I was talking to my mother who was a red meat eater all her life. Now she does not eat red meat at all because she is afraid it is not good for her health. Are you are red meat eater? Do you eat a lot of it or you eat red meat only sometime? Do you agree that red meat is bad for your health?

As a grand daughter of a cattle rancher, I eat beef. About half of my meals have beef or pork. I also eat lots of chicken, turkey and fish as well as vegetables. I believe it is the things we feed our cattle that are bad for us.

Grandpa lived to be 97, grandma lived to be 100, but they raised and butchered their own meat.

I'm not a big red meat eater. If I could I would probably just eat fish or seafood. But that's pretty expensive. I think if one eats a lot of red meat it's bad for your health. But in moderation it is okay. But I don't eat that much of it. And if I do, it is usually because I'm at someone else's house and that is what they are serving.

Cheesesteak - A Cheesesteak up close!
A cheesesteak is a sandwich made of sliced steak and cheese served on a long roll. Others call it subs or Po Boys or sliders but if you are from Philadelphia, it is a cheesesteak. You know how there are food feuds ? some prefer thin crust or thick crust pizza or Pepsi vs Coke? Well there is a cheesesteak feud. See, to me One should Never put Cheese- Wiz on a cheesesteak. It Must be Provolone. And in some places the steak comes in long thin slices , but to me it Has to be cut in tiny pieces. Here is a picture of my version of a cheesesteak. This is the best picture I could find. You can't see the cheese because the cheese is white and so is the bread. But you can see How the Steak is cut.

we call the submarines here. Just about all subs come with cheese, we then just ask for the other ingredients, such as steak, steak and pepperoni, steak and bacon, cold cuts, meatballs, chicken, etc.

I think that red meat can be bad for you. But like everything else, in moderation it is okay to partake. Depends on how the meat is produced too. I had a corn fed beef steak a couple years ago that was very memorable. I love a good roast with horse radish. Brought up on it. Yes, moderation is the key.

I actually crave red meat if I don't have it for a few days. I like beef but avoid eating it everyday. I grew up this way..meat and potaoes..and I suppose that is the influence. I think red meat in moderation is good for me. I do avoid the fatty cuts of meat even though sometimes they are more tender and juicey...and delicious...

I don't think red meat is bad to our health, red meat have more B12 than the others type of foods. I love red meat, but I don't eat everyday and I don't miss if I don't eat everyday. I think I eat around 3-4 times per week, but have days that I overreacted and eat a lot of barbecue.

I think that anything in moderation is OK. My husband and I eat red meat a couple of times a week, totally vegetarian foods another couple of times a week, and chicken, fish, and seafood, a couple of times a week. We like to spread it out, and keep things balanced.

Red meat, like anything, isn't bad for you in moderation. I actually get a bit anemic and since I'm allergic to meats, it sometimes results in going to iron pills to fix me up. I can eat beef, pork and lamb once a week - each, but I don't get lamb that much. I have also had bison and other kinds of red meats, so far, I've enjoyed all of them. So, because of my allergies I don't eat as much as I would like, but I don't agree that red meat is BAD, too much can be bad, but it is the same old thing, everything in moderation.

Though my cholesterol level in serum is above normal and so I am supposed to avoid red meat, yet as I dislike chicken I often take red meat but never in excess and only occasionally.
