After hearing what happened in Ohio and now seeing photos of the dead animals I need to speak out on this. So many states,Ohio is not alone, let people own exotic animals like this guy who commited suicide and let all the wild animals loose. Exotic animals are wild animals. They are not meant to be pets! They belong in the wild! Not kept in a cage,in a basement,in a person home or apartment! It is not good for the animals and these animals are dangerous and will kill people! I know some people think it is cool to own an exotic animal! I know there are people who have these animals like in a road side zoo to make money off of them! Whatever the reason no one should be allowed to own an exotic animal! So many are neglected and abused because the owners have no clue what they are doing! This why we need more santcuaries around run by people who know what they are doing! If people were not crazy and dumb this would not be happening! I will write my congressmen and senators and govenor about this! My state of Wisconsin lets people own exotic animals and their animal abuse laws are not very good either! This has to stop now!

Owning this types of animals are dangerous and insane! The owners and the community are in danger! I know in Texas people are able to own tigers in pens in their back yards! I have heard of a guy in Wisconsin who owned a Black Panther in his basement! The guy had the PAnther taken away because of of neglect! Now the Panther is in a zoo and is not happy! He paces back and forth everyday! That is sad!
Then I hear of people owning alligators in their homes and people having pet monkeys! That is insane and I hope someday there are laws in every state doesn't let people own exotic animals!

That is what I am being trying to say here! Nice to know other people agree with me! Some haven't but I expected that! Now to get laws in all states to not let people own exotic animals is the next step!

It is really sad what happened to those animals. I was watching a short interview with Jack Hanna this morning he was on Good Morning America. He was explaining why they had to handle it like they did and saying how bad it was for someone to have wild animals. He basically sent out a warning to other people in Ohio who may have exotic pets that they better get rid of them because within the next few months stricter laws are going into action to keep this from happening again.

I had heard Jack Hanna's explaining the situation of how the handling of these animals were taken. I still wish it could of been done another way! I know the pressure is on Ohio's governor to put a bill in law to stop people from owning exotic animlas! I hope he does and other states will follow!

I was appalled by the story. One of the cops made some dumb comment like "I shot it with a tranq and it just ran at me." Well if you shoot a tiger with only enough tranquilizer to knock out a raccoon of course it is just going to get mad.
The fact that 18 Bengal(endangered species) were killed made me sick. I agree that laws need to be tougher.

You would think the some zoo vet would of known what the correct amount to take down a Bengel Tiger! I think if the cops knew how to tranquilize properly, this slaughter of these animals woul dof ben avioded! This story still can't beleive this happened and I hope the laws get tougher! Starting with Ohio!

I appreciate your support! Thanks to Facebook I joined Change.org and voted on a cause to get the Ohio governor to put in a law to not be able to own animals that belong in the wild! I still can't bleive these animals were killed! I wish they could of trapped those animals or at least tried to instead of killing most of them!

I read this in the paper and it honestly just made me sick. Those poor animals. I think zoos are wrong as well...any zoos. It's messing with nature and these animals deserve a better life than a freakin cage. My kids never went to the zoo growing up...I won't do it. They went to a local travelling circus once and got disgusted. This is a tradgedy that so could have been avoided.

I didn't know either what they did to the animals when I was a kid. Circus's were exciting and fun. Now there is more awareness to what actually goes on and the kids learn about it in school now which is a good thing. I am against captivating them but yes, at least if they must then be humane about it. Your right, the zoo that this happened at is a tradgedy that could have been avoided, I'm sure. I just read tonite in the paper that 3 of these animals lived through the ordeal and are being placed in another zoo. I was at work so I didn't get to read the entire article but I was glad to hear that some at least made it out alive!
