Everyday after taking bath - I apply pure coconut oil on the head which keeps my hair smooth and neat. This keeps the head cool and also healthy.... I have seen many people who do not apply - oil .May be that is their choice. How about you... and what do you feel....??

i tried putting oil on my hair way back hoping it would help with my HIV [hair is vanishing!], but unfortunately it only made my scalp shinier, lol! seriously, oil application is good and healthy for those with full hair in their head.

Sure, I do. Without oil (sometimes I miss to, due to some unavoidable situations), I've seen that my hair becomes dry soon. And in the next morning when I comb my hair, I see a considerable hair fall. Besides, postponing the hair becoming grey soon, also it keeps my head cool.

It will look greasy if we applied it in more quantity.. But surely it makes hair healthy.

Yes I do apply oil on my hair but i do it before I take a bath. Maybe an hour earlier but i don't really put oil after taking a bath. I don't feel really good when there's oil in my hair to be honest. It feels sticky and not comfortable.

OK thatgirl13, what I studied of this function is it varies from person to person and also some apply before and aftger bath...I do not undestand the difference. Once applied before bath and taking bath will the oil not be washed during the bath..I just wonder and in what way it is useful...???

OK - even me too, I do the same because if I do not apply the oil in the wet condition, then I feel as if I have done something wrong and becuse of some reason it gets dried up - no other go I apply little water and appply OIL.

I do that because after every bath, my hair feels really dry. But if I put oil before bath and take a bath, then my hair feels much better and shinier

Oiling the hair is not the custom in every culture. For instance at this time in the United States we do not oil our hair. On the other hand many people use other beauty products, like gels and sprays, etc. (probably not as good as your oil, really) I do have an oil that is readily absorbed that I will put on my hair if it feels too dry and brittle, but I do not put on enough that anyone can actually see it.

Nice to go through your message...yes,I agree that it is not followed everywhere..and every individual has a different habit. OK -I have understood that and happy to note that you apply oil which is of special quality which makes you feel dry even after using that...

Hi Busybee.Everyone has hair of different texture. Those with oily hair need not leave oil in their hair for long.I have dry hair but recently I have switched over to hair creams like vatika which is non greasy but nourishes hair.Greasy oil might block the pores of the scalp.Bit I do oil my hair once in a week sometimes with virgin coconut oil and sometimes with black oil.Oiling helps in massaging the scalp. After oiling i steam with a hot water towel.Recently bought a steamer for the same purpose.

I do apply a small amount of oil in my hair after taking a bath. I was used to doing so and i can easy manage to comb and keep my hair. If i dont put a small amount of oil in my hair,it looks like i am always in a mess. I apply it while my hair is still wet. Have a great weekend

Yes friend jaiho2009 , even too I too do the same explained by you... and this keeps me that something is fulfilled. Otherwise once the hair gets dried then I wet it and then apply this is what I do.

Hello busybee, I too appy coconut or almond oil on my head after taking bath. Its habitual for me as from the childhood i am doing it. We have been told by our elders that oil keeps hair soft, dense, black. Its always better to use it.Whwnever i don't apply it,it seems as if i have missed out something & my hair don't look good.

You are correct and the same thing happens to me too. If I dont apply I feel I have lost something...hence to avoid this I prefer to apply theoil immediaely after bath.

Well, I'm also using oil for my hair. It keeps my hair neat and shiny. Especially for me I have a long hair so I need to make it neat and not messy. Oil makes it better. There's nothing wrong with oil except, some dust is stinking on my hair and it's sometimes obvious.

Hi Today i market there are many varieties of oils available for hair. previously people used to use only pure coconut oil. But now many ayurvedic oils are available with a promise that hair grows tall and strong ans everything else. i used some ayurvedic oil but it didnt work for me. I dont why any oil is suiting my hair .if i stop applying oil i get headache. So only one thing i found from my experience that is oils dont stop hair fall nor help in growing hair .The oil only keeps our scalp/head cool.

I also thought about it. I also apply coconut oil every day morning after taking bath and then comb my hair. (not much --only very little). This is based on the practice taught to me by my parents..--i am 61+. Present day children/adults they do not apply. I was thinking of an advantage in our applying coconut oil --it acts as a massage for the nerves in the head and helps in blood circulation. Youngsters are losing that.
