What is the best thing in your life right now? Why?

We all have some kind of light in our lives, or otherwise we wouldn't keep living. So my question to you is, what is the best thing in your life right? What makes you get up each morning? Is this best thing recent or has it always been in your life? What do you think you would do if you were to lose that best thing tomorrow?

The best thing in my life right now is college. I love it so much; it's been such an enriching and fun experience so far. I literally jump out of bed some mornings to get there early! It's been a light and an inspiration to me, and it couldn't have started at a better time. I've been having problems in my personal life (breakup, diagnosed with depression, just general malaise and fatigue from going through high school) and finally starting college has just improved my mood so much. It's the culmination of my entire life thus far, and I'm going to do my very best to make every year--nay, every semester--better than the last. I have no idea what I'd do if I couldn't go, or if I lost my aid. Maybe curl up in a hole and die. Or maybe I'd just apply again. They can't get rid of me that easily. :3

Ha - that's great! To bad not everyone is that thankful for their time in college! It's great that something finally came along that has helped your life move in an upward direction. All the issues you mentioned sound like a bit much to all be on the shoulders of one person.

I thought it was a lot at the time, but now it seems like a bit less. I'm surprised sometimes when I see people in class and they're sighing, complaining, or not paying attention! I thought people in college wanted to be there, but I guess just because you have to doesn't mean you want to. My first day of college was one of the proudest moments of my life. :)

When I went back to school at 38 to finish my degree, I loved it so much I started on my masters. It is exciting to learn new things and get validation from teachers and from learning and accomplishing new things. Glad you are having so much fun! Good luck!

The best thing in my life is my health. I have not always appreciated what it is to have health and took it for granted but after having a few issues and meeting people worse off than I was, I am oh so grateful I am healthy. I find I need to just appreciate life more and try to live each moment no matter what is going on around me.

Very true! I think of the people who have lost everything because of impossible medical bills.

The best thing to happen to me is my guy fell for me. He is the reason I get up in the morning , the reason I enjoy my day and night! If I were to lose him, I would die inside. Life would fade from color to black and white . I may noy kill myself put I would stop living.

Right now, its my kids who have started their school life. So making them getting into a new world of knowledge is best thing in my life. And i love they take up education happily and showing interest on their own.

My son is the sole reason I still get up each morning. He gives me hope and a concrete reason to live. After a crappy day, he still manages to make me smile. I'm striving harder now because of him. He's my guiding light and I can't imagine living without him.

He gives you something to work for, doesn't he? That's great that you have a direction to move towards in your own life. :)

Yes he does. I wouldn't be where I am now if not for him. If he never came into my life, I'd still be as crazy as I was back then. Now I know which path to take. =)

I think it is wonderful that your son comes to visit you each week! Back in school my choir teacher used to take us to the local rest home once a month to sing and socialize. Most of those people has just been dumped there and forgotten by their families. It was tragic - I am glad you don't fit into that category. The retirement home sounds pretty boring - but as least you have escape. :)

I'm honestly not sure what the best thing in my life is right now...I have my own business...a place to live...friends and family (loved ones) I have the love of my life (i hope im right!) and have my pets. Honestly every once in a while theres things that pop up that cause stress like money issues or things breaking down but if i just get them fixed and deal with them rather than freakign out they arent so bad either. I'd say...my life is the best thing in my life.

My kids and husband of course. I love my husband very much even after being with him for nearly 26 years. We are still very much in love. Also my kids. My kids are amazing and I am proud of each and everyone of them. If anything happened to any one of them I would be completely devastated. I don't even want to think about that, as the thought of that is so awful.

The light in my life is my grandson. He is soon to be nine years old. Has a nack for engineering, very into his Legos and Transformers. And has even gotten into video games lately. He is a great joy to me. My writing and the internet is another one. My writing has been a joy since I was in my teens and the older sister of a school friend introduced me to it. I'm working at it! Love to do research and check out different things online. I don't like to think about doing without my writing but I would rather give it up than my grandson.

I hope your grandson goes on to do great things - it sounds like he has the stuff required. :) I agree that writing is a great hobby - a way to escape for a few hours and to get those ideas bursting in your head out. This world would be quite boring if it was all fact.

What a question! I had a jillion thoughts running through my head, but I'll just stick with my first thought: The best thing in my life for the past 11 years has been my dog Tidbit (and her daughter whom I lost last year). It is like I felt when I was the mom of a wee one ... She needs me and I need her. Tidbit is my canine soulmate; never has a dog grabbed my heart like this gal. After losing Scratch last year and how painful it was, I don't even want to think of the mess I'll be when Tidbit is gone. She keeps me grounded, keeps me from giving up when things get tough, and with a wag of her tail fills my moments with a ray of sunshine.

That's great! I'm glad you have such a companion. Everyone needs someone in this life and it sounds like you have a pretty good one! I am sorry about Scratch though - especially since it sounds like she went away kind of young. The bright side is you still have your baby. :) I wish you and your canine champion a long life with each other! :)

I have a lot of good things that i can say are what keeps me going. Our daughter now taking up Medicine, makes me get up each morning with the hope that she will someday be a great doctor who can help her fellowmen. I live each day and look forward to that day when she can finally become a doctor. I am making sure that she will have it, by praying to God to help her with her studies and keep her safe always in the far city where she studies.

not everything is going as i would picture them to be. one of the best things i have in life now would be my faith. ive always been the type who nitpicks at about almost anything and i always find myself discouraged whenever i fail or i get rejected. with everything that has happened, i now try to worry less and just keep my faith that things will be fine; just need to take them a day at a time. life is indeed full of surprises. months ago i have been drained off all the positive i can ever do to stay in a relationship. finally i had the courage to say it's over and now im starting a new chapter of my life with someone really wonderful... he is one of the reasons i am happy everyday, next to my family :)

I can't answer just one thing. I have my faith and my prayer life which keeps me sane. I have my husband of 41 years who has always supported me in what I want to do and has been there for me and still loves me despite living with a crazy woman. I have 2 grown children I enjoy and a job I enjoy with a great boss. What else is there?

I do agree that prayer is a great thing to practice in this turbulent, modern life. Being married for over forty years is very impressive. As for having a great boss one is content with, I think that might even be rarer. You are very blessed! :)

The best thing in my life right now would be my kid and my husband. I use to be really lazy in going to work. But now, I get up every night even if I don't feel like it.

I am a career minded person, and I focus on getting the right job, the kind I would very much value and enjoy. Luckily, that's the best thing that has happened to me right now. I have a full-time job at a company doing international trading business, and I devote my time on conducting market research work. I enjoy that very much.

I'm glad you are in a career you enjoy! So many people are not and they only find that out after they have a fortune in time and money on college for the wrong degree and have locked themselves in a job they hate.

The best thing..well not thing, persons rather since i could not say a "thing" that is best for me because those are just "things"..so it would be my family, my kids and hubby. They are my motivation to wake up each day, they are the ones keeping me going..and no i do not think of loosing them tomorrow or else i would not want to wake up if i know by tomorrow they are not there.

The thing that keeps me going is the belief that things can change. I have done nothing with my life thus far. But, I believe that God put us here for a reason--and it isn't just to sit around and wait until it is all over. As long as I am alive, there is a chance that God will finally reveal to me what He wants and give me the opportunity and the power to do it.
