Reading the Directions

I hate cleaning PERIOD! But when it's gotta get done I'm there. Now I was using a multipurpose cleaner today and it dawned on me to read the back! The back area where the dog lays he likes to lay against the door so in time the door looks gross! Hubby had discovered using this lil steamer (you know they were the big cleaning thing a few yrs back) will get that gross icky door clean in two shakes. Well I don't like the idea of using it, I have never used it and using something hot, electric, and under pressure... um that spells danger w/o a manual in my book. So I decided to read the directions and it said for tough stains/dirt/marks reduce how much you dilute it or don't dilute it at all. I used a 50/50 combo and it took that mess off that door! I was very excited to find a way other than that steamer and going thru a good size bottle of 409 to get it off.
Do you take the time to read the directions on your cleaning products? Or do you wing it like I usually do?

I pretty much always wing it. Me and directions don't get along very well, LOL.

Ok, sometimes I will skim through directions to make sure I don't miss anything important before I attempt to wing it.

Me too! Usually it's quite a chore to get that off the door.

I make a lot of my own cleaning products as I do not like all of the chemicals that are in normal cleaning products. I find that you do not need to read the directions on thngs like vinegar, baking soda, and other natural products.
I also have found that I read the labels of ingredients in my cleaning products that I buy at the store more than I do the directions. I usually just use them as I think that I need too.
You might teach us something here - that it helps to read instructions!

I avoid cleaning at all most of the time. I finally broke down during my chemo session last week and asked the social worker if they could help me find someone to help me do a major cleanup on my apartment. It needed cleaning when I went into the hospital last month (didn't get done) and now it is far worse. I feel totally overwhelmed. I don't begin to know where to start. I did get some garbage bags and started putting the recycling in one of them, but I still haven't started on the fridge or the other garbage. I don't know how I got to that point, but now I don't want to do anything around here. Oh well...

The only time I do read the directions if it is something I had not used before. Once I use a cleaning product I usually wing it each time I use it.

I probably read the instructions once or twice then wing it.
