There are a lot of reality shows on television these days and most of them ask us to vote for our favourite contestants. I have till date never sent in a vote for any reality show.
Do you send in your votes for reality shows? Or do you think that our votes do not count in the end and it is the producers who decide who the winner is?

I never vote but do enjoy watching specially to see how these unknown entities are able to show case their talent. Probably you are right. May be it is all 'fixed' by the producers.

I enjoyed watching Master Chef 1 and am now watching Master Chef 2. Which are the other shows that you say are disgusting? I liked Indian Idol and now watch KBC too. Although I do know all is not transparent in any of these shows the fact that these hitherto unknown participants get these opportunities is something that we cannot ignore.

I have watched a few reality shows before and quite them. However, never really have voted for anyone. I know people who do though. They vote religiously for their favorite contestants. I can understand the sentiment but these days phoning is really expensive - something I am trying to control.

I do vote, on some shows... American Idol, America's Got Talent, Dancing with the Stars and So You Think You Can Dance. Oh, yes, and a show on HGTV called, "Design Star" where home decorating professionals compete to have their own television show. So far, I have voted for the winner, 3 out of 5 times. 2 out of 5, my choice came in second, so I assume I have good taste, lol.
Having friends who work in television, I know that the word "reality" is a poor title for these types of shows because they are manipulated to come out they way the producers and directors want them to be, to cause more drama.

I wish I could vote to cancel some 'reality shows' but the ones I's talking about are the ones that follow 'famous' people around. There's too many of those about people I don't want to know anything more about. The only show that I watch is the Amazing Race. For the 'talent' shows, there seems to be too many different things going on that skew the results as to who survives.

Our votes do count... Sometimes the producers of the show will disagree with the votes but they can't change anything.
Right now the reality show I'm into is X factor!

Yeah I've tried sending once for a reality show. I supported a schoolmate. I believe there are some shows wherein they wouldn't follow the votes of the people but they will choose the winner. But I think for some, it's also the votes that count.

I have voted earlier in reality shows of vijay tv and asianet. Our votes do count. Nowadays I think they charge more and I do not send any sms nowadays. However now we can vote through internet.
Even this processes can be tutored by the company or contestants by hiring people to send votes.

Yes. I was referring to Idea Star singer program only. Singers sing very well in that program. Thanks for informing such programs are fixed. In fact I got such an idea this time --in vijay tv -- airtel super singer final results were announced. Lot of marketing goes on in such contests also.

Yes. SMS is charged at 0.75 per sms. It is better to call and talk rather than sending sms. I am of the view film songs also is ok. But invariably whatever results come it tantamounts to bias or subjective decision.
