strength within your self and do whatever needs to be themselves. No don't do that! Give it to God! If there is one I think he has enough to do. Help him instead of putting it all off on him. I would be embarrased to be like that.

Hahah, I know those people who say that too. I agree that they should help him if they say that.

Pity? Definitely not. I feel respect for you for taking the only intellectually honest position that is possible. There is no one who can provide definitive proof as to whether the gods exist or don't exist so if you are honest with yourself you have to say that you just don't know.

I don't pity you. Everyone has different paths . If your path suits you , why should you be pitied?

Agnostics are those who are doubtful about the existence of God.

I am not religious at all. I can not get into this fantasy world. I was grown up a catholic and went to catholic school, let me tell you, it wasn't pretty. I cannot respect anyone who beats you or verbally abuses you. And there were plenty of nuns that did that. I saw them a evil people, people who hated life. I believe all religions are cults. They are no different then organized crime. It's all about the money. I live my life day by day until it ends.

Personally I'm a catholic, and one of the things I have as a person is that, believing what I've been thought and following my values, I can and will respect you no matter what you stand for as long as it doesn't affect me or my loved ones. Following any religion or not, to me is the same as to what nationality are you from, what's your race, what sports team you root for, etc., to me it doesn't matter, you're a human being with the same rights I have.

People who are agnostic do not rely on beliefs. I think this is a very good thing. Like most people, they want the proof and truth to come to them. How many actually search out to discover the real truth? It's much easier for people just to accept beliefs. Agnostics are at least one step ahead in that department.
