Well I am going to attempt another yard sale. It has been a few years since I had my last one and boy have things piled up and we really need to clean out the garage and see what else we can get rid of. My neighbor has decided to have one as well so we are both doing our yard sales at the same time right next to each other....we are hoping this will generate more business. Have you attempted a yard sale before? Was it successful for you?? How long has it been since your last yard sale?? Please share your yard sale stories here... anything that can help me!! Thank you.

I had a yard sale with my sister two years ago...two of her friends also contributed things...so it was a big sale and we all did okay. The best part was just getting rid of so much stuff. What was left we donated...

That is my main objective, getting rid of stuff and letting others get things that they can use so that I dont have to just throw things out, and making a little extra money from it isnt bad either. thanks for the response and have a great night! Happy Mylotting.

Honestly, I'm not good in that field. I guess business is not at all my passion. Yes, I've tried that before and we're selling foods but it wasn't that effective since I'm just eating most of them. I was tempted to eat that's why, it wasn't that effective. LOL

N0, it isnt for everyone and to be honest, today we started ours and it is a lot of work. I am exhausted although I will be very happy to get rid of stuff that has been piling up over the last couple years. thanks for the response and have a great night. Happy Mylotting.

We have done garage sales, but not a yard sale. Garage sales are a lot of work and we did not make that much money. Killed the enthusiasm for it, I think.

LOL I have done this a couple times and with my aunts the times that I have so at least it was fun to visit with my family and make a little extra money while doing it. sorry yours didnt work out. thanks for the response and have a great night!! happy mylotting.

I have had them about 6 times since I have been in this house which we have been in for the last 15 years. I usually do pretty well, making around $500. I attempted to have one last year but it poured down rain the whole weekend it was crazy. So I had it again the next weekend and once again got mostly rained out. I would have done it again but my husband wanted all the stuff out of there so I had to just donate everything that was left to charity. I had one decent afternoon out of both weekends. I still managed to make just shy of $300 but I am sure I could have made a lot more if it had not been for the rain or if my husband had let me do it the following weekend.

I think you did well, I had put some stuff in my aunts one year and made almost $100 and that was about 5 yrs ago....then again at another aunts I remember I made $87 for the weekend but it was so much fun I didnt care about the money and that was almost 8 yrs ago. LOL I am hoping to do well, the weather is suppose to be great this weekend so hopefully lots of people will be out looking at garage sales. thanks for the response and have a great night!! happy mylotting.

We just had one this past week on Friday and Saturday. We did great on Friday but Saturday we did about 1/10 of the sales that we had done the day before. We made a little over $300 so it was successful. The last sale last year we made about $225. We have had some bad luck with weather though. We have had rain for our last five garage sales.

I think you did have a success with yours.... I am hoping to do as well. I am hoping that with my neighbor setting up and having 2 houses in a row that maybe that will draw a bigger crowd and we can get rid of a lot more stuff. thanks for the response and have a great night!! happy mylotting.

I did once and it was a two day sale in my yard as well. I made $700 and was so happy as I also got rid of a lot of stuff. I planned on a day that I knew others too would have them in their yards this saved me from having to do all the signage and or appealing to people. Many walked up and down all of our yards and I was very lucky that one time. Good luck and I hope you not only get rid of some clutter but make some money too.

You did very well... I hope to do half as good as you did. I really want to make some money but I also really want to get rid of what I can. We need to make the room in the garage with stuff that has been building up and our house has little closet space so I have no room for stuff and by getting the garage cleaned out will give me space to set up for things that we dont use as often in the house. thanks for sharing and have a great night. Happy Mylotting.

i love going to yard sales and especially church yard sales. i think that having more people participating in a yard sale will draw more people. my mom and i generally have one every spring and make a couple of hundred each.

I've never been very successful with yard sales, so I finally gave up on them. The last one I tried was as part of a neighborhood-wide sale, and I barely sold anything. Maybe, one day, if I'm ever in (or have access to) a spot that has really good traffic and a lot of yard sale enthusiasts in the area, I might give it another go. However, for now, I'll stick with donating the things that I no longer want/have need of.

We had a yard sale just before we moved. We had too many things and we decided to sell the things that we could and the donate the rest of the things to charity. It was our first yard sale and we didn't really know what to expect, but quite a few people showed up and we made about $60 in a couple of hours. We had divided our things in different catagories like 50 cents, $1, $4 and $10 and we sold small things as well as big things. The things that we didn't managed to sell (quite a lot of things) we donated to charity.

I have never had much luck with yard sales. I find that people come early when you are not ready or just setting up. They hassle you and then everyone is frustrated. I have sold things on Ebay and Craigslist and then donated the rest to Goodwill. Hope your yard sale goes well for you.

I never start a yard sale myself before, but I heard my uncle and my cousin has done a sale yard at home a couple of times. They did sell some of the old stuff, although not much money earned, but they still be able to sell some of them. Anyway, good luck with you.
