Being sick definitely has advantages.

When I felt a cold coming on Tuesday night, I never realized that it would have such a drastic effect on me. On Wednesday I felt a little sick, but it wasn't so bad, just a sore throat really. But on Thursday, I woke up with a horrible chest cold. I barely ate anything that day. On Friday, I still felt bad, not as bad as on Thursday, when I felt like he!! run over. I'd come home from work on Thursday with a fever. Friday I was forced to eat something for lunch, I'd eaten a few crackers in the morning and that's it. Yesterday I had a couple of crackers and that was it. By the end of the day, my blood sugar level had plunged extremely low, but eating something didn't help. I didn't trust my stomach enough to eat much as I continually felt nauseous, and really didn't want to lose anything I'd eaten. So, as a result of this, I have lost about 5lbs, which I found extremely hard to do as it is in my daily life. I still don't have much of an appetite, didn't eat much for dinner tonight, our Thanksgiving dinner. I realized at that point that I hadn't eaten anything at all until then. I had to work on the front walkway today, but even after all of that, I didn't have much of an appetite. So in a way, being sick has advantages, especially for weight loss, even though this had never happened before. I honestly hope that my appetite doesn't come back as much as it did in the past, at least I would be able to lose weight if I didn't eat as much.

I hope you are feeling much better now. Go get that flu shot so you don't get another round and stock up on the Vitamin C's!

Oh yes being sick can actually take a toll on my appetite as well. Some people loose weight then gain it back quickly when they felt well. So basically being careful on what you eat may be helpful. Although I should add that you should eat something even if only healthy low cal something as being sick can make you really weak and the not eating contributes to weakness as well. I hope you continue to feel better.

Although being sick, and not having any appetite to eat helps in losing weight, I still think it's a lousy way to go about shedding some pounds. It would be great if we didn't feel sore all over. But I guess in the worst of situations, that's definitely a 'bright' side. I hope you're feeling better now.

now I have returned to India from detroit.I understand most parts of USA people get sore throat, cold, cough now due to change of climate. (winter approaching). Many of my relatives are also affected. I suggest you consult your doctor and take proper medication. Incidentally how are your pet cats? fine ! wishing you speedy recovery.

Well, not eating is probably not the best way to lose weight (lol) but congrats on shedding five pounds. Maintain it!

Wow, sounds like you had a bad bout of it! I don't think I've ever lost that much weight due to illness, but I lost 5 pounds when I had my teeth pulled - just couldn't eat. I had cheese soup and could hardly get that down, so I mostly drank lukewarm water for days. Neither my nor your method of weight loss is pleasant!

I have something now, so I hope I lose a little weight as well. I do not get really nauseous, though. Kris, I hope you get better quickly and regain your strength.

my wife was down with a flu a week ago. and now she is getting better but she still have sore throat and cough. she was so weak that she lost also 5 pounds. although i dont think she needed to lose but she was happy that she lost 5 pounds just for a week. but i guess with a flu you expect that to happen for you dont feel like eating anything. hope you energize yourself so you will feel better. drink energy drink like gatorade too it helps. get well soon.
