parts of members

So we're in a work meeting today, conference call, reviewing a testing document. In the health insurance business we have groups (employer groups), subscribers (either employees of employer groups or individual customers) and members (subscribers and/or their dependents). Welcome to Health Insurance 101. There will be a quiz after class. Anyway, we got to this one part having to do with testing something to do with members, and one of my colleagues reads that it says "parts of members" in this shocked kind of voice, to which I replied, "yeah everything but the toes". Hysterical laughter on the call... Guess it pays to be more careful what's in your document before you bring it before this group to review. Ok, so for 10 points, what's a member again?

I think that maybe you do not really want to know about members. Now up above you said that members are subscribers and/or their dependents.) I have a feeling others would have more to say about this and I am looking forward to the entertainment.

I was first!!!!! Wow. I figured PPE or someone would have been here already talking about such members. I forgot, I think his new band was debuting tonight.

"what's a member again?" Since this is a test, I will say it is a subscriber, however we are talking about one of your colleagues, whose mind was in the lower part of the body, long before you mentioned the toes. If I had been on the conference call I too would have busted out laughing. Do I get my ten points?

I work in the health insurance industry also. I find a lot of the terms vague. Terms no pun intended. I think the vaguness is protect the company. Not so much to help the member. I didn't just type that. Best Wishes!

It was interesting to read the discussion you posted and responses of others also. One s after the word part has made it interesting for you members in part of the group to enjoy. How as the quiz and how the members answered.interesting.

The members all wanted their toes covered, so they all went to Blue Cross and got insurance...

That's scarey! With some of the gross negligence cases I have heard about I can see where that would be smart to have in a insurance plan. Insurance can be complex and complicated but it can also be fun and relentlessly excrusiating and maddening. I am sure we all have stories.

So you work in health insurance? The last job I was at for nine years was at the Health Insurance Commission in Western Australia and we had ‘members’ too. We had large members, small members and in between members, isn’t that what makes the world go round?

I can't seem to shake off the vision of a little blue pill! For a 'special' member, which is 'dependent', on health insurance, and could initiate laughter whenever it is talked about.
