I discovered that my son will tends to eat more and even drink more when he was using his own cup and plate. He seems to prefer eating and drinking from his favorite set of cup and plate. I just observed it and discovered this weird habit. Why children have this kind of interesting way of eating and drinking? Is every child have this same kind of attitude? Have you observe your children eating and drinking habit lately?

My daughter has a FORK that she prefers over every other fork in the house. It is one that does not match the other ones. She has her own cups and plates and bowls as well, but that FORK.....drives me nuts sometimes.

Yes, my son always eat from his own plate with his own spoon and fork as well. I always make sure that i had put them back at the same place, after i had clean them. So, my son won't complain. Is your daughter always complain if she can't find her fork and other things?

My 2 year old daughter likes to drink out of a bottle that had a honey color tinge to it. My 4 year old disabled son likes to drink out of a bottle that is transparent. They both enjoy drinking out of a box with a straw. It is a strawberry flavor soya drink in that. In their bottles they drink plain soya drink because we are a vegan family. At nursery my son had a blue cup with a lid. He refused to drink out of the green cup just the same type. It is very interesting young children prefer to use their favorite cup and plate.

Maxi, indeed your children have a unique approach towards their drinking preference. Hope when they grow older, they won't have this kind of preference. Now, i am training my son not to always prefer the same cup and plate when eating out.

Children have some interesting habits and I love some of their habits, We should support them for their habits which are beneficial for them, some children do not like to eat and parents put much effort to feed them. it is good to provide them their plate, cup etc if they are happily eating in them. yes not only children we also have some preferences for eating

Some kids do have their own habits of doing things like us adults do. For example, my son has developed the habit of using not only his own bowl for rice, but also using his favorite white blanket even though it is old after many years since he was a little kid. It is interesting though and I find that it is the same with us adults to some degree, namely we have our own habits of doing things. Take care, friend.

I often watched my son eat. During this, my son did not have a favorite cup or plate. My child will eat, with any dish. My son will eat a lot, if the food is cooked with delicious. No salinity or less salty, or with the right seasoning. My son is not picky about food, provided that, the food was delicious my children would eat a lot.

Wow, your son seems not as choosy as my son. Regarding food, my son also don't really choosy about it. Same like you, as long i cook deliciously, he will eat a lot without any complain...Only my son is choosy about his plate and cup as well.

my son also loves to eat and drink with his favorite cup, plate, spoon and fork. He also had his favorite toy that he loves to play, his favorite cartoon character and has favorite movies that he always watched repeatedly everyday. I think that is normal for a child to have their favorite things which they love to use, to look and play, have favorite food...That's why they are called a CHILD...

Yes, i think you have a right point. It is indeed usual for each child to have their own favorite things to eat, drink and play. I discovered that my son just loves to watch Spongebob squarepant. He seems not feels bored watching this same picture or even movie repeated everyday.

My children were like that too when they were still kids. First when we went to the kitchen ware of this department store and grab the set of plate and glass. Then every meal they make it a point that they are using this same plate and glass that they had just let me bought for them. If that plate was not used by them, they will eventually look for it and use it. Then they will have a good appetite for that meal then. Also if we eat out and the dinner set that was used by the restaurant is very nice, again they will consume all the food or order more. As a mother I just let them choose their preference as long as it would give a good result.

Yes, sometimes it is difficult. We can't decide everything for our children. Children are very choosy and tends to choose to eat their food in their choices of plates and glasses.

Children want their own identity too, when it comes to their things. It is typical of every children to feel that way, specially when it comes to their eating utensils. Eating in them would always be a nice time for them. So, when you feed your child , always make sure that it's her/his utensils that you are using, lest he/she will let you transfer the food you already prepared to his /her own utensils.

Yes, she have her favorite plate and cup as well as her fave pillow. I think most kids is like that. Some things are special to them and they became very attach to it. Eventually, this will pass, this is just normal because this is their comfort zone as of now.

Growing up as a kid before, I would really prefer to have my own cup and plate set. It made me feel that I own something and aything put inot it is just plain mine. Maybe that's why kids tend to eat more with their own kind of plate and cups. Maybe it is a bout the sense of comfortability that lies with owning the cup and plate. When you are most comfortable, you tend to enjoy doing things. That's the reason I am able to think for such a phenomenon.

Yes, i think you are right that children tends to like to own something so they can feels comfortable with it. That's the reason why, they tends to eat and drink a lot when they are giving the food and drink using their own preferred plate and cup....

My children were not like this and I agree...it is a strange habit. I suppose though if a kid was a finicky eater and was given "special" plates or cups etc and that got him to eat then it's a good thing.

When I was about six years old and living at my grandmother's I had a cute cup that I would drink out of. It was green and inside down at the bottom was a frog. I remember things I didn't care that much to drink I would drink if it was put in that cup. When the liquid got low you could see the little frog down at the bottom and it would always make me smile. My child have had favorite plates with Disney characters like Pooh that they like and will use more that others.

When mine were little, they had their own sets of cups plates to eat from. They still do tend to have a favorite cup. It's funny you mention that because I think when I go to get a cup or a glass...I have a preference too..lol.

Hi myfb: I think this is interesting. For kids, they feel interested abojut the color and the shapes so giving them a special plate is a good way to stimulate them to eat. that's a good strategy. In my house, we are all grown up so all the plates are just the same but I can tell you that I enjoy drinking on my favorite glass which is the longest one . ALVARO

Yes when my kids were younger they did have their favorite plate and cup. As they got older they tend to favor a certain type more so then the actual favorite ones. Same with me as I do not like to eat off plastic plates and or drink out of plastic cups. This falls the same with my kids too.

they can identify themselves to certain character found in a plate or cup. my kids have different preference, one likes spiderman and the other spongebob. these somehow increase their willingness to eat more.
