MAKE ME SO MAD!
I am sorry but if you are going to ask for prayers, you need to be truthful, or atleast say "Pray for me, God knows my burdens."
I just reposted on facebook, but later deleted it, a post for prayer request. The person who posted it before me on a group was not aware that it was a hoax, and I should have known it was as when told it was a hoax, and after further investigation I realized it sounded familiar.
WHY Do people go around on the internet, or maybe even off it, and ask for requests for prayers for a sick child, or other family member, one who was shot etc, and it NEVER have happened???
It just makes me wonder how things spread so fast... I know one can tell one storey and another the other and get WAY out of control and then by the time you hear it it's so unoriginal..
Sooo maybe there was an original prayer request somewhere online... but gahhh..
PLEASE if you're going to repost a prayer requests, REPOST IT word for word.
I feel like you're wasting time and prayers. God Knows.. God Knows what's true and what's not.. but it's like you're taking advantage of kindhearted people.
STOP IT
Do you agree?6 responses

Those massive forward, forward, forward prayer concerns are not generally the ones I respond to, or the reposts, because often the need is past. Just like the things that ask for postcards to be sent to a sick child. Things live forever in one form or another on the internet. On here, and on Gather, the moment someone asks me to pray, I will pray then. I also follow up with a written list of reminders for a day or two. There are people who legitimately need our prayers and good thoughts out here, and if I goof up and pray for a hoax, God still has blessed me with the good will that I am extending. Like you said, He knows.

I know there are a lot of prayer requests that are true, just "past" tense. I wonder if a lot of them on snopes are truly true then. I wonder if the one I am referring to with this discussion is. I prayed, I asked for others to pray by copy and pasting the request, but deleted it right after.
I know it's a good Christian thing to do, but I guess feel used if I find it was a hoax.
Just like people who fake an illness (a SERIOUS illness) make me sick!

I don't mean to be insensitive, but sometimes I feel like those prayers flying around online are nothing worse than scams that go around on the internet. Sometimes you don't know if they are true or not. It just helps propagate all the garbage on the net.
So as a policy, I don't forward anything.

I think these people just like the drama of all of it. They like to see what kind of reactions they will get out of it.

Hi somecowgirl, some people just aren't serious about life or anything else. God knows what is real and what isn't. God knows the heart and He knows people. Some people are wise and use wisdom, some or just foolish. The ones that do the things you posted above are just foolish. Leave the case to God. Don't let the devil steal your joy. Once you have prayed for what you thought was right it is out of your hands and God will deal with the perpetrator. Be bless my friend God knows your heart.

They do that for fun (see how fast a request like that goes around), because they like to make stupid jokes or because they bet with someone else, or want to make money out of it.
And I agree with you, stop with these kind of request it is not funny at all.
Also it's cruel abuse people and use other people their situation.

There are those who make up a hoax or want to cause trouble. Who knows all the reasons for the misbehaviour. The internet with all its good things and resources also is a plaque perhaps. Good kind hearted people will get taken advantage of but as you stated God knows. I think of Matthew 5:11 well all of 5 actually when I think of how people are mistreated. Keep smiling somecowgirl someone is listening.
