I have advised a friend to Meditate regularly

This friend has problems with his sons, the sons live with wives’ in the same city, never care for the parents, and the wife is Goddess for them. He is so depressed, he came to me few hours ago, totally upset. I told him to forget the issue, try to be happy; because he has his monthly pension. I advised him to meditate daily for just half an hour daily, in front of idol of God Ganesh, starting from HIS birthday the first of September. It calms the mind and gets rid of disturbing thoughts and restores peace of mind. The mind will not be easily disturbed as it was before. He may gradually increase the period of daily meditation. It will never interfere with his daily work, rather increase the efficiency. Guess I did right; I want to see him happy and healthy. Please share your opinion and comment on this. Thanks in advance. Professor ‘Bhuwan’. .30/8/2011

I did attend a brief meditation course with Brahma Kumaris. For a while I was able to meditate and free my mind of any thoughts during the meditation that was what we are told when we meditate. But I did not pursue my meditation as I am always on the go and can't find a quiet place to meditate. Yes, I agree with you meditation can help us to calm down especially when we are facing a lot of stress in life.

Hi Professor, I feel certain that you did right. Meditation is not a part of our culture as it is yours, but more and more people in the west are beginning the practice. It is only in recent years that I have been trying to meditate, and am still not very good at it. I do 'go into the silence', as I like to call it and have been trying some meditation techniques that I have read about, and I do find it very helpful. I wish that I had someone to teach me, but I don't, so I just try to learn on my own. You appear to be a caring and compassionate person and I'm sure that's why your friend came to you. Blessings.

I am not familiar with your god "Ganesh" and being from the west I do not understand the power of meditation. Can you explain to me what you think about when you are meditating? Do you think of the goodness of your god? Or do you try to not think at all? It sounds like a good practice.

It is really important to stop and medidate daily. It is only when we see our own world from afar that we are able to see truly ourselves and our situations. It is important also to always be with our God for if we spent time with Him daily and stay always on the boundaries where He can bless us, we will live unafraid and at peace all the time amidst the odds. :)

Hello Papa! I have heard a bit about meditation on how it helps a lot of people. I do have a lot of daily headaches and no medication is helping. I am wondering if this could help me, but not sure which way to go about doing so properly. My mind is always thinking and not sure if I could accomplish the meditation because my mind is always spinning. Can you recommend for me how to go about so that I can too learn to relax a bit too. Have a wonderful night.

My dear lovely friend meditation means close your eyes in morning time after doing all morning work and take God name like OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm or any God name which is your sounds like this. When your eyes close feel the god is infront of you. The second exercise for you is good is that take breath from one nose and leave breath from another nose then again take breath from second nose and leave from first nose in opposite. This yoga of Ramdeo Baba yoga. He is India's Yoga Guru Lots of people feel better after this yoga.. At least 10 to 15 minutes do this daily you will feel better with in a week. But properly take breath from one nose and put hand on another nose then leave with another nose and put hand on first nose ask more to Professor uncle.

Yes Papa (Professor) sent me an exercise that I have been doing and so far not helping but I am not giving up on it and hopefully it will help. Maybe my issues go farther and until I get tested as to what is going on, maybe it will not help. Some day with the help of God this will be resolved. Thank you my dear friend.

Hi, Meditation is best for a disturbed mind. I do it mostly when I'm stressed up or when I'm in bad moods. It helped me much when I was still in High School, working so hard to think positive in everything lest lose focus and derail my mind from education. At the long run, I emerged happy with my work. Some can think it is a waste of time since it needs total peace of mind, doing it in quiet places and mostly in a private place, but its worth it for those who know the best use of it.

You just did the right thing. If you view aastha channel then there is one programme by brahamakumaris which discusses the day to day issues. Relationships is one of the discussion there, whatever they tell there really creates peace in handling all kinds of relationships. I feel if you advise your friend regarding that programme then he can benefit by that as well.

That is a very good advice. I believe in the benefits and merits of meditation. It is a very good way to get relieved of the stresses in the mind. I ahve been practising meditation regularly, an hour a day, every evening after I get back home from my work. Meditation very much helps gaining mental as well as physical health.

That is some good advice for anyone. Being closer to ones self will help them stay calmer and be happier. I wish I had more time to meditate more. I would hope that this discussion stays up and is not deleted for lack of stubstance or whatever. Guess you did do right and hope it did help him.

hi professor, asian families are so closely knitted hence a little disturbance in the usual peaceful relations with sons and parents gives so much depression. meditation i guess is part of the indian way of having this peace in oneself hence you advised him that. if he was my friend, i will tell him to take it easy and not to prioritize that kind of problem. give him time to talk with his sons and hope that they understand what this father is feeling. what he needs now is a friend whom he can talk to. ann

There is a lot of power in Meditation and that is something that I've really come to realize this year. It is one of the best stress relievers that I've found through the journey that our family has been going through this year. In advising your friend to meditate on a regular basis, you are doing a great favor to your friend. He will find that he has less stress in his life and his mental well-being will definitely be better than it was before.
