putting realtor on hold

So the realtor came out on Monday. The news wasn't so great about housing prices, but then that wasn't a terrible shock given the current state of the US economy.
She's planning on coming back on Monday and our intention was to list the house.
But life tends to throw curves.
So I have to meet with my doctor next Monday and talk about my test results. Based on what they turn up, I may have to make a decision about how to treat things, more drastic than just hormones. Probably it's a choice between an ablation and a hysterectomy.
Honestly, after talking to people, I'm leaning toward the hysterectomy, unless the test results strongly indicate another approach.
So do I really want to deal with a major surgery AND selling the house and moving? I think not.
So I'm going to call her tomorrow and tell her that I'll call her after my doctor appointment and let her know if we want to list the house or not.
Hey, I could use the 3 months off to go through things (if I'm even feeling up to it toward the end of that)...

You won't need three months off. The only reason my doctor made me take six weeks was because I worked with little kids and he was afraid I would play too hard.I took a vacation while on leave. Flew back east. On the other hand, if you can get three months paid, enjoy it. Yep, I would wait on the realtor myself.

Nope, when you take three months off you end up not wanting to go back and you decide you have to deal with more crises, and then two years later, you end up like good old Garden Gerty, unable to find a good job. Go back to work as soon as you are allowed, so you can take your leave time for moving when you do sell the house.

I've been off for 3 months exactly 3 times. 2 pregnancies, and a leave for my back. I enjoyed the rest, but I was ready to get back...

I think it's a good idea. If you have a hysterectomy you will not feel like packing and move, if necessary. You may not get a lot of help in the packing and unpacking department. I had an emergency appendectomy the weekend before we moved and packing wasn't fun. My husband was drive long haul so I didn't have much help. I wasn't suppose to be carrying anything. We lived on the thrid floor. So I was actually carrying things down the stairs too. But as you know we do what we need to do. Whether we are suppose to or not. Best Wishes!

Reminds me of when we were moving and I was pregnant, and somebody had put my bed together and left off the bed skirt. So I moved the mattress off, put the bedskirt of, and got help to put the mattress back. Got my butt chewed out, I did...

I bet you did. My husband wasn't happy with me either. However, he knew there wasn't a whole lot he could've done to stop me. I pretty much do what I want too. He knows I'm stubborn and I won't listen anyway. Best Wishes!

I have other advice, but may put it in a pm. I am just old enough not to talk about everything online.

Should have been doing that the last year. lol But if I have the surgery, I may have some time toward the end where I can do that.

You are far more important than a house. Lots of them and only one of you. Get yourself sorted out, take some time - the Boss got 6 weeks after her hysterical ectomy of which 3 were definitely not "sorting out" capable ones. Take a little holiday at the end if you can and then you can do your house clearance stuff.

I honestly hope you go for the hysterectomy. They are so much technologically with it now days than they were back thirty years ago. And what about the time margin of putting your house on the market. It might be a good idea to get it going now in case there is a wait. Just something to think about.

I was thinking the same thing. I just hate to have you wait so long to get out of there and start fresh. Guess you will be starting fresh from a couple of different angles, huh? You will feel alot better once it is done.

Aftr I had mine I ended up going to Tenn for my fathr in law was n the hospital with gaangrene in his foot the later cut it off but while there staying with him in the hospital I had my own bed to lay on.
after we took care of that got home and had a heck of a windstorm( we were in Lousiana at that time)
Hte wind moved the A/C so we had a swimmingpool in out front room no electric for days and had to move and that was a trip we lived on 2nd floor the kids and I moved hbby worked they didnt want me to lift anything and they would get a mattress or something big then fight how it was going down stairs well took 3 days to get movedbut did this in the 6 weeks I was healing.
But if ya dont haveto move right away I would say it best to rest get strength back ya ya can do something after the first 2 weeks just no lifting

At the end of my time off (assuming surgery), I will probably be able to get at least a few things done.

Yes, with today's technology, we have a better chance than when our parents were our age..

As you know I had a hysterctomy. One of the best things that ever happen to me! I have known alot of woman who had it done! Then no more periods! No more worring when your cycle will start! No more buying feminine protection! With me I the surgery ended my PMS days, too! A win,win situation all around!

I'm leaning toward the hysterectomy, unless the doc gives me a darn good reason why something else is a better idea.

Honestly, you probably won't need three months off of work, but if that is what your doctor wants you to have, then take it and use it to actually get the house ready to be on the market. When my mother had hers done she was put off of work for six weeks and got him to extend it for an additional two weeks (she wasn't hurting anymore, she actually just wanted the extra time because she had a vacation planned and wanted to be able to use disability pay instead of vacation time).
I certainly hope that everything worked out the way that you hoped that it would.

Although multi-tasking is great, I vote for doing one thing at a time. For anything this major anyway. And I vote that you deal with your health first. Hopefully it isn't anything that too drastic.
Who knows?! Maybe if you wait long enough, the economy and house prices might pick up (wishful thinking on my part).
