What Happens to the Trash in the Garbage Disposal?

I know, my questions astound you. But I really do need to know. I mean there's just gobs of food we so non-nonchalantly stick down the garbage disposal, pull the switch, it starts growling and poof all the food is gone. Where does it go? Do I need to empty something out? Do you even use or have a garbage disposal?

That's good because I wouldn't know where to go to empty anything. Going down the sewer makes it all nice and neat. Thanks Lakota.

Thats a very good question. I guess it just grinds it up and it goes down the drain along with where the water goes to. I guess it goes in the sewer line.

That seems to be the consensus. Grind, drain, sewer. Thank goodness.

The water just washes it down into the sewer, doesn't it?

Oh I really hope so. Honestly, I have no idea. But that's what my daughter said too.

I think the garbage disposal probably goes to the same place as the sewer does. And I have never heard of anyone having to empty anything. Just keep that clean so it doesn't smell. It can get really bad. Alittle bleach poured down it does the trick. I can handle the goo that forms if you don't keep it clean.

I mentioned using bleach to my daughter. This is her first house and there's a lot of questions she's asking we don't have answers for. I can now pass on to her that bleach is a good idea. Thanks, my friend.
