Sleep In Pain and Wake-up Hurting

Hiya myLotters and friends! Busy people like you and me, not necessarily workaholics, will usually say that time is too short. And there are times we forgot to do one thing, or you would say, "I'll do that later?" And later on, you will feel the pain in your stomach. "Oh, I forgot to take breakfast, I forgot to eat." So now, you also have ulcer like many of us. What I wonder is this. When we are hurt and in pain (not necessarily ulcer), we treat the pain by taking medicine, besides going to the doctor for check-up. Sometimes we feel, we need to sleep to help the medicine work faster. Sometimes it works well, but sometimes no. Now for the question, what causes us not to feel the pain when we sleep? We sleep in pain and we wake up still hurting. But we did not feel the pain when we were sleeping? ~~ NEIL™~~

In sleep you are able to calm yourself, bring your heartrate down and become unconcious. So your pain is lessened just by those things. I would take a warm bath in ebson salts and be assured you have done everthing you can to sleep relaxed and get a good nights sleep. This will make the pain ebb when you wake up.

so it's actually the unconsciousness that we don't feel the pain? what about "pain ebb"? what's "pain ebb"?

when we are in sleep we are not in pain because our mind has taken rest our mind don`t feel the things which are going around us ..if u take pain killers it reduces ur pain but we do have the pain .. i am in pain from last 5 years so excatly i know how its goes on i have been awake due to pain for 72 hrs .... we do need a proper sleep and don`t think much from ur brain that u are in pain

Hi neil! Maybe because the pain sleeps, too? I think it has something to do with our body, particularly our brain and the concerned body parts and of course the nervous systems responsible for everything we sense in our body. When we sleep, I think our nerves calm down? The nerves in the painful body part will lessen sending signals to the brain that it hurts so the brain will also.. if it's shouting at you that the body part hurts, then while sleeping it will only whisper that the body part hurts so you would feel the pain less. Of course, this is just a guess. Anyway.. I would like to know that, too. And why, headache can be cured just by getting enough sleep.

So the endorphins can only act on the pain when we sleep?

Maybe because the pain sleeps, too? - as hatley said, there is this endorphins that our body produces that is not morphine but acts like morphine and much safer than morphine.

hi neildc there is some sort of pain reliever our brain produces when we sleep in pain so we will rest and not hurt.senior moment as I cannot remember its name but its said to be just as effective as if we had taken morphine for example but its not harmful as our body produced it just to help us. I am going to try our rotten search engine and see if I can find the name of it. lol. hugs from hatley.

got it hatley. when we sleep, we seem to forget the pain but the pain remains when we get up.

hello neil, I don't want to sleep now as I am feeling pain in my heart. I don't want to sleep and wake up with heart- aching and not stomach aching. okay, yes, why do we always wait for things to get worse before taking any action huh? Why do we always took our health for granted..like how this person took me for granted for hurting my heart (duh) Anyway, have your ulcer be cured and I will mend my broken heart (uh uh) have a good day dear brother and hugs to the little kiddo jaiho®

I'm not a doctor but it was explained to me like this. When we sleep, the rest of our body does. One even suggested to me that if i couldn't sleep i should tell each and every single parts of my body to go to sleep. So i would go, feet sleep, hands sleep, and so on. As funny as it may sound, they do work for me. So i guess that's why we don't feel pain when we are sleeping because the brain is also taking a rest, thus it cannot tell the cells responsible for that to go and create pain! And i don't take pain meds at all. My pain tolerance is very high and i would really endure as much as i can.

that's really funny to hear but good for you, it works with you when you are in pain or could not take the sleep you wanted. i guess i also have high pain tolerance but not as high as with my wife's tolerance.

I think it is because we go into a deep sleep phase. I know if I have pain, when I am in the slight phase, I can still feel pain, but not feel it whenI go intodeep sleep. Of course, to solve the problem of ulcers caused by not eating properly, one shoud always eat sensible healhty meals. A good breakfast is a must.

yes, when we are in deep deep sleep, we do not feel the pain. but when we come to wake up the next morning, we start to feel the pain again. of course we know, it is best to go to the doctor for proper check-up. but this is really one of the difficult moments of our lives. we hardly can save money for our health.

I'm not sure because I can still feel pain and it will keep me from sleeping. sometimes when I go to bed, I am not in pain, but while sleeping, the pain will start. As soon as it starts, I wake up and I am no longer sleeping. I cannot sleep if I am in pain. It wakes me from sleeping.

If you're experiencing pain, sleep on it and yet it's still there when you wake up then that's not a good sign. It's probably something that your body can't get rid off by itself and that's where medicine comes in. Just last night, I was awaken when my daughter cried, I checked the clock as it just past 3 AM. She's asleep and she cries every now and then which sounds annoying when you're awaken by it in the middle of your sleep, I thought it's just the heat but the fan is blowing right at her so I realized that she's in pain. I wake her and asked her what the problem was and she told me she had "singaw", actually she already complained about it before we went to bed but never took her seriously since there's nothing I can do about it and she don't want me to put some "tawas" in it either . I guess the pain is too much for her that she even feels it while sleeping. Which leads me to believe that if you manage to sleep while in pain and is not awaken by it then it means you're body can still take it.

you're right, if the pain persists when you wake up, you really need medicine. i guess, it still depends on the person. while you daughter is awaken by the simple "singaw" you as older than her could still bear with the pain.
