hello everyone, i was doing mylot when my granddaughter asked that she sleep near me. i said, ok sleep on the couch nearby. after sometime, i heard a little snore and then she talked. "she said stop running. you are too fast." it made me stop doing mylot and looked at her. but she was fast asleep. i guess she was dreaming. i also see my dog like that most of the time. sometimes it kicks like it is running while lying down. and barks. does anyone experienced seeing and hearing someone talk in his/her sleep? doesnt it bother you? how do you find it? scary? funny? ann

Haha..my family did that but not me...I have heard everyone of my family members talking and screaming in their dream..I can hear them speak vividly..sometimes they are running away from someone, sometimes they are preparing to start going somewhere and many more. I always asked what they dreamed about but they can't remember it. I asked them if I have ever do that and the answers negative~(^^)

hello ct, those are funny things you just said. i just hope medicine and science could help determine why this happens. and also, why the person could not remember the dream. thank you so much for sharing. ann

For me it is because of what they think before they get to sleep or they just feel tired.Like my mom when she is having stress and worry things she will have bad quality of sleep. Like my brother when he is tired he will say things that makes him feel tired on that day in his sleep.(^^)

I have many family members who talk in their sleep. I usually find something funny in what they say. usually that person wakes up to find me making fun of them. it can be quite an ice breaker to conversation sometimes.

hello gordy, aint is cute for the dog to be barking in its sleep? yes, its action makes me smile too. sometimes i get near it and wake her.. and asks if she was dreaming. she just blinks her eyes and gets back to sleep. thank you for sharing. ann

My dog used to bark a lot in her sleep. It wasn't the same bark as when she was awake but more stifled almost like a whisper. It was quite funny to hear and always made me smile. I've been told I often laugh in my sleep.

My 15 yr old has always talked in her sleep. It's funny and scary. Funny at the things she says sometimes, but most of the time I can't understand her. Sometimes she'll be sitting up in bed, just jabbering away and she'll have no memory of it in the morning. Scary because in the middle of the night, I'm woken up to her yelling something and I have to rush to her room to make sure no one has broken in. She did start sleepwalking late last year and I took her to see a neurologist, who told me that talking and sleepwalking are very normal in children. I was really bothered by the sleepwalking, even though I could pinpoint what was causing it, I was worried she'd walk outside. She hasn't and now that the situation is no longer, she hasn't been sleepwalking at all. The neurologist told me the next step would be to give her medication that would interrupt her sleep cycle, but I found out that I can interrupt her sleep cycle at home by simply waking her up an hour after she's gone to sleep and then having her go right back to sleep.

Hi! Yep, the neurologist specializes in sleep disorders and he told me it is very common for children to talk in their sleep, as well as sleepwalk. The sleepwalking is something he feels my daughter will grow out of but I've seen that as soon as the stressor was removed, she stopped. She might start up again if she is stressed that badly again, but at least now I know it's normal & I know how to deal with it. Hope you're having a great Monday! :)

hello rowantree, the neurologist said it is normal? i thought it otherwise (even if i do not know really). i find it weird because others do not walk or talk in their sleep. but it is good you have found a solution to it. have a nice day. ann

I have had an experience like that when I was married. My ex wife would do that from time to time. I even told I should film her so that she could see what she was saying. But I never did. It was strange, but that his her problem now.

Hello tigeraunt, My elder brother has this habit. I remember when we were child we used to share a room one night he shouted so loudly and i was waked up and sat and saw my brother he was sleeping at that time hahaha. Similarly it happened in my college days as in hostel i used to share room with 2 guys and one night we all were sleeping suddenly he started crying and shouting mummy mummy and i thought he was crying in reality i switched on the light to see him and saw he was sleeping at that time.I understood that he also has the same habit as my elder bro.hahaha

I don't know if I talk in my sleep, but i know many peole do. I wonder what your daughter was dreaming of? I have heard my ex step daughter talk in her sleep, and she used to sleep walk too! She did some really weird things. My cat dreams, and makes funny sounds, she twitches. Also my dog dreams and makes little yapping sounds in her sleep.

hello dasari, when one is asleep, i dont think he is aware of what he is doing. only the witness to his doings can say that he did this or that. well, you gotta tell them when they awake the next time. if still they dont believe you, go record it or video them on your cellphone cam. that will be the best evidence. thanks for sharing. ann

Also with dogs. The first time I witnessed that on a dog made me understand that animals also dream Babies do that too My baby for instance would always laugh in her sleep, LOL! Sometimes, sob. But mostly laugh. So adorable

I experienced this in two ways! One, that I was sleeping with my brother beside when we were young, and suddenly he began laughing! I was scared at first because I thought there might be some ghost playing on me around. But then I heard the laugh again and then confirmed that it was indeed my brother who was laughing. Two, it was me who was talking while I was sleeping with my ex-girlfriend, and she told me later when I woke up that I was talking, saying that I want a McDonald's Happy Meal! Weird indeed.

Mine was quite scary because I ran out from the house going somewhere I did not know. Most people who knew me and who had heard many stories about this said that I might be going to the place I have in my dream. I think I was dreaming about my grandmother that time who is living in the town. They even added that I might go to the town running while sleeping...unconscious and won't even feel tired. Like going with the wind. It takes 20-30 minutes going to the town by motorcycle. I was really scared when I found myself outside the house standing and barefooted.

airen hello, this is what i call scary and dangerous. you are not in our conscious mind and out where you might meet accident. it is best that you lock your doors so that even in your subconscious mind, you cannot open it. you need to have companions when you sleep too i guess. ann

I think that talking in one's sleep is actually more common than most of us think ... lol! When I was younger I used to talk in my sleep and sleep walk alot thankfully that finally stopped. Now and then my daughters will talk in their sleep i just find it funny and once in a while try to get them to have a conversation in their sleep

I have to say that I talk in my sleep. Until my husband pointed it out to me, I never knew I did it. He has told me some of the things I've said while sleeping, and I have to admit that it's really funny. None of it make sense, but it's funny as hell.

Sweety It is common for guys and girls to talk while sleeping, no wonder Thea did it. Let me tell you, a renter of mine, who is 65, talks while fast asleep.. You may ask, how i know, well one day she was in our house, slept in my wife's room, because her room had no power.. She was talking Kalyani called me, we awoke her, on being asked, she said, 'no, i was not talking' I have a suggestion, next time if she talks, use your mini Sony tape recorder to record and let her hear next day. Thanks for this post Best of luck. Professor

Ha ha, that is a very cute story. This I believe occurs when they are not at that deep sleep mode yet, next time this occurs, go near your granddaughter, or your dog and see if you can see movement under their eyelids. So basically while the eyelids are closed, their eyes could still be moving. Freaky yes, but it just means they have a very active brain at that moment. I personally have 2 brothers, both in the next rooms beside me, left and right. The other talks very loudly in his sleep, sometimes you can converse with him and he'll murmur something back. The other farts during his sleep, this I find very hilarious. It is as if they are both still awake sometimes.

hello way2vision, yes i find that funny. it's good you are not in the same room with them or it will be chaotic. am sure you will be laughing so loud that they two would awake and find you like crazy because they have no knowledge what you are laughing at. have a nice day. ann

I think it is normal. My little girl would talk in her sleep like she is still playing around with her playmates. Sometimes she is happy and sometimes she is sad and angry. I might be talking in my sleep too that I just don't know it. My dog is just like yours too, but he doesn't bark. He just make noises as if she is talking.

hi thetis, it is possible that little children are like this. but i dont think i can explain why they are like that. it is good that many of them have outgrown it or there will be too many of them to watch talking as they sleep. ann
