bystanders lift car in Utah

When push comes to shove acts like this show what adrenaline can do for a group of bystanders when someone's life is in jeopardy! http://www.wisn.com/video/29168319/detail.html Bless their courage! There was a wreck in Milwaukee that was somewhat similar where people on the streets and road pulled a family from their blazing van. They are true hero's just as those in Utah. Have you heard of such courageious feats by strangers in your community? Would of you stood and watched or helped in such a situation?

Wow what a dangerous and courageous situation. Yes I too would have been one of those persons helping. But I would also make sure that if not me, someone calls police and or the fire department. The other thing I noticed was they pulled the guy out and still was so close to the fire. What if it would have blown up. This would be a difficult call, as the first guy sort of was confused, as to whether help or not but yes I too would have done the noble thing and helped somehow.

That is what I thought too ..they didn't pull him far enough away! However, maybe the angle of the film, made it look closer than it was? I hope so because an explosion would be horrible..

My thought also was that it did not appear as if anyone was concerned with the car and or motorcycle exploding. Yeah could be the camera deal but it sure appeared as if the people too were still too close. While I am all for helping I certainly would not want to be blown up.

I agree and wonder if these people were so concerned with the victim they forget about their own safety..that happens...

I saw that! Amazing... Yeah, I might've been in there when I was younger and healthier... I once stopped when a couple got their truck caught in a situation, and because I had hurt myself I couldn't push, but that allowed me to get up and study the situation and figure out how to get them out of their jam, and, using my legs and Maggiepie's (but I could've done it myself) got their car unstuck!

That may be, but then they might be calling an ambulance for me too!

But you know when instinct takes over, your age may not play a part in it. Great of you two to stop and help the couple out.

I had seen that the day it happened (or maybe it was the next morning) while I was sitting at breakfast. It is amazing what people can do when a life is in danger! I just hope that people will always have that ability should the need arise. Thanks for sharing this!

I love to see news items like this. If I could start each day with one of these, my whole point of view for humanity would be much more upbeat. Bless all those that took part in this one.

I saw this on the noon news today. I thought it was pretty amazing. A few people tried at first but couldn't do it, then they got more help and lifted the car off of him and dragged him out. It looked funny though, after they had him out, everybody seemed to leave. I assume though that rescue was on the way. From the camera angle, which was fairly narrow, you couldn't see what was nearby just out of the field of view. They said on the evening news that he had some broken bones and other injuries but was awake and doing fine. Those people probably saved his life. I hope there are people that heroic around if I ever end up in a bad situation like that.

Yeah I noticed that too they seemed to disappear in a flash after they pulled him out and you see someone that looked like a police officer there but not doing much after everyone left or out of camera view. But I imagine many disappeared from view because of fear of an explosion.

I saw this on TV this morning. It was a great piece to watch. It also gives hope since we keep hearing that strangers just won't get involved anymore. God Bless all those brave citizens who wanted to save a stranger and risked their own lives from a possible explosion.

That is true so many people are afraid to get involved as it seems society is very sue happy. But I think if someone's life is on the line they will jump in and help.

Your point about law suits is unfortunately correct..Seems there are good samaritans who were sued afterwards...how disgusting that is.

In a situation like that I would try to do the best with the skills I have for something like that. If there were plenty of people to do the lifting, I would not presume, because I am not the strongest, on the other hand, I might be the best person to help stabilize the victim once the car was off, or I might take the initiative to call 911. I am willing to help and that is essential. I could not just walk away from such a situation.

I saw that on the Neil Cavuto show last night and it was very heartwarming to know that there are still people like that on our streets. I think it should be standard procedure for all news shows to show or report on at least one act of bravery or kindness by an ordinary person every day.

hi 3snugglebunnies oh I love to see things like this where strangers come together to help a person in real danger. I would love to say I would do anything to help someone in such a situation but since 5 years ago when I fractured my lefts shoulder so badly they put in an artificial shoulder joint I lost almost all the usage of my left arm.so when It comes to situations where physical help is needed I cannot lift but with one arm, and sadly in situations like that one you need both arms and hands. it makes me so angry that I look like a callous b .i.t.ch. as I stand by and let somnolent wit h two good arms help a co resident. I hate that in myself. But I would never just stand by and watch,I would get help that can lift and carry or whatever is needed.

I saw this on tv last night. Wonderful story of courage and hope for us all. The citizens here would always go to the assistance of someone in need. It also makes the whole human race proud that acts of courage risking personal safety are still carried out.
