Do you push yourself to make money?

I have been known to push myself into exhaustion. I'm very hard on myself. I'm my own boss, so to speak, so I do push myself. I make a goal of how much money I need, and I try very hard to make it. Of course, it all depends on the market.. is the work there? Recently, the market has been very good. I have two at home jobs, so when one is kind of slow, then the other one usually has something for me. We just got done with a nearly 60 articles and got our pay. We waited for about 6 weeks to get paid, and the company wanted to cheat us. I have a great boss that was able to get our money just 12 hours after his demand letter for payment. Needless to say we won't be working with that client anymore... but there will always be more clients that need our services. More work is supposed to be coming in for us to do soon.. in the mean time, I have my other job to do. My thing is to not get exhausted. I have worked myself to the point where I couldn't produce for one of my bosses, and I don't want that to happen again... so now I try to stagger my work so that when I'm working for one I am not working for the other. I am my own worst slave driver... I get it from my parents, I think. They had a very strong work ethic... and I do too.. even though I am retired, I have a strong work ethic. What about you? do you push yourself? To what extent do you push yourself? Please give me your thoughts about working at home.. or working outside of the home.

Oh gosh yes this hardworking girl pushes to no end. I have always been this way as I have been working since I was 11 years old. For over a year I have not been working offline but man oh man I can tell you how not only do I push to the extreme to earn a few bucks here and there, but I also have been simultaneously pushing for a job. At my last offline job which I held for many years, I also worked on my vacations. I use to log in no matter where I was at while the others slept to keep up with work. There are days, I want to seriously collapse, and I do once I finally crawl in bed. Yes I am my worst slave driver also as I can't sit around doing nothing and or expecting for things to drop casually to me. Once I dedicate to something I have to give it my 110% no matter how I am feeling. I don't know if I can ever give up my slave driving days, as I am this way just about with anything I do.

Hi HWG! I am the same way. When I worked as a nurse, I worked my days off lots of times, and I worked double shifts. When we went to 12 hour shifts, I often did an extra 4 hours because they asked me to cover on another floor when someone was out.. and they would get someone else to split the shift. My daughter grew up wishing she had more time with me. Work was all I did... I had to, but she would have rather just had me than had money for things... but I needed to put food on the table and keep clothes on her so I worked. Those habits are still with me. I am in my room working most of the time... i come out every now and then and ask if daughter is okay. And then I spend a few minutes with her, and go back to work. I guess I will be this way until I don't have the mind to work anymore.

hi dear PQ unfortunately I dont work from home. I got an offer from my boss to work from home for 3 out of 5 work days and when I was ready to take that wonderful offer circumstances prevented doing that and I am still stuck at the office now. Its a little different from your own experience here. I have to say that I am paid for the agreed 30 work hours a week, and the overtime will stay on my hours account. We can take 80 hours overtime into the following year so I better be careful by now. LOL I pushed myself too with all the to do lists in my head and that didnt make things function any better, quite the opposite. By now I am trying my best not to push myself any more but on the contrary I tell myself what wont get done now will get done tomorrow or next week so what. Its a much better way to work plus I am more relaxed about the work situation now so I wont push myself for sure.

right dear PQ I should try to keep my work life a little ore balanced. There always can be unfortunate situations like a colleague being sick for more than a week then I got to pitch in and try to help out, but it should not be the norm that I work for 9 hours a day when the contract says 6

I don't work myself to the bone anymore, I did, the trick is a balance, as your own boss remember you are also your own employee. Employee is the working world have rights, so do you being your own boss or not. You boss meaning you has to allow you employee also you time off. You have to have vacation time, and free time. Workers get days off, they get sick days off, they coffee breaks and lunch hours and are protected by law by unscruplous employers who would work them to the bone 24 hours a day if they could get away with it. Are you that kind of boss to yourself/ Remember the perks of being your own boss is to make your own hours, but making your own hours also means knowing with the break and have time out or days off just not writing to allow your body to rest. Just as there are people who cannot work independently because they have no discipline and would never sit down to work, there are also people that forget that there is such a thing as a real life beyond working. The trick is to find the balance that works for you

I have to rest when I need to. I did 6 articles in one day last week.. that surprised me... but I still rested in between them.

I have been lazy lately, and I wasn't that workaholic as I notice myself recently. What has gotten me? I should be a hard worker, not such a lazy bum. I should push myself a bit, and work much harder for myself. It is my future, and it will be my money too. Oh gosh, I should follow your pattern.

If you have to work to put food on the table it makes a difference to have drive. I work at home, and I think it can be much harder than working out in the public.

Hello PQ, I am not associated with online stuffs because i have a full time offline job to do.I work offline for around 10~12 hours and then do MYLOTTING as its the only way i earn online but dear i work a lot and my parents have taught me to work hard if you want a success in life thats what i do. But PQ for these online stuffs unlike offline jobs you need to be very careful as online work sometimes don't pay you for your efforts.

Oh it was great that you got your money back as it hurts when you are cheated and don't get the money for your hard efforts.

Once I got to know about online earning, I was trying hard to earn more, and strike for a passive and/or stable income every month. Well, I have to say, I was pushing myself to reach it. Well, maybe that's a kind of euphoria since that's my first time to earn online? Lol. But, later, I "got back" to Earth. In fact, I don't really need to push myself for earning money. Now I am just a student, and I am grateful with my life. Well, I am not rich, but at least I am still being able to eat, pay my tuition by myself, and in fact I don't have to support anyone's life, except myself. So I get back to my old self - earning money as a side job. My main role now is a student. I guess it is hard to gain both good grades and much money. So, I already choose my own path

Yes, it is very hard to balance work and school. I had to drop down to part time when I was in nursing school. I was wearing myself out. I just focused on school and worked on the weekends.. I made it.. then i earned a good living.. now I earn fairly well with my writing.

Wow, that is great. That is sweet fruits of your hard-work job on weekend. May I know where do you work in article writing? And do you earn passive income from your old articles or still writing regularly? :D

There have been many times where I have been known to overdo it with things, and then you just have a day where you CRASH and would rather not do anything again as well. I know when it comes to things especially making money a lot of us tend to overdo it especially when things are tight, and we really are trying to get caught up and maybe then ahead. But if it leaves us being Sick or something in the process we might not be doing ourselves a favor for sure.

Yeah, I think a lot of us do that. I work myself to exhaustion sometimes.. but lately I have been laying down when I get tired and get up and work when I feel up to it. This last job I was doing really had me burned out bad... but now I am branching out doing other things.. and because I did that... and started thinking for myself my boss/friend said I was disloyal to him and he said he didn't want me anymore.. which is fine because I don't like waiting months for my money.

I do this every single day. I love to earn money online. It is relaxing and also rewarding. I never get done because as I am working, more work comes in. I do enjoy it though. I am glad to be home. I work alot of hours on here and I do get really tired alot of times. I would rather work alot of hours here and enjoy it rather than work a few hours away from home and be miserable!

Hi, PointlessQuestions. I only push myself just a little bit to make some money online. I try not to overdue myself by overworking too hard. If I do so, I will be exhausted and aggravated. I try not to get this way at all. I desire to make as much of money that I can, and I don't want to exert my body by pushing too hard. I try to set a goal everyday, but sometimes this goal isn't even met at all. I just do the best that I can. If I don't get so much done on one day, I will work harder at getting more done the next day. That is usually how I set my goals.

Hi Cream! I try to have some limits. I rest when I need to, but I do push myself.. especially when I have deadlines. I just gave up a $10 article that I was going to write because I am too tired. I wrote one for $10... I could have taken another one also which would have made $30 for today.. but I just can't push myself that hard anymore.

I am pushing very hard at the moment, but that's because I know that I have things that I have to do in my life over the next couple of years that I won't be able to do if I don't have the money to put towards it. In addition to this, I am planning on having a baby, which means that I will have to take a little bit of a step back in order to relax enough to get through it as best as I can; because at the end of the day, having a baby is stressful enough without having to worry about money at the same time as that.

You have some very great plans, GemmaR. It's wonderful to have a plan and then do the work to make it happen. So many people just sit back and expect stuff to just fall into their laps.. and it normally doesn't happen that way. We have to make things happen.

I am a hard working person. Sometimes It came to the point that I drive myself to getting sick because of too much work time and lack of rest. When I became sick even for a few days it made me realize that I have to slow down or lose what good I have going. I use to be financially challenge because of a wrong upper management decision and I lose my side job. Anyways thanks to God I have been given the opportunity to work again on a second job that I wholeheartedly like. The income that I was going to get give me that much motivation. Sometimes we are the ones who need to control ourselves to slow down.

Sometimes we are the ones who need to control ourselves to slow down. You are right.. we are the ones who have to control ourselves, because we can get sick from being burned out. I got burned out once a couple of years ago, and I was lucky if I could write 2 articles in a day... I used to write up to 10 a day. Now I can push myself to write 6 but it's not easy. I push myself to make the money I need to make.

I don't have any choice except to push myself to earn money because I need to have something that can I used for myself and of course for my family. If I will not push myself, I am not rich that no need to earn just wait only the money come from different business establishment. My family depends on me so I need to work hard and push myself not to stop earning money.

Sometimes. It's great that you are only working at home to earn money. If i'm not active online then i'm kinda busy and don't have time to earn money online. But sometimes when I'm not busy then I prefer finding ways to earn better online and keep active here. Of course I want to earn money but sometimes I'm busy or maybe lazy enough to do it. I don't push myself to exhaustion just to earn money because i think it's better to spend some of my time in my family and money can't buy that indeed.

It's really good that you don't push yourself that hard. I have deadlines to deal with so I have to push myself. Being a copywriter and a ghostwriter, I have to hand over the work at specified times. I love what I do, but I do get tired sometimes.. but not tired enough to quit!
