mylot guidelines becoming folklore?

I think so. Folklore is defined as (n) The traditional beliefs, myths, tales, and practices of a people, transmitted orally. and I [[BELIEVE]] that only a few of us follow the rules here, or even know WHERE to go go to get them. Okay, so yes I've broken them myself, even recently.. so I know that we aren't all perfect, we aren't supposed to be... But come on, READ the rules... TRANSLATE them into your language.. and BOOKMARK this discussion so that you can get to the links you need... MAIN LINK : http://www.mylot.com/o/topguidelines.aspx LINK YOU'LL NEED MOST OFTEN : http://www.mylot.com/o/guidelines.aspx Please raise your hand if you're annoyed at all those who don't read the rules? Please pass the cake... no pass it this way!

hi somecowgirl my hand is up as I feel if there are rules we must follow in making discussions its only common sense to read them and learn them then make good non rule breaking discussions but was told that's mean and cruel to expect people to actually read the guidelines and the info.so take care cowgirl that someone does not throw brick bats at you for suggesting that we read the info for ourselves rather than tell each person this is rule one ,tthis is rule two etc now let me at that cake. lol lol

well, I'm not say it's the most fun thing to do (read the rules) but I've read them a long time ago. I don't stay on a site that I don't read the guidelines for, that's just me. Oh and it's some good cake.. Angel Food with strawberries and whipped cream.

Hello somecowgirl, To be honest, base on my experience it ain't that easy..until my first account was deleted(w/40$). That's probably why i some how stop reminding people because they will probably need a huge slap in the face comming from the admin before they started paying attention to the guidelines at hand. I am annoyed but probably have no right to be angry. it's not an overnight operation where we can sink rules into the person unless he or she makes mistakes by themselves. were not perfect, but maybe that's why admin kept asking us to help the new comers and remind them of the guidelines. not an easy task though

Not an easy task at all... I got flamed myself earlier because I chose to tag instead of respond, and the person got angry.. oh well. Good work doesnt' go unpunished.

You are right, even some of us who have been here forever go by things that are said to be true. Something else to remember is that guidelines can and do change from time to time as the site evolves. It is a good idea to check them often.

That is one of the guidelines that has changed and there are others. I did join MyLot within six months of when it was "born." I do remind everyone to keep reading the guidelines. The rules have gotten stricter over the years.

The guidelines have changed here over the years. One in particular stands out concerning earnings. When I originally started at this site you didn't loose your earnings if you didn't log in for extended periods of time you do now. So I see discussions now and then started about what happened to my earnings and I check to see when they originally signed up. Usually the answer given is correct which is you have to log in every 90 days to not loose earnings, and the the link to the FAQ, which would be correct, but had you joined this site 5 years ago it wasn't in the FAQ's. I don't like seeing read the guidelines on information that wasn't always there to begin with, that bugs me. No I didn't loose my earnings, I may not participate regularly but I'm here all the time reading.

If you don't know don't respond its as simple as that. I hate when I give information and I screwed up the terminology. The guidelines change periodically and its a good idea to check back frequently to see if everything is still the same. Also as a refresher. I usually don't respond to most of them, we have several mylotters that are great at giving the correct information with links, some even from responses from GAA. They are truly helpful.

Both my hands are raised! But I wouldn't be too quick to judge them as I too might not be too familiar with the guidelines anymore. I have a vague recollection of reading them some two years ago, and I push my luck in some discussions here, I may violated some of them sooner or later.

Hello somecowgirl, I get annoyed when someone ask the basics like about earnings, reputation but annoying does not mean that i don't respond to it.I always respond to these questions as i like to guide new people here and that's what everyone expect from us.
