Boys (hand on forehead)....

So this morning is the twins' birthday. They're 11, and all excited to get a new xbox. While they were setting it up, I went into the downstairs bathroom and saw that Cary had thrown the towels on the floor again after his shower. OK fine, I was going to wash them anyway. Since our last foster kitten was adopted, I decided to remove the litter boxes from the bathroom and clean them out. That's when I notice that one of them is solid, totally solid. CARY!!!!!! "Did you put water in the litter box"? "Just a little, mom." Folks, this was one of those large, deep ones. A "little" water had to have been at least a quart, maybe more. Sigh. Ok, it's his birthday. I'll let him off this time. But boy, it's one thing to scoop out solidified chunks, it's another when the whole thing is solidified. At least he didn't decide to pee in it and see what happened....

Oh man, I can just imagine. At least he admitted it. . . that is, if that is what really happened. Kids, you gotta love em.

I think he still thinks I have eyes in the back of my head or something. Wait until he figures out that I don't.

Reminds me of a scene from "Earth Girls Are Easy"... One of the aliens observes the cat using the litter box (actually a wagon) and is about to follow suit...

You're lucky. I had cat litter in the downstairs bathtub drain. We kept the litter box in that bathroom when my boys were young. Yeah, litter in the drain and, of course, I found out when I turned the faucet on, leading to extremely wet litter. Oh, and this was before clumping litter came out! Yep, one solid chunk of clay in the tub drain. AND, the plumbing under this bathtub was under concrete. Thankfully, Roto Rooter was able to drill out the clay but it did cost me. Roto Rooter ain't cheap! Needless to say, my boys got a very stern lecture with the promise that THEY would pay for Roto Rooter if this ever happened again. That scared 'em pretty good and we never had a repeat of this particular problem. Happy Birthday, Guys!

Oh yikes, at least they were able to fix it, and you didn't have to have them go through the concrete to get to the pipes...

The lack of splatter around the litter box leads me to believe he didn't...

Don't they say that boys are harder to raise than girls? I wonder why! I am glad that my daughter takes care of the litter box. She even got a new kind with a lid on it so it isn't clawed all over the room. She has it in the small bathroom downstairs that I rarely use. Thank goodness!

We have 5 litter boxes, plus an extra one for when we foster kittens. It was the extra one that he got creative with.

Oh, I'm a mean one. I would've been making him clean it up--even if it was his birthday. I wouldn't be so sure that it really was just water...

tempting, don't think he could have done it though, it took the shovel to get it out, it was stuck that bad...

I swear, that is one thing that I will never be able to understand about boys. You know, mine is only going to be five years old next month, but still I wonder about him and some of the things that he does all the time. Luckily, he has never tried putting water, or worse pee in the litter box. However, he is my child that is sent home on a fairly regular basis from the neighbor's house because he peed on a tree.

Hum I know drenched it with water so that mom believes Cary took a bath today. This is what our little girl does, who visits us from England but I know what she is up to each time.

Oh how funny! So how did the water get into it? Did he just hold it over the shower head, or fill up glass after glass of water into it? Thanks for the chuckle today.. I really needed that one. Oh now I gotta peeeeee!!! Quit making me laugh!

Kids will be kids! We all do something crazy and stupid while growing up! Cary just shown he is no different! I glad it was just water! I am sure you would of been really upst if he peed in it! Lets hope he doesn't test that out with a litter box when you do more fostering in the future!

Awwww lol kids will be kids...I have 2 girls myself and would love to have a son but now that you are saying this, lol not really sure. How do you do it with twins? I go crazy with my 2 but I love them sooooo much and yes, they do things that are bad but when they say sorry and kiss me and hug me, all of my anger goes away. This is the reason we don't have cats lol. But now my little one loves eating the dog food...ewwww!

Happy birthday to the twins! Ok, I don't have a cat and have no clue about litter boxes except for its use. I didn't know the stuff could solidify like that! Hmmm, sounds like a good practical joke to play on a friend - ha ha. Well, wasn't it easier to dump one block instead of scooping out little bitties? Good thing we don't have that here - my little boy would be thinking it's a sand box!!

It's clumping litter. When it encounters moisture, it solidifies. But it's not expected to have cups and cups of water dumped into it. Yeah, we dumped the whole thing, but it took the shovel to get some of it out.

Kids are adorable and they are all the same! And I now what means to clean chunks from the litterbox with a broad knife. But you can get read of the litterbox if you use a washbasin with a newspaper teared to pieces.

Yes, once that litter chunks up. You might as well empty the entire box. There's no sense trying to beat those chunks. All you'll do is get is frustrated and end up dumping it out anyway. At least I would get frustrated. Best Wishes.
