hi mylot friends,
In south mostly Tamilnadu and Andhra Pradesh Idli is famous and best breakfast, Idli’s are in pure white color with softness, they are mouth watering to the viewers , they are cooked on the steam , due to healthy properties they gained more popularity in these two sothern states of Andhra Pradesh and Tamilnadu
They are preparing with small particles of rice and small Blackl grams, carbohydrates, proteins and other vitamins and minerals are available in idlis , they will provide low calories and more strength , they are easily digestible to any person,

Idlis can be consumed with coconut chutney, sambar, pickle
Tips: the taste of the idlis according the mix of the flour mix of black gram and rice, we can store the wet idli flour in the refrigerator and can be used for week long can make fresh Idlis

Idlis are not just eaten in South India but are also favourites with the Western part of India.There are numerous Udipi hotels and other restaurants in Mumbai where idlis,dosas,uthhapas and other southern foods are available and you will be surprised to know that people from other communities flock to such hotels.Idlis are also cooked by communities other than the Tamils and Anhraites.My mother used to make delicious idlis at home and i used to consume them heartily.Now that she is no more i am forced to order them from restaurants but it is not the same thing.Moreover they are also proving very costly so i eat them very rarely.

thanks for the response, you are right there are lot of south Indian and Udipi restaurants in all parts of India, home made idlis are different and hotel idlis are different,but in Bangalore and Chennai you get the best idlis than the home made, you can ask your wife to make idles,it is easy to make them,try once,have a nice day

Hi sreedhar,Idlis are my favorite snacks any time of the day.I can eat it for breakfast,lunch and dinner.For breakfast I like to have it with chutney,sambhar and chutney powder and for lunch with Fish curry if it is available and also Dahi Idlys are very tasty and nutritious..all the best and enjoy your evening

thanks for the response, mostly i too prefer idli when i am out side and if i am in home i prefer Dosa ,my wife prepare good dosa with several types one with Coconut Chutney , Ground nut chutney, Ground chutney with Aloo kurma and Bombai chutney with Red chilli chutney, we use powder also for dosas,but i does not like powder for Idli,have a nice day

Idli tastes like puto or rice cakes in our country but the difference as you have said, idlis are made from black gram and rice unlike or puto or rice cakes, it is made in gluten rice which is stickier and expands more than idlis.
Idlis are great to dip in chutneys and sambar unlike our own puto, it is best to match with dinuguan a famous Filipino dish. I only eat idlis when I'm travelling and we order it out, wish to try the recipe at home coz there are home made idlis available in the grocery.

thanks for the response, so you are also making idli type food in your country also, they are best with low calories and safe food for patients also, doctors are suggesting idlis for sick people and patients and children also, so now idli is world wide,have a nice day

I am from Gujarat. And I know that Idli is south Indian food. But people here surely love this too. My aunty made this at our home and surely they are delicious. It is the south Indian speciality so taste of Idli their should be more good.
About health, surely it is healthy and very light food.

thanks for the response,you can taste idli in any south Indian restaurant at Gujarat, once i have visited the Ahmadabad some 20 years back for an interview at Cadila,how is Gujarat with Modi's direction, i think Gujarat is the prosperous state in India,when go to south taste idli taste with Chutney and Sam-bar separately,have a nice day

In Kerala "Puttu" another dish for breakfast is famous. But it is not famous in north Kerala. I tasted and ate "puttu" which is really a good food.

thanks for the response, I do not know about "Puttu", i have visited Kerala twice but fifteen years back, i have not tasted Puttu, it is some what inconvenience to taste the new item in other place other,if it is home town some thing happen we may join hospital,but in out station it is difficulty,so i does not try like this,have a nice day
