When Do You Do Your Bills?

I do all of my bills at the end of the month except for the water bill because it is due earlier then the rest. Some people do their bills as they come in. When do you pay your bills?

Definitely at the last possible moment! And those estimated bills - the ones where they are too lazy to read the meter - they don't get paid! I don't give them any opportunity to gain extra interest on my money!

I struggle with those too, but we do have a large German Shepherd in our backyard a lot of the time, so unless we are home they can't get back there. I have actually called the numbers in myself before.

Yes, that could be a problem! My electricity bills are alternately real / estimated. I wonder if the meter reader is a part time worker since the meter only gets read three times a year!

See I don't think that is right. I tell my husband we might as well run our air conditioning because we are going to pay for it weather we run it or not.

I use to be able to set dates during the month when I can pay bills. I am not working so things are pretty tough, so all I can do is pay as soon as the money is available, which usually comes out to be just short of the due dates.

We are in the same position right now. Actually we are living off of savings which is depressing.

Very depressing lady and that is what I did until the savings ran out. I do hope life gets better for both us and we can somehow move past it.

I make the payments on the bills mostly by the endo of the month. But, I do make sure that I do not miss the last date for payment as shown on the bill, because if I miss the date, there will be penalty charged. And, I do not like to pay that penalty. That's an extra cost !

I don't like those charges either. I always make sure I give them enough time to get there on time.

Thankfully we don't have a mortgage or rent nor credit card bills. We have been blessed with only four bills to pay, them being electric, water, phone and cable. So we pay them as they come in. They usually come in two at one time and the other two about a week later. So we go to the bank as they come in and pay them right away. If we let them sit around we are afraid we will forget them and then be late in paying.

That would be nice to have no mortgage or taxes. We hope to pay our mortgage off early, but we still have at least 5 years before we will be able to do that unless we get an inheritance or something.

Since I moved to California last December, I set up a weekly schedule on Tuesdays and Thursdays to pay up bills. Every Tuesday and Thursday, I send one that is sooner to the due date, one at a time. Do you ever ask/discuss about your bills with your neighbors or your friends?

We pay bills all month as they are due, and as we have money. I have several due on or before the 15th of the month.

Hi ladym33, I have a poor memory doing certain chores paying electricity and water bill is one amongst all. I don't want these essential supplies to be cut therefore I have to pay them before due date. To avoid having such undesired happening I finally get all the bills paid via credit card. I just had to spend some time to deal with them filling and signing agreement forms at the respective counters and everything got settled then. Since then I don't have to worry about these bills payment any more for they will be deducted from my card account monthly automatically I'm glad that score points will be accumulated to my card account as well. Therefore it's exactly a win win situation

We pay all of our bills as they come in. Unless we're short cash, then we wait for my next payday to pay them.

I will see to it that the bills are paid a few days before the deadline. But I make it a point to pay the bills on time especially credit card bills and utility bills. It is quite easy to pay them as I use online tools and I got my money ready on my savings account and the like.
