I have the knitting bug, it seems. I just finish one project and I'm looking for the next. It helps that it's cool outside and most of the garden it done so I have a little extra time.
I just finished a soft ball for my baby granddaughter and am thinking of making a knitted doll for her. She will be 6 months at Christmas. When that's done, I still want to make curtains for my office.
What are you knitting? Do you plan what to knit when you finish your current project?

I know this post is a little over 4 years old but still fitting for the time of year it is now. I've been crocheting hats for the craft show this month. I was at one just yesterday and will be at another next Saturday. I will have hats and wash cloths and fingerless gloves and hooded scarves there. I do need to make something for my great grandson who is almost 5 years old and my new great granddaughter who is just a few weeks old. Have you been knitting anything now?

I have been doing some knitting, yes, but unfortunately, I have had some trouble with my shoulder and arm so have had to limit myself. No Christmas knitting this year. My granddaughter I wrote about above is 4 1/2 years old now and has a baby sister!
i hope you do well at the craft show!

@peavey Sorry to hear about the trouble with your shoulder and arm. I know what that's like. Time sure flies with more family coming along. Thanks. I hope I do well at the craft show, too.

I have round knitters, so I mostly make hats, but I do plan my yarn for color and texture as well as the size by which circle knitter I will use.

No,not circular needles, it's a circle loom that you cast on like a needle only at each of the things that sticks up. Did you ever see the old thread bobbins with staples or posts on them that people cast onto? The circle knitters have lots of posts that you cast on to.

Well, for me it is always knitting. I always want to do something interesting. This time of yr it always seems to be either hats or scarves. Just wish it would Snow to make me feel like these are of worth while this yr.

Hi Peavey, unfortunately over here, nobody knits.
Even if I want to learn, there is nobody who can teach me free of charge.
We do not have four seasons a year, that is probably the reason that nobody is inclined to knit.
No point knitting a sweater when the weather is hot and humid throughout the year.
In a way, it saves time and money for us.
But in another sense, we do not have the satisfaction of making our own things.

I understand! We lived in Singapore for a year, so I know what you mean about the weather.
There are other things to knit, though. Dish cloths, rugs, soft toys... I don't think I knitted while we were there, though.
There are good instructions on Youtube if you ever want to learn.

I knit all year long but knit more in the winter. Right now I;m trying to decide on a hat to knit as I have never done one before. Right now I'm knitting a scarf for my new winter jacket!!!

I am and it's going to be something simple. I'm not a hat person but I thought it would be something new to learn. I'm actually looking into joining a knitting class so I can learn more things to knit. I can knit but nothing complicated. Plus it's a great way to meet new people!

You sound a little bit like me.. whatever I do, I want to do that thing all the time.. whether it's crafts, reading or being on the internet.. I'm a little more balanced than I used to be though, thank goodness! Good luck with your knitting projects!

I do not know how to knit, except with those looms. I have a sweater top I started a long time ago and it will have some crochet trim to shape it. I crochet more than I knit. Dish cloths, plarn bags, t shirt rugs, and baby afghans, but not as much as I should. After my second grand daughter was born my daughter mentioned no one had made her a blanket just for her. I made a summer quilt, and I started a single crochet afghan, but never finished it. I will send it to her at Christmas. I am relieved to know that they will have a use for it, though even though it is late. The oldest one went to KDG this year and she got to take the afghan my sister made for her "rest blanket." I am going to do more handwork, etc. I used to crochet teddy bears and I could easily do that again.

I have tried several times to learn to crochet, and I just can't get it, maybe because I learned to knit first, I don't know. I also tried to knit with plarn and it seemed unyielding and stiff, so I quit. Maybe the needle size was wrong - again, I don't know!
I looked at teddy bear patterns this afternoon. I have a pattern here somewhere that I created from an old doll pattern, but I was too lazy to dig for it. I didn't find a doll pattern that I liked, so I'll probably combine a couple. Or try, anyway. If I'd get off the computer, I could get a lot more done!
