hi celticeagle first of all sorry for the late answer from here but I think we are only people and no saints. As long as we live on this earth we will not really be selfless but we can try and do our best to show our love to these we care for so they feel how much they mean to us.
I am just in the situation of having lost someone whom I loved deeply, a friend who was like a mom to me. I wish I could have done more to help her out in times of need but circumstances prevented that. Sometimes we cant express the love we feel for someone cause we are forced to make decisions which collide with expressing said love.

Sometimes we can't express the love we feel because we are trying too hard or make excuses like making decisions instead. We can show our love in many selfless way. It needs to come from the heart not the brain.

By right, love should have no boundaries. We can loves our loves ones without limitation. But sometimes due to certain circumstances, we have to choose which one to love the most. Like in my ex-colleague's case, she need to choose either to love her brother well or her fiance. It is the hardest decision to make, that i ever heard so far. I just hope my ex-colleague able to make the wisest decision, out from the option that she has in her hands.

ive had relationships and husbands that i didnt seem to be that way with. but as a mother, when you are a good mother, as you and I, we do love without boundaries or restraint. also i think people love their mothers most times with no restraint. most people. unless that was what you was talking about? hugs, bon

I think deep down kids love their mothers but in everyday life there is some real disrespect going on. Thanks.

Call me cynical, but true selfless love is the stuff of the fiction. I think we can love, and we can really have an appreciative love of those close to us. But to completely love others without one element of selfishness in it? That is something only a perfect being can pull off - and humans are far from perfect. Any human who says they can live with a 100% selflessness is a liar. We love our family because they offer stability and support that strangers will never provide. Family usually cares about us when others don't give a crud about us. We love family not just because they are our family. Family offers essential benefits to us and that we can really appreciate. We love them because we need them, not because we are selfless angels.

I am with you! I think even a die hard romantic like myself must say that selfless is a bit rediculous. We are far from perfect and we do need some stuff for us.

Love is universal. Love has no boundaries. We can do anything, everything to our loved ones, one thing we have to remember is "we do not hurt others".
